  Tale of a Black Congregation Part I

  exposure to two distinct cultures has impacted my life.

  first, as a young blonde lad from the pacific northwest, i was catapulted into the hispanic culture of the rio grande valley in 1961. on the border, by the sea was the chamber of commerce slogan, but the change in venue was more dramatic than simply moving from a land of mountains and douglas fir to beaches, bougainvilla, grapefruit and beaches.

  it was the warmth and closeness of the mexican families, the new sounds and flavors and , yes, the salon del reino that intrigued and humbled this know-it-all young pioneer.

  TMS, what a great memory God has gifted you with. The stories brought out the poignancy of the times. I remember when my Dad (white) gave a Sunday Talk at an all colored/black congregation. After the talk as I was standing next to him (about 10 yrs old in 1965) when he told a story my Dad said at one point in the story; "there was this colored brother"... at that point the black brother interrupted my Dad and started laughing in a jesting sort of way and said in the colored accent, well I'll be jest What color waz he? I always remembered that and I took extra concerns not to be prejudice when I grew up. I always thought we should have integrated before the government made us. We should have taken the lead.

  Oh well, I am still experiencing religious discrimination from my JW family. I am Christian, serve the Almighty God, Jesus is my Lord and Holy Spirit filled but in the eyes of family I am apostate. Keep loving Jesus and prayin for family! Whether Jesus comes back tomorrow or never in my lifetime, I serve Him. He is my Lord!

  Movies to make a JW THINK

  i've heard various suggestions of movies to show a dub.. those of us with a spouse / family in the borg might find it pretty useful to rent such movies as just another way of chipping away at the indoctrination, or drawing attention to the wts control tactics.. one movie i saw which was somewhat helpful was one called "equilibrium", which was suggested on this board a while back.

  its about a society that has acheived peace and order by requiring everyone to repress their emotions through sedatory drugs.

  the good thing about this one was when it showed how everyone was so indoctrinated to follow the directives of the organization in charge, with every person keeping an eye on everyone else.

  The Village is pretty good. Shows what can happen when things are made up and why telling the truth is better. It also portrays fear of the world outside our own little community.

  Do I really believe that Jehovah's Witness' are the only true religion? YES! Just believing it does not make it so . Isa. the 58th chapter actually tells us what defines true worship or religion to God. The witnesses as a group do not really do much of this at all. HAVE YOU FOUND THE TRUTH? Once again no matter how YOU define truth there is only ONE! In searching for truth I would hope any bible believing Christian would read his own bible. John 14:6 says Jesus it the Way , the Truth , And the Life. and you cannot come to the Father except through him. Doesn't say anything about an organization. Rom. 10: 8-10 tells us the gospel of Christ and to be saved we need to know him as Lord.The New World Translation even wrongly inserted the name Jehovah in Rom 10:13. See any other Bible for comparison and even the Greek Interlinear. 1 Cor. 15:1-4 defines the gospel in a no nonsense clear format. If Jesus is the only way then the JW religion is wrong if it says it is the only way. I hope you do not give up on God because He gave His only Son to die in your place and I really appreciate that He made the gospel so easy that no matter if I am Jew or Greek , Slave or Free all I have to do is believe Jesus is my Lord and all my sins will be be forgiven. Not an unloving God, Did you know He wrote your name in the book of life and you are the only one who can cause it to be erased?

  I'm new to the forum and desperate for support

  i will be very brief on my introduction as i need to get straight to the point.

  i was raised in the 'truth' from birth.

  i got baptized at 16 (elder dad hassled me) and managed to do the 'slow fade' at 18 (it helped that i moved 50 miles away from home).

  Muse,

  I am very sorry to hear about your Dad, I will be praying for you, all my prayers are based on the healing power of Jesus name. The scriptures tell me that Jesus already took our stripes so that we may be healed. I pray your Dad will call on the name of Jesus. I have made him the Lord of my Life and I have seen powerful powerful healings take place in others who have done the same. I hope that the awful religion, any religion has not decimated your faith in God.

  My dog has rocks for friends ( true)

  i am not kidding and i am not talking just little rocks but rocks the size of soft balls.

  she will constantly look for rocks and bring them home and when i try to get rid of her ( friends) like throw them in the woods she can smell them out and brings them back.she sits with her rocks like they are her playmate and chews on them and throws them in the air like a ball.

  ( ouch ).

  as a dub i was always taught that the reason j couldn't deal with us directly was because he was so holy and we were so not holy, that he couldn't even deal with us directly.

  so we are in quarantine, through no fault of our own from our "father" in heaven.

  then how come satan got to enter in before j himself and question and debate before all the angels.

  I think it is a great letter and very humble.. He really sent a lot of those copies to a lot of people.

  you know it would really be great if they could at least take the humble position of "The Church of God" that wrote a beautiful apology to their flock for many hurtful and misleading declarations. In the C of C book on page 272 in the end of chapter 10, they were extremely sorry and painfully reminded of the unbiblical path they had taken in over emphasizing predictive prophecy and prophetic speculation which minimized the true Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ. They begged forgiveness and understanding. and their letter was just what was needed to a hurting flock..

  If the society does not lead by humility, why would the elders?
