Accuracy, in order to defend your org, you likened it to Israel and the early christians and said "They all had to deal with serious moral problems.". As I recall, they were both called on it, too, by their God (who you claim as your own and no one else's) usually via their own members and prophets. Eventually, as your org taught me, Israel, God's first covenent people lost God's favor altogether and were plundered and left destitute. Because the sins of some individual members? Or because they hardened their hearts to the afflicted and became polluted and irrevocably haughty?
Go read the prophets, your God is trying to tell you something. Especially Ezekial 34. How long do the lowly have to be trampled on? I don't think the WTBTS believes in God at all other than as a useful marketing tool for its publishing enterprise. If they did, they would be trying like Hell to rectify things between themselves and their God. Here's a little sample: "WOS TO THE SHEPHERDS OF ISRAEL, WHO HAVE BECOME FEEDERS OF THEMSELVES!" EZEKIEL 34:1
THE SICKENED ONES YOU AHVE NOT STRENGTHENED, TEH AILING YOU HAVE NOT HEALED, AND THE BROKEN, YOU HAVE NOT BANDAGED AND THE DISPERSED ONE YOU HAVE NOT BROUGHT BACK THE LOST YOU HAVE NOT SOUGHT--BUT WITH HARSHNESS YOU HAVE HAD THEM IN SUBJECTION--EVEN TYRANNY." I suggest reading for yourself the rest of the chapter to find out how your God feels about bad little chosen people who deal treacherously with the afflicted. Go ahead. But don't be afraid of His judgment *Bridgette leans in for whisper* You're not God's chosen people. Karma and the secular laws of justice will have to suffice to deal with your MANmade MANsanctioned religious publishing corporation. You should actually feel relieved, because if the WTBTS really WAS god's organization there would be hell to pay for the gross misrepresentation of HIM.

Will You Miss This History Making Event?
by silentlambs inwill you miss this history making event?
as many of you may know in recent weeks wt has moved to silence victims and advocates by disfellowshipping those who have spoken out on child molestation within the organization.
spokesman for jehovahs witnesses have made allegations that are untruthful, from saying that they had no idea who was appearing on dateline, stating that it has been established policy that child molesters work only in twos in the door to door ministry, to stating the judicial meetings were over other sins against god.

Schibolet, You accused Bill with the following: "The cost to feed your ego is those that have been abused."
For years, those who have been abused with sanction from the organiztion known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract SOCIETY have been silenced, shamed and skewered for the sake of the collective ego of said entity. Now, I am sure they would love for the shroud of silence, shunning and shame to continue and that these abused ones would just "slink" quietly away so that they can continue to "operate" as they have all along--swallowing souls in their path. All along, pointing at other churches, OTHER organizations (it's called projection) tauting theirs as THE ONLY MEANS BY WHICH PEOPLE CAN COME TO GOD. How very pharisaic. Do you believe God to be a God of justice? Then why, in His name, would you think that he would not want light shone upon the ugliness seething beneath the WTBTS "white-washed walls". Maybe you and other WT apologists should go and actually read and reflect on the prophets. Esp. Isaiah and Jeremiah. Your God doesn't put up with CRAP! And he is always on the side of the afflicted. How can you be so sure HE is not instigating the shining of light into these dark corners. The cry of the lowly ones is being heard. Your notice has been served.
Among others, see esp. Isaiah 3:15; 5:20,23.
Instead of trying desperately to keep the charade of the "PERFECT RELIGION" by attacking those trying to stand up for truth and the afflicted--go study your bible in love and humility. Maybe you can find out what your God is really trying to tell you. "Learn to do good; search for JUSTICE; set right the oppressor; Render judgment for the fatherless boy; plead the cause of the widow." Isaiah 1:17 You got work to do.

Why I, You, We keep coming back here
by Bridgette ini always say i do not believe in demons, but i find that perhaps i do.
not the kind that haunt and lay in wait for bad little, straying jw's to make a false move with a ouji board, or a misthought purchase at a garage sale, but the kind that haunt a childhood, that steal souls--the scarist kind--the human kind.
i was inspired by farkel's post this morning (btw, farkel's posts are never boring) to write this, and try, once again to exorcise these demons.

Dear Dinky,
I stand here with you, glad that you survived BOTH your ordeals of abuse. Mindrape is a good analogy for what many of us experienced. I believe writing is the most therapeutic thing we can do to heal ourselves and stay whole and sane. Here we find validation of our haunted (at worst) and utterly bizarre (at best) histories with the organization. We are like Holocaust survivors who will not let history be re-written at the hands of the WTBTS in order to blot out their crimes against humanity. Much as they'd love to shut us up and make us slink away in shame, here we stand armed with our shared backgrounds like 700 watt bulbs shining en masse right square on Brooklyn. Just keeping them honest, if nothing else.
Love and blessings,

AAAH, Introspection (you've always been one of my favorite posters, you know--anyone who quotes That Nich Han as you did in one of your posts long ago, gets an A+ in my book), I loved your quote. It's one of my hobbies to study all faiths and means by which people honor god/dess/the universe. My "studies" lately have taken me to the Judaic side of life. Oye! Those rabbis--so knowledgable. They make any sort of Christian study of the bible look like Saturday morning cartoons.

