I have visited a number of times- even went out in field service once-- and I never actually said I was a JW- just visiting from out of town- anyway, it is an eye opener to see how the meetings have changed and how they haven't changed. I had to stifle myself last time, in the service meeting when the elder talked about how the community respects JWs , because of their honest lifestyle- and even the thugs in bad neighborhoods won't harm them- the angels are protecting the, etc, etc. The old bobble head JW mentality is still alive and well. After the meeting I nicely informed the elder who gave that talk that he was full of BS- the community does not like JWs ( shunning, lack of social action and charity, aloofness, stuff) and that is why they don't want to talk to them.

It's too bad that more people don't tell JWs to their face what they think of them, as they really feel they are wonderful people.

2 jws just called on my door

i saw them coming down the street...the excitment grew.....then 2 people walked up to my door.... .

one could hardly speak english...struggling to invite me to the memorial....i said "why should i go".

they told me ...bec jesus died for everyone just one day a year is very important.... .

The JWs do lie at the door about shunning , as they can't defend it and it's a real conversation stopper for them. Their shunning turns them into a social pariah in the community-

We have plenty of JWN members who could provide a very similar story to a reporter in the US, Canada and UK, etc- except they don't want to upset their JW mumsy and popsy who are shunning them for quitting the KH.

Does anyone really know Obama? We have long winded debates from Abraham lincoln- his own words- and a hand written Gettysburg Address- ---but what do we have from Obama that is really HIM? He uses a teleprompter for almost everything- what did he write? Most likely he used speech writers for most of it--- the few times he tried to speak in his own words we got some glimpses of who he is-- I doubt that he has even studied American History in school- 57 states? His dreams book was ghost written and has been proven to contain many outright fibs about his family and childhood- He stated (and michelle, too) last Sept13th that he was born to a single mom, not raised by a single mom, but born to a single mom- which is the same as saying he was born to an unwed mother- however IMO, he was telling the truth. I also think he made a freudian slipup and revealed his true birthday wasn't August 4th- back in July-15th-2011, when he mentioned, "I'll be turning 50 in a week" ( an almost 2 week difference)-His family name in Indonesia was Soetoro and skip tracer databases have verified a Barack Obama and a Barack Soetoro at the same NY address Obama occupied while in college. Was Obama adopted?-was his name changed?

The have dinner with Barack fund raiser was a great way to get close to Obama--Sept 16th, why, you could even learn how his daddy taught him to love jazz music- but don't forget, he told had told us he was born to a single mom- I don't think Obama Sr taught barack anything- except how to show up in an airport one time to say- hi kid.- jazz is not a Kenyan thing.- but Frank Marshall Davis loved listening to Jazz music, when he wasn't taking pornographic pictures of Stanley Ann Dunham.

just look at this deity: he's all powerful, he's jealous, he falls into rages over trifles, he punishes other for being cruel and unloveing but he himself gets off scott free when he is unloving cruel, challenging him is considered a sin, you cannot worship other dieties, he alway tells the truth(unchallenged), his word is alway truth(not to be challenged), obeying him leads to life disobeying him lead to death, he's blood thirsty but justified, and the list can get quite big.. this type of diety falls naturally in line with those who have narcissistic personality disorder as the diety has it and so he would have drawing power over those that suffer from this or those already worshipping this deity would start to think like him as they work into their thinking his justifications thus giving themselve a green light to entrench their thinking or align their thinking to his disorder.. .

When you postulate and don't provide facts to back up your statement, it's fairly tale talk, nothing more. I sense some Mormon dogma being slipped into this conversation.- What are you doing counting LDS preaching time?- shouldn't you be busy in the LDS archives finding dead ancestors for proxy baptisms into the Mormon church , instead of hanging out here with ex-JWs?

what happens when we don't take the test, because nobody told us about it? - How do you fail the test and what happens to the winners and losers?

My goodness- CS, you will need an new topic to enlighten us. Some of us are getting up in years and don't have much time left to find out about this test-

PS- in my 62 years of life, I have never had a LDS missionary ring my doorbell. I have seen them out an about on bicycles, but for some reason they never make it to my street before their 2 year mission is finished.

The the book of Mormon reads like a clone of the King James Bible, if you are going to translate something you use the common language of your time period- and as TD pointed out, you don't include older Bible translation errors-

Every civilization leaves trash behind. The Mormons have had about 10 years to deal with the dna results- for the most part, they have chosen to ignore the facts= their Book of Mormon is a work of fiction, not a heavenly revelation. What else do you call that, but a voluntary form of mind control-- and I never got to the Joseph Smith ancient Egyptian scam he pulled on everyone- he claimed to be able to translate hieroglyphics- before anyone else could. The Rosetta stone finally proved that Joseph Smith was a charlatan when it comes to his ancient Egyptian translation.--
