Did anyone applaud the release of the OD book at YOUR hall?

there had been some buzz because no one was supposed to know about the release.. i swear everyone at my hall must be visitors to this forum.

or the elder's wives network must've done their usual job of telling everyone.. i would have expected an applause.

not even a line of people to get the book.

Hi all - our Watchtower went overtime yesterday, so i thought they werent going to mention anything - but there was a 5minute speech & the announcement of the book - the brother held it up and I thought he was holding up the old OM book at first....

Was there any gasps of delight - no, Was there a hint of a thanks or clap? - no

Was there a mad rush to the back - only your usual numptees formed a queue - our literature servant had vanished so it was a free for all...

People generally weren't that bothered or in a rush to get the book....rather surreal...

To echo other comments about why this book released was released on a sunday, its true that meeting attendance has dropped throo the floor....I thought it was the CO visit yesterday cos the hall was packed cos of the "special" announcement. Over the last few months we've had around 80-90 at the talk whereas in the past it used to be 130 upwards. Yesterday it was 120. Next Thursday (memorial) it will be packed and then I'd expect by early April it will be back to the usual low turnouts.

Can anyone answer these 2 questions:

1) It felt good knowing in advance what was actuallly going to be announced (having kept an eye on these forums). How do people on the forums find out so much info in advance?

2) This thread is talking about a meltdown of the organization - does anyone have any inside info on panic within HQ or GB?

time to swallow the red pill.. right now both books remain unopened - sealed in the amazon.com box buried in a backpack in the trunk of my car.

i feel like i'm smuggling drugs or something.. i'll be starting coc tomorrow ... .

this is more of a vanity post than anything.

I tried our local library but they don't hold the book (maybe its not as popular in UK?)!

May have to do the PO Box idea but its £53 a year in UK....

Any other suggestions - is the book available to download anywhere after you've paid for it??

If U have Windows XP Pro, try the following:

right click on internet explorer icon, properties, content, autocomplete, turn off autocomplete for webaddresses.
Close browser and then try again in a fresh browser.

See if this helps - what you need to do to keep the setting permanently (if U have winXP) is to enable a local group policy which stops anyone turning autocomplete back on again!!

Just had a laff when I read this post - I am thinking about getting a copy and am trying to decide where to put it - I too thought about the trunk under the spare wheel - its bloody crazy what lengths U have to go to isn't it??

The other problem I have is delivery of the book - I can't afford for the postie to deliver it to our house whilst I'm at work and the wife/kid opens it and all hell break loose....can't deliver to work cos admin open your mail anyway! Does anyone know of where I could get an online copy of the book (I'm happy to pay for it) - it would be far easier to access the book online as I have access to internet all day @ work.

DA-ing Announcement in the Society's New Book

the society's new book 'organized to do jehovah's will', to be released in the congregations .

on the 20th of march, introduces a change in the df and da announcements.

announcements will read the same: "[name of person] is no longer one of jehovah's .

Hello everyone....

I'm new to this forum and have found everyones comments interesting....(by the way I am a JW but like many have concerns/issues about the organisation leadership and how we're being led......

My questions are: I got a copy of March KM this week and it mentions the announcement to be made in March at the sunday meeting -- how did u guyz get info on what the announcement is about - presume some leak from London Bethel/New York ??

What concerns me though is that I know of numerous people who are classed as "inactive" but are still JWs - this includes some of my family....they've never been kicked out, but simply choose not to attend meetings or F/Service....do we really think these ones could be targets of local elders on a witchhunt to as a previous comment mentions, purge undesirables? If anyone gets any info/documents of this nature it would be interesting to see these!!

Clarifying the new policy regarding DF'd and DA'd announcements

i read that in the new organized to do jehovah's will book coming out in march at the kh, elders will on say sister so and so is no longer one of jw's.

an elder that i work with said that they will announce from now on joe bloe has been disfellowshipped from the christian cong and is no longer a jw.

or jan bloe has disassociated herself and is no longer one of jw's so they are still going to say df and da but i think they are going to drop the part "conduct unbecoming of a christian" because this can get them into legal trouble when a person goes to the military or votes or takes a blood transfusion.
