can anybody say: STALKING? This thread seemed like an instructional pamphlet for stalking estranged spouses.
How pathetic when you can't take responsibility for your own life, and move on. Also, I noted this: "Her car didn't move all night, and the next morning I called and confronted her." offered as proof of an estranged wife's guilt. Well, this exact same thing happened to a sister in reverse (they parked all night in front of the husband's girlfriends house) and his car never moved. The elders still wouldn't grant it, because there was not enough proof. Of course, the whole elder body was a pack of good ole boys. She didn't want to be free so she could go out and find a "nice brother" (an oxy-moron imo) she desperately wanted closure. This guy had been severely emotionally and verbally abusive (to her and her children) for years and years--she finally gets the guts to leave with her 5 kids, and she got zero support from the congregation. In fact, she was viewed as somewhat of a Jezebel.
sick...

WOL: Free to remarry
by Moxy indont know if anyone pointed this thread out already or not but its pretty fascinating.
the incredible number of posts in a short time in what is normally a pretty slow forum shows how difficult a situation this for witnesses.
there are so many interesting and wacky comments being made there, you'll just have to read it for yourself.. http://www.witnessesonline.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/witnessesonline/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=6&t=000092.

Thanks! I agree it's nice to mingle around here in cyberspace, having a common bond. It doesn't replace Real Live warm bodies, though. It takes both, for me. Glad you're here! So, tell us more about yourself, friend Radar.
Where ya from?
What do you do?
What's your b-day? (Astrology's a hobby of mine)
What do you do for fun?

Interfaith Relationship
by Christina77 ini am currently involved in a relationship for the last year and a half with a man that i found out about 2 months ago is a jehovahs witness (and i am catholic).
the only reason why i found this out, was that i was pushing the issue as to why his parents do not know that i exist.
this really irritated me since he has a very close relationship with his parents.

First of all....Welcome Newbies!
Christina,
You've received so much advice here, that I don't think I can top. But I have to echo what Spider was saying, about him being split inside. There is the human side of him--the one who loves you--desparately, then there is the cult member (please make no mistake that this is a cult). As the cult member, he is suffering TREMENDOUS guilt. Even if it works out and you guys get married, there will forever be tremendous pressure for him to convert you (this is the purpose of having his magazines all over the place). When he met you, and when he's with you at times, he is disconnected from the cult group-think, but when he's with them, he's NOT THE MAN YOU MET. Yes, it can work out. But as long as he's a witness, you will not have as intimate a relationship as if he weren't. He'll always be split. Even if you convert, the cult will ALWAYS come first in your marriage.
Good luck, Christina. Maybe his love for you will be strong enough to break the shackles of the cult.
Love,

It's sounds like "buying time" to me. But, it's not in print, so, anything could happen. But 200 years gives a lot of cushion for them. By then, they will be so mainstreamed, they will not be recognizable from the fanatics they are today. Either that, or they will be non-existant period.

A Legal org to represent former JW issues?
by Pathofthorns inseveral issues, such as the un matter and others requiring comments to the press could possibly be better served if there were a small body of qualified individuals, including lawyers and other professionals and others that were former witnesses extremely well versed in jw issues.. comments to media, governments and various organizations on matters such as blood, child custody, child abuse etc would carry more weight coming from an "offical" organization.. in the former jw community there are many with good intentions but often find themselves making inaccurate or unrestrained, poorly worded or overly sensational comments.. these sorts of comments set the former witness community back and sometimes give credence to the labels placed upon us.
on the other hand, well worded, accurate statements made with a knowlege of how the wt pr machine works can effectively tie their hands and force the wt to make changes.. with this in mind, what is the viability of such an association to represent former witnesses?
it need not matter whether one is a christian or athiest or whatever, as the purpose would simply be to comment and investigate and expose wt policy.. i am sure this has been tossed around before.

Path,
Your post makes some valid points. When I first read it, my first thought was that they (WTBTS & R&F) would see this an organized effort from the so-called "evil slave" further feeding their collective psychotic paranoia. But then I remember that even to question them publicly, or to be uninterested in their message at the door, is tantamount to persecution to them. So, I think it would be a good idea to collect expertise, if nothing else, and make organized, professional efforts when speaking to the media/gov't regarding them. My goal is to just force them to be honest with their adherants as well as the public and especially the government they purport is Satan's organization. Maybe even be forced to make apologies if not reparations for the millions of lives they've inflicted suffering on. If they can't survive this, and go under it's no big deal to me. But I've no particular agenda to "bring them down".
So, how do we proceed from here? How does one form an official "watchdog group"?
Love,
Bridgette
p.s. In checking my spelling of "paranoia" I read the definition which is: A psychotic disorder marked by delusions of persecution or of grandeur, often strenuously rationalized.
Hmmmmm....sound familiar? LOL! -

Dear Kevin,
I'm so sorry you have to deal with this on top of your husband's death. It's grossly unfair. If you can do so, get an attorney. You may be able to go to this guy's local elder body and inform them of his unwarranted harrassment. But if they're just a tight knit pack of "good ole' boys", they may not help. But if they have an interest in keeping this "under wraps" to protect their reputation, then they may reign in this guy.
You did the right thing getting the police involved. Try to get a restraining order.
Peace and Love,
Bridgette
p.s. to answer your question: the hardline shunning that Jon's father punished him with all his life, is fairly typical. It's actually what they're supposed to do, if they go "by the book". They think they're showing love, and the wayward one will come running back. Sick, I know. Good luck to you, sweetie. -

My God! One gets the impression when one reads such vitriole that it's just SOOO bad, and SOOO overtly hateful, that it almost seems as if so-called apostates planted those words themselves there to inflict damage on their "happiest-nicest-people-on-earth" image. Then one remembers sadly, hearing those kinds of comments ALL THE TIME out in service about just unresponsive "householders"--much less so called apostates.
Their hate is so easily uncovered, because it's always seething just beneath the surface. Doesn't take much to bring it right out.
AAAAAHHH, god's loving organization.
pathetic....

Why don't we ALL just shut up and go away!
by Bridgette inso, why dont we all just shut up and leave the wtbts alone to its work?
this question comes up frequently from those still inside the organization.
i want to address this question from my humble pov.

oh and quick p.s.
I am not knocking anyone who needs to validly use public assistance. That's what it's there for. My line of reasoning was that the Org tends to encourage the abuse of such systems to feed it's printing empire gratis.