Hyghlandyr's Announcement
by Hyghlandyr ini have finally gotten around to giving a cursory synopsis of my story, life before and after being one of jehovahs witnesses.. it contains the "f" word.
i have thus placed it into the adult and disagreements forum.
i have also placed it there since there are people who do not like my philosophies or what i write.

so, back to hy's life story.....
I read your story. You are a good writer and I applaud you for being so brutally honest. It is a testament to your strength that you survived all of this intact.
I send you blessings. I would say for healing, but somehow, I sense you have already covered that, the best that you can. I would be interested to know more about your belief system that has evolved. I, too, have had a similar path (ongoing) that is nothing on the religious map of today, but is an intrinsic, unique-to-me type of "worship" (for lack of a better word).
Love and Bright blessings,

I always say I do not believe in demons, but I find that perhaps I do. If I can just write about it enough, perhaps I can at least bleed off the toxins and at the most, keep the Borg from swallowing up everyone in its path by shining light onto them and "encouraging" them to stay honest. I have tried so so so hard to simply see them through the eyes of a "worldly" person. I try to dismiss my ENTIRE childhood full of a scary, LOOMING, bloodthirsty god away by saying to myself--maybe they're not so bad. Maybe I imagined it all. I try to look at the Org the way someone like my husband (who's had almost zero contact with the "witnesses"-other than a very messed up little witness girl who used to work for him). You know, to most people, the Jehovah's Witnesses are just a quirky, poorly dressed, Amway-ish Saturday morning annoyance trying to sell the public their magizines. But it's not so easy to dismiss an entire childhood off that way. We know better. They want more than to "offer you the latest issues of..." and they want more than contributions, they want your soul. They are not happy--you are not acceptable until you have melted down whoever you are inside and poured yourself into their mold of the ideal adherant--and force yourself to go out and find other souls to melt down and mold, so that THEY can go out and find more souls and so on....and even then, you are never enough.
I am grateful to this board and others like it. I am grateful for freeminds.org. I am grateful to the courageous Ray Franz, who penned and published his conscience driven book shining light on his experiences. I am grateful to god (whoever, she, he, it may be--possibly nothing more than the ever evolving human consciousness) for my 8th grade biology teacher who taught me evolution and the scientific method for looking at the world. I am grateful to you all for being here everyday. I am grateful that those "high up" in the "society" monitor this board, so that we may speak for the women, children and silenced voices still imprisoned by the cocoon of fear of the cult. I remember all the lonely, desperately suicidally depressed elder's wives (convention widows, I heard one refer to themselves one time), too afraid to speak their truths and then taking their bitterness out on others in the cong. or their children. We say what they cannot. And it reaches the highest levels. And the organization is and will continue to change or die. Never mistake how powerful we are.
I love you all. And I am glad we are here.

I'm thinking of applying for reinstatement
by Cygnus inok, here's how it is.. i just finished reading the "dead" thread.
now, listen.
i do not believe in life after death.

Dear Cyg,
Just adding my two cents to the plethora here. Now, I know you don't want to join a group again(I can totally relate), but you are obviously missing SOMETHING. I will never again join an organization. However, I go through the phone book, read the little "events" sections in the newspaper, etc and float in and out of groups. Usually, for myself, it's religious or spiritually based (i.e., meditation groups, different church services). This serves several purposes. One, I get to do something forbidden by the borg--see things from others points of view. Two, I get to meet lots of different people (I rather like people, myself). Three, it stimulates me intellectually being exposed to different ideas (i.e., I come across a new thought--I like it--why? or I do not like it or believe it--why?).
I'm going to soon be popping in on a humanistic judaism class. I'm a little nervous about it. Judaism screams of angry bible god to me. However, upon further investigation, it's a nontheistic approach to judaism and the history/mythology of the bible. Should be interesting. I, like you, have always said if I returned to Christianity in any form, it would be Catholicism. They were the originals, afterall. Plus, they just have pretty services. I just wouldn't let my son be an alter boy, if you know what I mean! Then again, I allow my 9 year old daughter total autonomy over her spiritual life. She goes with me to events when she wants to, and sleeps in when she wants to. Our god is called Choice and her ahem I mean his holy spirit is freedom of thought.
For god's sake, man, get yourself some serious t-time! I'm married to an avid golfer and I insist that he get his quality golf time in!

"Hmmmm...anyone else detect the terrible, terrible irony of this story?
What if, as a JW, she finds out she needs a simple blood transfusion to save her life? How do you think she'll react to what her new 'minister' will tell her?"
Xander, these were my thoughts exactly upon reading this "piece". These stories are so contrived it's sad really. My 9-year-old could sniff out the blatant propoganda in this "experience".
Oh well.

Anyone heard of or been through a JW exorcism?
by Mimilly ingreetings, and wow!
did i enter this forum with a biggie.
i've been lurking for quite awhile - with some threads, laughing to tears, and others, reliving those years.

Xander,
I do not wish to hijack this very worthy thread, either. I do have some input on the practice of and experience with what the WT would lable as spiritism/witchcraft in my post WT malaise. I would be happy to share on a separate post in order to preserve this thread on its intended course.
Love,
Bridgette
p.s. to go along with this thread, all I remember was the J.W.'s being terribly frightened, and devoid of rational, scientific thougt processes on anything they did not understand. i.e., have a dream that comes true a few days later? the demons. Your intuition telling you that the WTBTS is a mindcontrolling cult?--the demons must be "planting" these thoughts in your head.
