Welcome!
4th generation family? That is really impressive. I'll bet those JW relatives can't wait for the big WT party next year- all year long- be sure and remind them- you know how forgetful JWs are.
just a (slightly) quick introduction for now.
i am a 4th generation born in.
father an elder since i was an infant.

No religion or human belief is safe from the effects of confirmation bias-- JWs and Mormons have a lot invested in their religion--consequently, it is very hard to get them to objectively look at negative information .
our congregation is rationing regular bibles like they're gold bars.
i was told that bethel is out of stock!
anyone else hear about this?
Outlaw, lmao!-- do we see a backup #2 in the backyard--heheh
i can't scan the memorial invitation for 2013, but i was looking at it today and noticed something curious on the front drawing.. we have jesus as the central figure of the composition.
to his right and bottom, a large crown, in colour, of shiny happy people of diverse origins.. separated from this by the figure of jesus, is another group, a much smaller one, on the left and as if ascending to the top, and grayed.. clearly portrayed in this group is the face of ct russell and apparently william tyndale.
but then, also sarah and abraham and other personalities of the ot seem to be represented there.
Hey, those artists stiffed Judge Rutherford!!- Pastor Russell made it, why not him? After all, he built a very grand house, Beth Sarim, for the princes and kept a 16 cylinder Cadillac in the garage for the princes of old! Sure, he had his faults, but he did come up with the name Jehovah's Witnesses, right?- doesn't that valuable brand count for something?
i have read some of you talking about baptism not being a legaly binding contract as, for most it was undertaken as a minor.
has anyone successfuly nulled their baptism and exited free of consequence?.
If this gives you some mental freedom, you can write to bethel and explain what you are doing this. The elders will still announce you as no longer being one of them-- It's not a get out of jail card as far as avoiding shunning, if that is your plan. Besides, you really don't have any sort of contract with WT org.- no money was exchanged and no signatures afixed to any baptismal document.
in luke 11:13 jesus refers to his beloved deciples as wicked.
the wt (and most jws) see themselves as faithful and discreet.
they are teaching people to be self-righteous arent they?.
I remember reading a story about a Baptist church pastor who admitted (off the record) that he was agnostic. Jesus wasn't his Lord and savior. So why did he continue preaching?-- wasn't he a hypocrite? In his mind he was providing a service to the members. They wanted to be spiritually uplifted, hear Jesus stories to make them feel better, and have someone to pray for their salvation and healing. He did all of that with good showmanship, but he just didn't believe in it personally anymore.
The JWs are JWs, because they want to cheat death and go straight into a paradise Earth and live forever as perfect humans. If they wanted to float on a cloud with Jesus, they would have joined that Baptist church down the street. The GB is providing those faith building services to JWs just like the clergy do.- They keep the hope for the new system alive!!
For instance, take the new overlapping 1914 generations dogma. They GB came up with it , because of a demand from JWs for an explantion why the 1914 generation appeared to be dead (80 years was long gone)- and still no new system. Surprisingly, the JWs don't want the truth, they really don't, instead, they want a plausible explantion for them to keep kicking the 1914 can down the road. Subconsciously, they don't want to lose their sunk cost investment of a lifetime of WT religious service. Consequently, they really have no choice here- accept the ridiculous changes in 1914 generation dogma or leave the KH and find a new religion.
So, no the GB/WT org does not see itself as being evil- they are providing the meat in due season, however rancid it might be to us, to the regular JWs who will eagerly feast on whatever message comes out in the monthly WT rag.
Coming soon to a Kingdom Hall WT study in your neighborhood.
glibness/superficial charmgrandiose sense of self-worthpathological lyingconning/manipulativelack of remorse or guiltshallow affect (genuine emotion is short-lived and egocentric)callousness; lack of empathyfailure to accept responsibility for own actionsthe hare psychopathy checklist-revised by robert d. hare, 1991. multi-health systems, 908 niagara falls blvd, north tonawanda, new york, usa, 14120-2060. psycopaths do not feel empathy but learn to imitate those who do.
psychopaths don't even understand charity.. .
i was thinking today how much psycopathy is reflected in the governing body leadership and especially manifested in policy.. jehovah's witnesses are not led by people devoted to charity, benevolence, outreach or social provision for those less fortunate which.
When you add up all the bad stuff that people do, you will see that most of them have a common denominator at heart= lying. Somewhere in the process is a lie, which is why you need to learn to recognize the difference between a mistake and deception and then act on it.
Which is why JWs can't escape- if JWs do have an inkling of WT deception, they fail to take protective action like a normal person would= get away from these people.. I guess the leaders and regular JWs have a host-parasite relationship. And JWs are the ones getting the life sucked out of them.
i'm sure many of us still remember these times when the organization used to sell food at conventions.. i also remember that when this was stopped, the official reason was that the "brothers" were missing some of the program because of all the preparations.
typical watchtower "pretend we care" excuse.. i've wondered if there is another reason behind it, tied to perhaps finances or logistics that was the real deciding factor.
history and typical "modus operandi" of the society tells me that if there was some money to be made that way, they would not have stopped.. wonder if anybody has more info on this..
Making fresh Donuts and Soft-Serve Ice-cream at the Assemblies
designs,
we had our own popcorn and mini-donut machine in our circuit- the brothers really jockeyed to get the jobs running those machines-- of course, they had them, because they were big money makers for the circuit. Can you believe , we prepared fresh hot lunches for Saturday and Sunday sessions of the Circuit assemblies back then? - The JW human experience has gone into the toilet from what it was when I came in over 40 years ago-
we've missed some meetings due to work and thinking it's bs and also one night my husband got drunk n fessed up n had a shepherding call n now the e is coming to see 'how we're doing'.
help me please i dunno what to do..
Nice story Juan- thanks.
