I think your supposition is most noteworthy.
BTW, speaking of cults, do you realize that you inspired your very own worshiper on another thread?
It's true! All Hail Ballistic and his pyramids!! Can't remember who it was--Was it April? something about you being a little devil...

My paranoid conspiracy theory....
by ballistic inthere was a boom in cults starting up at the start of the last century.
do you think russel, with his masonic and zionist influences constructed a purely money-making "pyramid" style religion?.
it is interesting how the pyramid even influenced his early teachings.. i see a parallel between him and what's his name that started dianetics, ron hubbard.. interesting how some witnesses became involved in their own pyramid schemes, also.. i wonder if russel ever left the truth about this, perhaps, "sealed up unto the last days" in an envelope entitled "new light", not to be opened until some later date?.

Alert the media! Another one of life's mysteries solved! LOL!!
That must have been one interesting thread on Christianity being necessary for morality. hmmmm....must resist urge to make
judgemental caustic remark.
aaah, under control. Thank you Goddess. All is right in the Universe. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

<<I consider all
<< of it to be something that we need to finish evolving away from and into the 21st Century.>>Amazing,
I very much agree with your statement above--that we ARE evolving past our need for religion. What I have found in my study of Wicca and the various Nature Paths, is a removal of religion, or rules in one's spirituality. It helps me to unfold my innate spirituality, with NO ONE in between myself and the energy of the universe (feminine and masculine/god/goddess--yin/yang, if you will). I believe the ancients knew so much, but lacked the technical or mechanical explanations for it. I believe there is a scientific explanation for everything, even if it is stranger than anything in our wildest dreams--my god, look at quantum physics & mechanics. I have my Scientific Americans and Discover Magazines along with my Origin of the Species in with my books on magick, and sometimes the lines between science and what is called Magick are pretty thin (i.e. latest Discovery about probable existence of parallel universes--fascinating!). Then there is Dr. Neil Scraeder's research on the power of the human mind (we can conceivably create our own realities)
What a wonderful universe we live in, no?
B. :)
p.s. I also believe that there is darkness about Satan worshippers (that is, those who worship Satan, the purley BIBLICAL entity--pagans and wiccans do not recognize this entity). One of the first things I learned was that Wiccans and Pagans DO NOT SACRIFICE LIVE THINGS. It is against their precepts to harm ANY. Closet Wiccans can usally be detected by such nefarious activities as RECYCLING (ooooh--shudder) out of a deep reverence for the earth, burning sweet smelling incense (hmmm, wasn't that in the bible?), also, herb gardens....etc. etc. I also find that (at least the ones I know) one of the first things I noticed personality wise, (before I knew they were Wiccans) was their overtly NON judgemental, live-and-let-live demeanors (I knew they probably couldn't be christians). So, I'm glad your experience
with Wiccans has been good likewise. Thanks for your input. :) -

satanism, witchcraft and devil worship. . . . . .
by DCs Ghost incontrary to popular belief and what society and the media will portray satanism, devil worship and witchcraft are 3 very independent systems of belief, .
sure, to those who are afraid of looking into books dealing with the occult, for fear of being possessed or what have you, i write this as a vent because it makes me laugh when i hear people assume that the three are the same, they aren't, .
and the reality is that even though the three get bunched up as the same, many times it is the ignorance of the practitioners which keeps the ignorance alive.

I second the motion to change the name of the thread to attract those like us. When I saw it, I thought it might be a warning from fundamentalists about the "dangers" thereof...

