like schools- jw's want good schools for their kids but would never serve on the pta or other school committee.

Wow , lot's of good examples! Ever notice how defensive JW's get when the topic of charity comes up. They know deep down that their organization is a sham when it comes to helping the poor. I forget, the reason why the stopped charging for sandwiches at Assembly's, was it to keep a tax exempt status? They still expect DONATIONS don't they! They don't pass out free sandwiches outside to the poor and homeless, that's for sure. I remember an elder bragging in the old days how much profit they made from food service, drinks, popcorn,etc.

I sometimes felt guilty when I was a JW by taking advantage of the system and not putting anything back. The only JW's who have advanced degrees were brought in from the outside. And don't forget the Red Cross- got to get my free handouts. Any other examples?

I have some phone calls I can't wait to make to elders at my old KH- "See, I was right- they are just a bunch of crooks and liars in Brooklyn" .
Will this be big enough to bring the WTB&TS down? If the WT magazine loses it credibility, then the dubs might start thinking for themselves- It's up to the Corporation's directors to make sweeping personel changes to avoid a collapse of the organization. I'm waiting for the story!!!

I say "let them have their Pauline fantasy" ,for without Paul there is no Christianity . The writings about Jesus are too unreliable for me to trust them, but every man has a right to some religious belief system-as long as it doesn't harm anyone. I might someday put JW's in that category , with some changes in their rules and doctrines.

looking too deeply, or does this not seem to be biblical proof that paradise, with all its teeming of wild and domestic animals have the possibility of being governed by mankind?.
in reality, wouldn't it be nice to live in a world free from all the pain and discomfort of being, only human?
In my view there will be no future Earthly paradise - we have it as good as it is going to get. The downward spiral has already started. Do we expect G-d to suspend natural laws to keep our planet safe? If G-d didn't stop that asteroid from wiping out the dinosaurs, then what makes us think he will deflect the next big on from hitting us ? Will he stop the next natural ice age cycle? From the perspective of animals and the environment humans have already destroyed most of our natural Earthly paradise. You can't stop natural cycles ,and climate swings could make human habitation above 40 degrees latitude impossible- maybe before this century is over. Oil and coal have powered our lifestyle and population growth. Solar and wind power hold out some hope for a sustainable civilization , but I am afraid it will be too little,too late to prevent a collapse of society. Our governments and corporations see no urgency as long as there is money to be made with the present business model.

my guess is they are.. maybe in a different way than walking under a ladder, or seeing a black cat cross their path.. i'm talking about demons, and spirits, and things of that nature.
i hear a lot of talk about these kind of superstitions, mostly among j.w.
's on this board, and also in the j.w.
I remember when the Pac Man video game came out and Elders warned the youth not to play it. Why? Some of the game animations were called " ghosts". Are they still telling kids to stay way from video games? -Or the big bad demons will get ya!

so thats what it feels like.. i am not df'ed or da'ed, ... i have just stopped going to meetings.
my wife is trying to be as active as she can.. so all morning i am out of my regular routine.
late getting out of bed and late about everything today.. so i leave the house, and before getting to the office, i decide to stop at the mall for a quick, maybe 15 min, walk.. as soon as i get inside, taking my coat off, here is the elder who did everything he could in his power to get me out...and lied...and added to gossip that ran me outta there.. he and his wife spot me .. and turn there heads away and continue on their walk, .. eyes fixed on some thing away from me.. so thats what it feels like.........now i know.
Jehovah's Witnesses have become strangers to me. It has been a long time since I have seen one who knows me from the old days.If I saw one who knows me, I would treat them like any stranger I might run into at Walmart. I live in a Jewish neighborhood and after 4 years they have yet to come down my street- Latter Day Saints stay away,too.

) my bud mark smith and i picketed the kingdom hall in ann arbor, michigan.
our signs had a watchtower drawn on them and said 'this religion is a snare and a racket!
I pulled a few stunt's ,too. I realized early on that many ex-JW's are too consumed with a latent fear of the elders to take any kind of stand against their oppression. I gave up when I couldn't get any support for even an informational picket . The JW phone helplines were popular 20 years ago as they were nonconfrontational in nature. I had one for awhile, too- ///-why-1975. That has all been replaced by the Internet,today.
My final Mea Culpa was to visit every house in my hometown and leave a tract ( written and printed by yours truly) that explained the true dangers of JW membership. It took me the better part of 6 months to do this. The back page of the tract had a cut-out "no visits by Jehovah's Witnesses" with instructions to tape it to the front door. It worked, and I went on with my life.
Even today ,I am sure this town continues to be dead zone for JW's.
