Board of bitterness
by 1009 ini always was a critical jw, now df and agnost.
but still this religion fascinates me.
in my eyes most jw are very sincere, but dumb sheep.. this board is filled with ex-jw.

What is the WT's definition of an Apostate...
by Bells ini don't mean the 'unruly men who cook up wicked reasoning and season their brew with poisonous lies that deceive minds' definition.... i mean - who are they actually referring to when they are doing these awful talks at the conventions about the mentally diseased apostates etc.. specifically - is an 'apostate' someone who was actually baptised (baptized for you american's ) ?
or can someone who was simply raised in "the truth" but left and was never baptised be classified as this lying, deceiving, mentally diseased apostate also?
or am i considered to be an apostate - even though i wasn't raised in the cult, never went to a meeting etc.

Nightmares when active JW
by MissConfused ini remember when i was active, i would constantly get nightmares regarding armageddon.. used to wake up so many times at night watch my window, pray hard and try to go to sleep.
now i wonder that this organization was really succcessful in making people scared to death about 'current system of things', but why would anyone do that?
why would anyone want to bring division in families, make hate speeches, scare people to death, etc?

I used to have the same nightmares and when I saw a large American flag I would get really scared.
No nightmares since leaving the cult and I pledge allegiance to the flag now.

I'm thinking about going back
by Corboy101 ini have been out for 22 years.i was raised as a jehovahs witness.

Corboy,
Churches teach that a person can know for sure that they have eternal life.
Jehovah's Witnesses are taught that they can not know for sure that they have eternal life.
Read 1 John 5:12-13 and ask yourself who is following the Bible in this important matter and who is not.

interesting Rumour
by Slidin Fast ini heard a rumour today to the effect that there is a new gb member in his late twenties/early thirties.
i stress that this is unsubtantiated and requires confirmation or quashing.. can anyone confirm or definately deny it?.
-
Honesty
If it turns out to be more than just a rumour the cult will probably refer to this Scripture if anyone doubts Jehovah's the GB's decision to invite young Brother Deluded to serve on the Sanhedrin Governing Body:
1 Timothy 4:11-12
Keep on giving these commands and teaching them.
Let no man ever look down on your youth.

Did the Apostle Paul teach and believe in the "bodily reserrection of Christ" doctrine?
by booker-t ini often encounter trinitarians that say all of the apostles believed in the bodily reserrection of christ.
they often point to isolated verses in the bible where jesus is called a "man" after his reserrection and this they believe is proof positive.
the seem to throw out all of the verses in the new testament that shows jesus arose "in the spirit" (1 pet 3:18).

Can anyone explain these verses to me?...
Colossians 2:9 - For in Him the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily
Luke 24:39 - See; my hands and my feet: it is I myself; put your hands on me and make certain; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have.
Revelation 1:17-18 - When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. He laid His right hand on me, and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last, and the Living One. I was dead, but look—I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades .
Thanks.
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring you to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realmbut made alive in the spiritual realm.

The real reason allegations of child abuse among JW's are not reported
by jeremiah18:5-10 inthis is my opinion, i don't have official quotes or official instructions to back this up.
what i have is real life experience of having been an elder that was involved in investigating an allegation of child abuse, why we didn't report, why we didn't encourage the parents to report.. its simple really, the main reason elders don't report is concern that they may lose their position in the congregation.
if you in any way "run ahead" of the society, you will be perceived as proud and arrogant and will be deleted!

Grammy's memorial service...
by diana netherton inwell, i guess i can't be shocked but it's been a while since i've been to a jw service.
i honestly felt like i was sitting through an amway sales pitch with my grandmother's name inserted every once in a while.
it's not personal at all.

I am sorry that you lost your Grammy.
And I totally agree with your description of kingdom halls...
" ghastly decorated underground bunker"
I have only seen one that didn't meet that description.
It was in a 3rd world country far, far away from any Bethel.