Thank you so much for the tip on the books, DC. I can't get enough of this stuff! I, like so many others have always been drawn to the occult. I was a closet reader of Stephen King as a teenager, and wanted to kill myself (really) at 8 because I'd broken a vow to Jehovah not to watch Bewitched (I loved that show). I remember being utterly fascinated with the images of "idols" in the literature. These gods and goddesses seemed so real compared to the god of the bible. I remember the pic of Solomon paying homage to a goddess and just wondering, "he was the wisest man who EVER lived hmmmmmm.....what attracted him to Her?" When I was 2 1/2 my parents took me to a bible study and according to my father, I ran up to a statue of the Buddha they had and exclaimed "Look, it's Buddha!". They, of course were shocked and dismayed. My visions and dreams as a child were attributed to the demons, and would often be followed by a purging of recently bought garage sale items. I finally learned to fear and suppress my intuition, and have had a hard time honing it again.
I am learning Magick, and recognize that it is EVERYWHERE and that I have practiced it in certain form for a LONG time before I knew what it was. I believe the line between science (i.e., quantum physics/mechanics) and Magick is thinning exponentially, and that the ancients really knew SOOO much.
Silver Leaf--thank the Goddess you were not raised in the Borg! I'm sorry you had a traumatic brush with it, but it brought you here, so I rejoice. Is there anyone else like me? Raised in the strict confines of the ORG but being a true child of Nature?
Blessings...

p.s. I always LOVED Catholics--still do. All their images, their beautiful churches. I loved going into homes of Catholics. I know now that it was Goddess (albeit dressed down as Blessed Mother, Mary) who I was drawn to. -

Silver Leaf,
I am new to this path, and by no means initiated (just read a lot of Scott Cunningham :) but I had seen one of your posts on another subject and wondered if you were not one of my kind. Bright Blessings. :)
I would like to just clarify my previous post, as I do not want to come across as a male hater because of my JW past--nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, reverence for Goddess has helped (is helping me) to connect with the male aspect of the universe (God) in a far more healthy way than ever before. Still, there are some things you feel more comfortable with talking to your mother about than your father.
I would love to know more about you, and your path, if you'd like to share. I've never known a feeling like connection with the Goddess gives me. It's helped me to be happier, healthier (physically and mentally) a better parent, and a better wife.
Love,

Okay, I heard this one on David Letterman a long time ago on one of his top ten lists:
The number one thing you do NOT want to hear from the only other person you're stuck in an elevator with:
"and not only do I sell AMWAY, I'm also a Jehovah's Witness!"
or something to that effect. :) -

Dear DC's Ghost:
Thank you sooooo much for clarifying these points. Sometimes I want to say something, but I often find that when people are in a certain fear based mind set, they simply cannot understand specific precepts about other beliefs and spiritual paths. Only when I connected to the feminine aspect of the universe (yes, Goddess) did I feel like I finally began to understand "god". This angry, punitive, corporate head, male godhead I'd always had crammed down my throat--I could never connect to. I am nothing religiously but I incorporate many aspects of many belief systems on my path. Science plays a huge role in my "belief system". But anything that reflects Veritas et Ratio goes in my book.
I have actually had it explained to me, that "devil" worship or the worship of "Satan" (different than Satanism) is actually an offshoot of Christianity, since none of the "pagans" I know even recognize this entity (a product of the dualist nature of Christianity--there must be a baddy to the goody--no balance and NO inbetween).
Thank you.....

My thoughts exactly, Stacey--the story was morbid enough, but the comments to follow were downright disturbing. I am saddened also to think of this brother, who is hanging on with all he's got, in hopes (or so it seemed in the story) of reuniting with his deceased wife. Which, according to official party line, is NOT going to be the case.
And not one ounce of compunction about looting the houses of the deceased. Not one grain of compassion for the dead. In fact, it's one big "party" sounds like.
If this is their Brave New World, full of their brand of "love", then they can have it.
The name of this thread is so appropo: SAD. Very, very sad....

Thirdson and all,
Good morning from the rocky mountains!!
Okay, along the same line as jackets being official attire: DRESSES for all the women. AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!! Whenever I would question this, even the slightest, I was always given the official party line about our dress should follow the same pattern as what the world would consider business attire. Okay, I worked at a bank at the time and saw ALOT of pants on women.
It all boils down to CONTROL.

BTW, the slippers thing was too funny!
