1 John 4:1
by mjl inwent to the meeting this morning and stayed for the talk.
the speaker used a text that i thought was very ironic, 1 john 4:1 which reads " beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they origanate with god, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
" i found this ironic becuase we were trained not to test anything in the publications and never question what we hear from the platform.

I have been a JW for 40 + years, and I can say outright that we have always been taught to examine what we are told. I am preparing an essay to post here to show just that. For all of you that are going to jump up and down and say i am not telling the truth on this and cut and past from various articles, just wait for my essay if you have the patients to do so.
I mentioned this same scripture to the Service Department (Translated - JW Gestapo) and the 2 dub elders when I asked them about the UN affiliation.
As for JW Ben, give a copy of your essay to the elders and ask them some probing questions like the ones you read on this apostate site. Most of us didn't last as long as you have as a JW. We got out as soon as we saw the lies and BS.

The Gospel Truth.
by Blueblades inabout the only term that the society does not use is, "the gospel truth".. what they do use in connection with their current teaching:.
present truth, looking forward to new truths, their religion is the truth, infallible truth, revealed truths, rich truths, bible truths, great truths, precious truths, jewels of truths, unsealed truths, liberating truths, scriptural truths and established truths.. and that's "the gospel truth".would they lie?.

That's because they don't have a clue what it is. -

Thinking back
by purplesofa inmy bookstudy was at an elders house that lived a bit out of the city.
a small road with only his house and another.
the other house was the first you passed.....unsightly....trashed cars.......broken down bicycles............not trashy, but not like the bit of paradise at the elder house.. i remember the elder telling us how the man had become ill and lost his job working for the waterworks department, a city job, with little wages.

Will the Society come up with new prophecy to cover the lack of growth now?
by AK - Jeff inwas following mary's thread on the wt study of the annual report - what a hoot!.
in follow-up; for years we have heard that the org's growth was 'proof' of the 'truth'.
do you think the org will come up with some obsure scriptural/prophetic understanding to explain the reduced zeal for the 'kingdom' now?

by diamondblue1974 ini was reading the thread about the prospect of the wts releasing some new light shite about a prophecy to fulfil the fact that they are not growing and it brought back a really horrid memory, unintentional i know but horrid nonetheless.. the co visited the congregation were i was from and after the obligatory song and prayer, it was announced that the co needed to speak to us urgently on a local needs issue.
he came onto the platform his look was sombre and melancholy (nothing new there then).
he said he had an announcement from the governing body and that their had been a law passed that day which banned jw's in the uk that the usa and other world governments had notified the wts that they were to follow suit shortly.

We had the same shite introduction by the CO in my old hall a few years back with the same sigh of relief from the eager beaver dub section located at the front of the hall. What a sick, sick, sick trick.

Do you find any value in attending the occaisonal meeting?
by 24k indo you still attend the occaisonal meeting with your believing family members?
if so, do you find any value in what's presented?
i still attend the occaisonal sunday meeting with my believing wife in an effort to show my respect for her feelings and my willingness to be tolerant.

I am so fulfilled attending the occasional meeting... with my "Ask the elders about the WTBTS/UN Connection" placard as I stand outside and direct traffic into the KH parking lot.

The Trinity!

i have studied all the denominations of christianity, those who deny the deity of christ, and those who don't, those who believe in a trinity and those who do not.
after years upon years of diligent studies i have concluded:.

One thing that EX jws who become christians need to be careful with, is feeling that because they have opposed the trinity for so long, now that they are a christian they must accept it.
It's amazing that the JW's themselves do not believe in monotheisim.

You may find "New Evidence That Demands A Verdict" by Josh McDowell an interesting read.
I never believed in a Trinity or Triune composed of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit until I exited the WTBTS and really began researching the evidence for and against such an absurd thing.
After consideration of secular and biblical sources I no longer can discount that a Triune exists in heaven. I should have immediately recognised this from the scripture in Matthew 28 when Jesus said to baptise in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Also, contrary to the WTBTS's view that the angels would have wondered what kind of God they served if He had immediately destroyed Adam, Eva and Satan, how much more incensed they would have been had God been the only judge in the case. Hence, three judges make better than one in making an historic ruling.
