Does that mean if I buy old JW literature it's going to arrive with a demon or two attached to it?
I work for the Post Office, and I don't think I'd let demons attach themselves to mail items and let them go through the mailstream :p
remember the watchtower and awake!
used to print articles with experiences of how people bought items at garage and yard sales, and after bringing them home, were bothered by unseen spirits or demons?.
well, what is the world's largest garage sale in existence?.

What a price for a girl, a virgin, to pay for a few minutes of satisfied sex emotions!
Um yeah...now I know it was written by a man...assuming that the first time is totally filled with satisfied sex emotions! Bahahaha!
ok - so i had a talk/debate with a guy today who insists that he sees "nobody else talking about the end of the world" and that "the door to door work the jws perform is the best way to preach.
this guy has a brother who is disfellowshipped.
he has never been baptized, yet has an ongoing interest and believes the jws are a special people.
So...has anyone ever heard of a valid alternative to door to door preaching work? Hubby would like to get baptized someday...but he really can't bring himself to go door to door. It's completely out of his character. I was going door to door working on a political issue recently, and I can really appreciate how hard it really is to do. The subject that I was working on was gay marriage...which is probably comparable in popularity to JW's going door to door. I'm an outgoing person, so I know it is easier for me than for my hubby...so I can't imagine what he must have gone through in order to go door to door when he did a long time ago.
Any suggestions on alternatives he can offer? I just want him to be happy.

does god have a true church on the earth today?yes, and i will reveal it.it is the free will baptist church, which is true in every sense.they preach jesus, they study god's word correctly and rightly divide the word of truth.they are not led by a distant leader, they are led by their local leader chosen by god.if the sign out front doesn't say free will baptist then you are in the wrong church.look for that sign, and then you've found the right church.
Omg, keep em coming kitty! ROFL
i was just reading tyler's (new member)bio.
he was baptized at 11 years old.
jesus christ!
Former study here...so please forgive me if I don't know too much, but...
If a man's wife or children are having problems, then I would think it would be logical to cut off anything that would take up precious time that really should be used to attend to his first duty...and that would be to take care of his family. I'm frankly disheartened that this isn't something that is normally done when one experiences problems within the family to that extent. I think it should apply to minor children, however. Once they are grown and out of the house, they are on their own and responsible for themselves...hopefully!
Is it a vase? Or two faces?
It looks like a man in a hat with an upside down bell on his head.
Now you know why I don't know the answer to that question
that was the talk yesterday.
the speaker started by asking for a "show of hands" of who thought the end was very near?
i was sitting in the back row and believe i was the only one who didn't raise my hand.
I remember back in the early 80's when my family was attending Calvary Chapel. The Pastor made a point to tell us that the end was near, and he felt that the rapture would occur somewhere before 1990, but WE WOULD CERTAINLY NEVER SEE THE YEAR 2000 without the rapture and tribulation occurring before then!
Any religion that claims that there is a specific ending time is near is whacked. This was not only occurring at my particular Calvary Chapel, but at others, such as the founding one in Costa Mesa. It wasn't until later in life that I figured out it was a fear tactic to keep us brainwashed and in line. The JW's don't hold the copyright on this lie.
lets put all of our memorial stories/thoughts on one thread.
mine: 45 mins.
quick and boring.
I've been a friendly observer to the JW's for about 7 memorials now...and I didn't hear anything different other than the invitation to have a free home bible study.
A family member of my husband's was there that was disfellowshipped. I could tell she was hurting and I made a point to say hello to her, smile at her and make some small talk. I just can't be rude to someone, especially someone that admittedly made some mistakes, but heck, at least she's trying to correct it. I kinda felt hurt for her when I noticed she practically darted out the door at the KH when the thing was over. I'm sure that me talking with her didn't make some people exactly happy, but I just don't see the sense in being mean...especially since I really love her. Crap happens to everyone, none of us are perfect.
On a side note, the unleavened bread seemed especially unappetizing this time around. Not sure if it was because it was darker than I expected or what? Does anyone know what they do with the wine and the overcooked crackers when the memorial is over?
no longer can they hide things such as their hypocritical un involvement, policy changes on voting because they lost a law suit in france or trying to keep their image clean by keeping pedophile issues hidden in local kingdom hall closets.
the above quote was made by seven006 in a well written thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/78991/1.ashx).
can anyone inlightten me as to when the policy on voting occured, what the change was, and did it reach beyond the borders of france.
Is there a place that is an official site of the JW's that I can print that particular article from? I have to let my hubby know that he doesn't need to convince me how to vote on certain issues because he didn't have a voice! lol OMG what a dream come true, to have him be able to vote with me and participate in political functions.
I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. I think a JW would be more inclined to vote for someone that is non-intrusive on personal freedoms and choices.
i posted this on another thread but it suddenly seemed more important and i wanted to get some opinions!
i was still a dub when sterilization changed from a consciences matter to a no-no.
i remarked to my wife at the time that i thought the reason for this was a declining membership!
I think their position on in-vitro fertilization is remarkably consistant with what I would think a true anti-choice organization should believe. It's a position that probably is not popular I'm sure. A lot of churches out there claim to be pro-life, but refuse to even speak out against in-vitro fertilization procedures. They mix politics and religion only if it's convenient for them.
I'm a pro-choice Christian, but I would and have personally refused to partake in in-vitro fertilization because while I am pro-choice politically, I am pro-life personally. While I may not agree with those that would impose their religious beliefs on others through legislation, I find the JW's to be consistant in this matter. Not that I don't have a lot of other gripes against the organization, cause I do. Well, it's not like they are out there pushing for legislation either, hehe.
