Why can't you just move on?

that's what my wife said to me the night before last.

i was making an observation about the way my family and other jws in my life are constantly trying to get me to go to a meeting or read an awake, but they never want to sit down and address the questions i have raised to them.

she then asked me why i can't just move on.

I feel for you as I can see a slow replay of what happened in my house. It is my opinion that at some point you will slip up and say something that will put the "apostate" label on you. Once that happens it's over- your wife will stop the dialogue. The final act in your wife's play is called " I'm divorced,with WT approval, due to absolute spiritual endangerment from my husband"

It's sad, but we are just outside observers in this marital death spiral- we don't see many JW spouses who are able to stay married to a spouse who openly leaves the org. . It's like quicksand, I'm afraid- the more you try to help your JW wife see your point of view, the quicker you will get sucked under and get DF'd or disassociated.

Something significant changed in the WTS in 1984... but what was it???

looking at this chart i can't help but notice that pre-1984 the growth statistics were extremely erratic.

then, all of the sudden in 1984 the growth statistics calmed down and have ever since fallowed a much more stable trend.

it's almost a straight line after 1984.. so what happened?

My guess it has something to do with demographics. The last generation of JW's started to get baptised- the ones who were the post 1975 generation- many JW's started to have children right after 1975- soon they would be young teenagers and be pushed into getting baptised.

If JW's could have secret ballot or poll in the KH-

i wonder what would happen if jw's could have a secret ballot/poll in their kh's?

would they vote to eliminate field service requirements?-yes, i think.

three hours of meetings during the week?- voted down shunning?- voted down blood transfusion penalty?- gone,too others?.

If JW's could vote their conscience, the KH as we know it might not even survive for one year- If only they could vote. How to get this done, that is the problem. The only vote available now is the one to stay or leave.

the general feeling on this website is that all religions have gods people in them.so why does it matter to you all.that you believe you were lied too?you show me a religion that is with out fault?show me a religion that has the total truth from the bible?

with out doubt despite what people say the jehovahs wittnesses.have the closest to the truth

You are right Mr. Kim! An open-minded ( like the JWD forum) dialogue is the most dangerous of things to happen in a KH. The elders will squelch any informal chit chat or "personal feelings" about any WT related topic. If JW's could vote by secret ballot, they would be surprised how unhappy the majority are with the present WT belief system and its chaffing system of control. But they can't vote can they?

JW's at your door

last saturday my brother in law answered his door to a man that asked " are you worried about the environment and pollution"?

my brother in law said" yes i am " .

as they chatted for a few moments ,the man at the door reached into his briefcase case and pulled out his bible.

I'm an environmentalist ,too. I'm trying to clean the world of all this "JW Trash". It will then be a much better world to live in.

SOME GENUINE QUESTIONS FOR PMJ

i have some genuine questions for you pmj which i hope you will take the time to answer;

i was brought up as a witness and left over a decade ago; i have always struggled with these points and hope you can provide an explanation.

the main answer to the questions in relation to wickedness being permitted is that jehovah is proving satan to be a liar (in other words to prove a point).

The answers I was given many years ago made perfect sense then.

Since it is impossible to know the mind of G-d, the JW explanation using human logic would be certain to be wrong on all counts. How about the WT's perfectly logical explanation of the "King of the North"? Does it still make perfect sense like it did in the bookstudy back in the 50's-60's? How about their perfectly logical explantion on why Christians couldn't have an organ transplant? Discarded over 20 years ago, but not before many innocent JW's died who could have have lived with ,say a kidney transplant. The only thing that makes sense to me is that Jehovah's Witnesses are singularly blessed with selective amnesia and a severe case of tunnel vision- that is why they are still going to the KH.

No JWs in sight....what happened to them?

i have been living in my new house since november.

i have been home every weekend, saturday and sunday mornings.

i live in a big city, in a densely housed area.. there has not been a single jw door-knocker this entire time!!!!

I believe thay have gotten lazy about doing cold calls. I suspect they divide up the interest slips sent to the KH from visitors to the WT website. Rather than go door to door they do follow up and deliver the requested magazine or book. They are receiving a lot rebuttal at the door now and are probably scared of running into closet apostate types like me who could threaten their spirituality.

The GREATEST IRONY of Shunning and Disfellowshiping

as i adquire more knowledge, or other kind of knowledge, i see things more and more in another light.

With all Witness discipline, it's ALWAYS the Witness people who get disciplined. They shun me, but it's THEM who can't talk to me. I can talk to them and anybody else on the planet I want to. :-)

Think of all the effort the JW's have to put into this practice- trying to remember who they can't talk,to- well maybe they can now-just to invite them back- no, now you can't ,we changed our rule. He's in the family so necessary contact is allowed- hmm, what is defined as necessary- I'll have to ask the elders. On and on it goes for them. Those of us who are shunned just go on our merry way enjoyng life as we see fit.

Same for me- going on four years here- No JW's- I have moved a few times and nobody has me on a DF'd list- so far one field service visit in the past 12 years and that was about 8 years ago. Do you supose the Witnesses have have finally taken the hint that nobody wants to be bothered by them? They used to do the territories at least once a year, didn't they?

They have taken a collection of Hebrew stories, oral history,ancient writings, and PR writings about Jesus and turned it into an understandable & semi-logical Biblical essay in progress. Their explanations are always under construction,too.
