JW: Why should I base my life on a 2000+ year old book of fables? Indeed jstalin, why indeed! I couldn't agree more! Anyone read a Prayer for Owen Meany? VERY interesting concept in the book about Owen being born to a virgin and how all the religions they turn to, spurned them and turned them away as freaks! And that is EXACTLY what they would do... Yet for some reason a book written by uneducated, supersticious people is accepted as gospal!!! I mean, talking freaking donkies? Talking, burning bushes? Talking serpents? (was there ANYTHING in the bible that does not talk???) Whales swallowing someone whole and spitting them out on a beach? Never ending fish being served? Water into wine at a wedding? GIVE ME A BREAK. Wake up and smell the coffee people!!!

What "Rules" Did You Have In Your Congregation?
by minimus inin our congregation, we had a theocratic ministry school overseer make the sisters stand while giving their talks because he would counsel them on a point of counsel having to do with speaking to the "householder".
(i forget that exact point of counsel) so the sisters knew they had to follow this imbecile's quirks or get a "w".
another rule that was eventually abandoned too, was that only elders and ministerial servants could offer prayer at the kingdom hall......any rules that you had to deal with??

Oooooh I am so glad I have "rediscovered" this site!!!
Let me think, let me think... daft rules we had in our congo, remember I was attached to the South African Bethel and was assigned to their main congo, so extra strict!
White shirts were the ONLY option.
Colourful ties were discouraged. Brown suits encouraged.
NO BEARDS. Mustaches frowned upon.
Sisters had to wear long skirts... I remember one sister being sent home to change as her skirt length stopped at her knees... this WOULD lead several young brother's astray! And it was mentioned at the service meeting and sisters were reminded about being "chaste and modest"
Also had the "don't sit in the same spot every meeting" rule
Mmmmm been a long time now since I attended a meeting... perhaps I should return and stir some sh!t again!

As soon as a GLARING hole is spotted it is filled with either the "metaphorical" argument or the "Only true believers understand the meaning"... in other words the mind warped masses of Dubs who are unable to think for themselves thanks to the guilt they have pumping through their veins.
