  My Mum's gone

  a few months ago i noticed that my mum had put her house up for sale, she doesn't live far from me and i had occasion to drive past her house.. well i've had a funny unsettled feeling all week, and i drove along the back of her house yesterday, and all the curtains were gone, she'd obviously left.

  feeling brave i drove round the front, and yes its empty, doesnt look like she's been gone long.

  i got out and went in the back garden, and looked through the windows.

  When your mom is old and looking for family visits from you and the grandkids, perhaps she'll realize then that she made a huge mistake putting the wishes of men she's never even met, above her own family.

  I can see it coming... New Light will say that if you are in need of financial support because you didn't go to college and learn to make a good living, don't blame god or go to the 'brothers'. Theocratic Warfare says it is 'ok' to dupe your shunned ex-jw children into thinking you are welcoming them back into your life in your old age in order to take advantage of their finances. In the next WatchTower, "How to scam your wealthy worldly children while at the same time maintain your loyalty to the GB."

  My parents did not come to our wedding either. But, get this... My mother called her non JW-sister (my aunt) and asked her to go to our wedding as a representation of 'the family'. Of course I was quite happy to have her there, but what the blue blazes was my Mom thinking? That calling in a stunt double would be ok or make us feel better? Good grief! What a looney-bird.

  My mom just called

  my biological family has been shunning me ever since i daed back in 1998.. my mom opened by saying that she's been thinking about me lately and then we chatted a bit to catch up on news.

  i told her about my toilet training my two cats, my recent nose surgery, my running and how things are going well at work.

  she told me about how my dad had a medical issue come up in july and how it was treated.. normally my biological family will only contact me when someone dies.

  Elsie, I'm happy for you... but... please do keep your guard up. It's like they are pulled in two directions at once. Religious directive says, "shun" and the natural 'hard wired" directive says, "love your children above all things." It's got to be hell for them as well but no less emotionally frustrating for you.

  I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. It must feel very sad. It's too bad that you cannot buy the home yourself. I can't say I haven't had my own fantasies about buying the home I grew up in... Maybe some day.

  Reflection in the Mirror ...

  mom used to laugh when i, as a little boy, would look into the mirror and ask my reflection, "why am i so uggily?

  " well, i should have felt some reassurance when auntie rose took me into her capacious arms and declared, "you're a cute little fart!".

  certainly the old dear was dotty as well as biased toward me - rightly so, i would imagine.

  For some reason, about 10 years ago, every mirror has conspired to refuse to show a reflection of me. All I ever see is my mom... I hate mirrors...spiteful creatures that they are!

  Say, "I'm really sorry, Sis, but I am very uncomfortable with allowing anyone to use my computer. It contains sensitive information and allowing someone else to use it, even you I'm afraid, well, it would feel like an invasion of privacy. I hope you understand." then, change the subject and move on. Don't let them drag you back into the discussion and make sure that if they try it say, "You know, I told you how I honestly felt and it makes me uncomfortable that you are continuing to push this. Please, can we just drop it now?"

  December 15 watchtower. is the end next year?

  i'm not sure if this has being discussed allready but there was some interesting comments on the dec 15 wt which seem to point as "next year" maybe being the end, i don't have the articule with me but i wonder if anyone here knows the part i'm referring to, if i don't get any possitive comments i'll go and look for a copy of it.

  its just more scare stuff.

  we have such an interesting group of people from around the world on this board.

  it might be interesting to have a thread where you discuss a hobby, something interesting that happened in the past, somewhere you've been, etc.. not deep, dark confessions - just interesting stuff.. .

  * i have travelled into all 48 american states that are not named alaska or hawaii.. * for the past few years, i have had a slight walking impairment due to a form of arthritis known as ankylosing spondylitis.

  Wow... very unusual, indeed! My little boy was born with pinky toes that cross over the top of his feet. "special toes" :) so far they haven't given him any trouble. Just have to buy shoes with lots of 'toe room'.

  Long haul Truck Driver...

  That's what Hubby wants to be. He's got his CDL, but I'm not thrilled that he'll be gone so much.
