  I went to another church today...

  for the first time, i went to another church.

  it was like a youth church, there were lots of people my age there.

  before it even started, everyone was having a good time.

  my dad who owns a busisness...was told he could not do any work for the local catholic church or school...( he had just gotten a big for them)...and he came to find out the elder that forced this issue..( to the co )...himself signed a contract to do all...the churches work...( two diffrent feilds of work they were not in comption with other) my dad has written a letter to the wtbs.....wonder if it will help...what do you think...donald

  Kinda contradicts the fact that (allegedly) a congregation sold its KH to the Catholic Church, now doesn't it?

  guys and gals try this one on....i just found out that our local congertion...sold the old hall...with all its acrege...to the local catholic church to become a school.for preist.....i had thought the wtbs was to have no dealings with babylon the great....donald

  My local newspaper posts public notices of all real estate transactions; does yours? Please consider sending me a scan of the notice of sale in your local newspaper so I can post it on my web site as evidence of WTS having dealings with "Babylon" (or other documentation of the sale).   for a group that constantly bitches about people needing to accomadate it's beliefs and practices, jw's sure are inflexible and intolerant.

  i realize that we all already know that, but is of special irritation to me right now.

  my oldest sister, who is faded and now regularly attends a worldly church, is getting married.

  Pointing out the obvious: This is yet another example of JWs ignoring normal social etiquette. It is not up to a wedding guest (or invitee to any social event) to determine the venue, nor is it appropriate to complain about it. An invitee should simply accept or decline an invitation, not attempt to manipulate its conditions.

  if a dub asked you to give him some instances where the faithful and discreet slave ie their leadership has committed shameless and blatant acts of deception and manipulation on them, what would you choose to open his eyes to the realities of this issue?

  Anyone know of Anti-jw tracts that can be downloaded?

  looking for simple messages that will appeal to locals in anti-witness campaign.

  or if not downloadable ones - how about tracts that can be ordered from the publisher.. not wanting complicated or pro-christian ones, just something simple to make people not show interest in the 'truth'.. anyone?.

  I personally would have responded well to someone helping me out. Having zero help or support delayed my leaving.

  My opinion on anti-witnessing is 50% for and 50% against. I use the internet because I figure people who find my site are looking for it. An audience who is looking for your message is already half convinced. Paper and media campaigns do have some pros, but they have some cons as well. I admire anyone who has the guts to do them.

  This thread is funny!

  I remember one guy who started out the talk on the right topic, but immediately switched it to a talk about music...not the jw stance on music, just music in general. He spoke in a voice so loud they had to turn down the mikes. He went on for about 2x as long as his allotted time and kept talking even when the elder took him by the arm to escort him off stage. He ended up leaving in the middle of a sentence. That was his last meeting. At the time, I thought he was doing it to piss off everyone in the audience. It was hilarious. (He had been the dj for a dub wedding right before that and refused to turn the volume down or comply with the approved music list, despite the elders' repeated complaints to him. The elder finally unplugged the equipment. Again, hilarious!)

  Over a year after I told the elders I would never come to a meeting again, they sent me a notice that I had a talk, saying I had to do it. My mother said I had to come in and personally tell the elders I wouldn't do the talk or they would keep me on the schedule. She said I would be embarassed to find out they announced my name for a talk and I didn't show up. I said too bad--their stupid problem if they try to get non-members to give talks!

  You could do a copy and paste into word processing and reformat it to meet your needs. I would recommend using only portions of it to shorten it up, and typing out the links so people can verify it for themselves.

  I was initially planning on putting it in downloadable format, but I can't figure out how to do that.

  i wondered if anyone would give me their stories of how the wtbts stole their selfesteem....doesn't have to be long.. need to show someone that this is indeed what happens to some..... as a good friend of mine said .

  There are many....the first one that comes to mind is the constant use of cows as a symbol of women in the literature, and the attitude that women must be reigned in in order to not accidentally seduce or "stumble" the beloved men...and the attitude that "young people" in general were sins waiting to happen, as if they have no judgement or morals at all.

  Don't be so sure your statements will have no impact. Their rehearsed responses back to you are required of them..ya know...J is watching and all...but that doesn't mean you haven't sparked some independent thinking. I used to think independently all the time without voicing it.
