Isnt the media attention especially TV way over the top ? in covering the seige in sydney or is it all about ratings .Entertainment ?
by smiddy indont get me wrong , what took place was appalling and certainly needed to be covered by the media , whether by radio tv or newspaper articles by journalists.
this was one lone man holding seventeen hostages for about 17 hours , traumatic ,frightening to say the least for the victims who were put through this ordeal , and sadly their were fatalities of hostages .
my heart goes out to those who suffered and endured this seige and especially those who lost loved ones .. my concern is mainly with the tv coverage , newspapers you get usually only once a day , and in a case like this maybe twice.. here in victoria , we have 4 ?

It is still all over the local TV news channels this morning.
Way too much coverage.
It would be a more effective deterrent for the media to show video of what happens to religious nuts who commit terrorist acts against society.
A 30 minute video showing the asshole being loaded into a body bag and transported to the morgue might cause other idiots to pause and think.

Want to hear something funny ?
by troubled mind inmy husband just won the city wide holiday light display for christmas i am so proud .
just a few short years ago i was the one that put a strand of white lights around the porch railing ,and a couple of lighted deer in the yard ....that brought the elders around real quick (after three years of silence ) at that time my husband was still holding onto the notion his faith was not bond to a cult .
it didn't take long after the 'loving sheparding call' for him to see things in another light.

OMG I hope Australia has "stand your ground" laws and this guy gets slaughtered where he stands. I hate ISIS so
much. Burn them all
From what i've heard and read Australians aren't allowed to own firearms except under special circumstances..
If that's so, look how well it's working out for them.

Hi world, and welcome to the board.
Try thinking outside the little box that the Watchtower stuck us in.
For instance, religion is man's attempt to connect with God while Christianity is God's way of connecting with man.
I sincerely believe that all a person needs is Jesus. If they have Jesus everything else falls into place where it should.
You mentioned 'breaking through racial barriers and teaching the same stuff worldwide' and that's all well and good UNLESS what is being taught is wrong and I saw more racial inequality in the kingdom hall than anywhere else. One of my JW friends married a sister of another race who is 30 years older than him and they were treated so bad that they moved almost 100 miles away into a different circuit.
You also said this:
" I have read and seen throughout history that they could have wrong teachings and that yes they have been wrong in the past about some things, jw normally say well we changed and the light got brighter. What is a good reply to that??"
EASY answer... they changed alright and are very proud of their flip flops:
December 1, 1981 Watchtower
Pages 26-27
Paragraphs 1-2
Light from God’s Word has flashed forth, like the sunshine on “a morning without clouds” to illuminate ever more clearly the pathway that Jehovah’s servants must tread.—2 Sam. 23:3, 4.
However, it may have seemed to some as though that path has not always gone straight forward. At times explanations given by Jehovah’s visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view.
Have a nice day!

Brother Knorr's Cadillac and other secret perks
by tim hooper inback when i was a wee lad, my dad told me that the brothers in brooklyn had voted to purchase a cadillac motor car for the sole use of the then president, nathan h knorr.
he'd got this information from the london bethel, him being a chum of the then branch overseer, pryce hughes and his pal ron drage.
religious leaders of non-profit sects are supposed to take a vow of poverty!.

The Jehovah's Witness/Watchtower Society is a cult.
Now that you all know my opinion of the organization, the Watchtower Society did nothing wrong ot underhanded in buying and using an airplane in Alaska.
Many people who live there own private airplanes to commute to and from their jobs because their isolated towns and villages are too far from the oilfields for them to drive back and forth.
Also, Alaska has the largest land area of any state with very poor roads and extremly bad weather conditions 6-8 months out of the year.
Flying is the only reliable means of transportation.
As for the fancy cars...

Why should you succumb to emotional blackmail from someone who obviuosly doesn't give a rat's ass about your feelings, thoughts, aspirations and standards?
Your spouse sonds just like my ex, who basically said the same things yours is saying.
Mine wanted all those things from me because it would make her look good in the eyes of other Jehovah's Witnesses. She didn't (still doesn't) care about truth or being true to one's self.
The best thing for you to do is to move on.
Make some real friends. I found out after I left the cult that there are many good, kind, loving people who aren't Jehovah's Witnesses. Some of them are Christians and some of them aren't.
Another thing I discovered after leaving is that most so-called 'worldlings' are a lot nicer, make better friends and don't stab you in the back like many in Jehover's organisation do on a regular basis and then claim they are 'imperfect' when you find out about their duplicitous behavior.

Sparky1 says:
"IF the Governing Body ever thought of doing such a thing and that is a BIG IF.................you can bet your bottom dollar that they would only procure free food, that was out of date, from grocery stores and other retail outlets. They would never, ever spend money on such a project. Then after they distributed the food they would 'pat themselves on the back' and proclaim loudly to the four corners of the earth how generous and 'christlike' they are. UGH!!!!!"
hoser says:
" Food banks don't help pay multimillion dollar sexual abuse law suits, but your generous donations to the world wide work will be put to good use."
Heaven says:
Still waiting on Jehovah to provide that second helping of manna...

That's the way it is in Jehovah's generous organization.
