I hate both terms to describe ex-jws. I know most people say "apostate" when they refer to an ex-jw that is an opposer now but some will say "so and so" is an "evil slave" now. Evil Slave sounds so "boogie man under the bed" that I just laugh when I hear the term. So ex-jws out there which term do you prefer "Evil Slave" or "Apostate"?

Te he he he he! I feel like you about that term Evil Slave! :D LOL

I guess with my previous post I was thinking more in terms of how other people would take the term but it still made me feel like "I've just killed God" feeling...
In the present tense I like the term apostate (but prefer much more "heretic") -- I mean look at me folding me arms in the avatar! I look "apostate-like" don't I? LOL
DANNY HASZARD IS THE APOSTATE KING!!! THERE IS NO ONE SO EVIL (OOOOOOH!!! HE'S BAD!!!) LIKE DANNY!
(No seriously, Danny is a good bloke. He was really hard done by by the Watchtower or is it spelt Witchtower -- sorry I am not a good speller. :D LOL!) -

Holy Nelly! Saying someone is an apostate, it's like as if they make you feel you've tired to kill God and you are some sort of Satan worshipper! :O That is so dehumanizing when people call you that! It doesn't have that effect on me at all, but you can still see what they are trying to do when they use that word.
I feel quite comfortable with "heretic" (it has a much more interesting sound to my ears) because it reminds me of religious apologists from the 13th century onwards who defended the Bible against the pope! :D -

by a council of men in the 4th century under the direction of the first
Christian Roman Emperor, that makes me have doubts that I never had before.
mainstream...such as that the trinity was bogus. So he was deemed a heretic and
his works were destroyed. And nothing was included in the "bible" that supported
his version. And what about all the other books that were voted out that didn't
make the final cut. What did those say?

I use to think Martin Luther was a hero, but when I found out that he persecuted Jews and peasants who wanted equal right I found out how much of a c___ he was! He might have brought Christian freedom (Ray had this thought most likely when he wrote that book -- in CR of CoC he does talk about this bloke) and had some good points, but the way he treated all those everyday people really makes me feel sick. Probably Wycliffe was better -- but then again I might find out awful stuff about him. WHERE ARE THE REAL HEROES!

Re: Trinity confusing ?
by A Paduan ini have seen and read various pieces of wt work stating how christendom's "trinity" is a thoroughly confusing vague mathematically impossible unattainable concept of illusion.
it's a very basic concept.
like asking "how can one person have the authority of the governing body if they aren't the governing body all at the same time ?

I think the flying spaghetti monster made all of those. There is as much proof that the flying spaghetti monster exists as much as Yahweh exists.

Questions:
If a Christian is getting good solid answers by praying to the Father as Jesus taught, why should he or she feel the need to pray to anyone other than the Father?
If prayers to the Father are not being answered, why would one think that he or she could do better by offering prayers to someone else?
___
Mmmmmm, but Muslims offer prayers to Allah. Some people consider it to be the same God as the Jewish and Christian God, but others disagree and they look at how different the stories of God in the Koran are! But they feel they get their prayers answered too! They claim this Mohammed (in which they always right 110% without fail peace be upon him, PBUH or whatever, yada, yada, yada in Arabic.......) bloke saw some angel called Gabriel. In Acts there was a riot in Ephesus over "Artemsis of the Ephesians" god. There are some people who still worship Zeus and feel they get their prayers answered too! But of course, Paul would say it's inspired expressions of demons, can't remember the Scripture, but you know what I mean. This Joe Smith blokereckons he saw an angel as well and wrote many upon many Scriptures (they actually get a continued "inspiration" from the leading "stake" division in Utah.)
Some people either make religions or make huge claims of seeing an angel or received a revelation, and some religions might plagerise a bit a long the way. Ring a bell? ;)
Most people stick with their own religions they were brought up with and think that is right and don't bother to look into "the true religion," whatever that is. But if you are living in a democratic country, there is no excuse anymore with this this multicultural Global world, the Internet... we bump into heaps of people who worship all kinds of gods and so people should investigate more like what I did and see what's out there! Believe it or not, I tried out Mormonism... I went to a few of their meetings but didn't feel right with me. I only went because I never heard of these people before and they seemed sincere... I've almost considered being Catholic once and went to a Buddhist hall and went inside a Mosque as well.
One main excuse religions say why you get answers even though it's the right religion as I've said is because you are dealing with a "demon god" and Satan is tricking you. -

Mary Re: Jews 4 Jesus....Do they believe and what do they believe. Old post 04-Apr-06 22:34
Actually, I subscribe to the Jews for Jesus monthly newsletter and I thoroughly enjoy reading it........I think I've always been somewhat attracted to Judaism rather than mainstream Christianity.....probably because Jesus and his early disciples were all Jews and he never told them to abandon their faith............I've never believed the doctrine of the Trinity, so it's really hard trying to find a religion somewhere inbetween Judaism and Christianity.
______
Here are other organized groups who don't believe in the trinity. You may like to consider these groups and get newsletters from them if you want to:
Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith
Doukhobors (Russian)
Christadelphians
Home Ecclesia Association
Iglesia ni Cristo
Makuya (Japanese)
Molokan (Russian)
Unification Church
United Pentecostal Church International
True Jesus Church I've actually seen this building in downtown Parramatta (very built up and city like suburb, in Sydney's West), Sydney, next to the Westfield Shopping Center complex. Interesting!
The Way International
The Bible Standard
Bible Students Online, An International Association
Christian Science
United Church of God
and of course:
Jehovah's Witnesses
17 denominations who don't believe in the trinity. -

Worship has more than one meaning (and I have researched this), like when we call the judge "your worship." But it doesn't mean we worship the judge.

It's a damn great book! This Raymond guy is a legend!
I'd recommend CHristian Freedom, it talks about how they didn't go from door-to-door in the early church and Fred Franz makes a retarded joke about going form the front door to the back (You'd have to read it! lol). But I think it's not as good as Crisis of Conscience, Ray drags on in it a bit more and there's too much padding in it. But buy it because Ray is a great bloke! :D
I'd like to buy more books of Ray -- religious or non-religious, but I guess he is getting on a bit now. He's suffered enough, he doesn't have to do anything if he doesn't want to!
I'd personally love to meet him in the resurrection! I don't think it would be possible in this life!!! I live in Aus and all... He gets way too much correspondence. That's why I stopped emailing him. He gave me the hint he couldn't do it. God bless the guy, will talk to him in the resurrection! :D Well, in some ways, I think there would be huge crowds coming to meet him! :( I'd wait a few months or something. :D)
GO RAY!
I don't think I liked any of those people he mixed with on the Governing Body -- At least Fred Franz was the main contributor to the New World Translation... But I think the way he treated his relative was bad and kinda undo's the good he's done! I only like the people that were disfellowedshipped really like Dunlop and the Hispanic guy, can't remember the guy's name sorry!
You could see they got rid of a nice guy, you could see by getting rid of Ray, they got rid of an important contributor to the org! He partially wrote Insight on the Scriptures for example.
Ray never wanted to leave! I find that amazing -- he went through the same crap as what we went through!
