That our eyes are all opened and all at once become realists...that Buddhist philosophy replaces degenerative organised religion...that capitalism subsides and individual movements push for a soltution to global warming/dimming...that we defy learnt behaviour and get back to grass roots world concerns...we take individual responsibility for the state of the world...

what's yo fantasy?!
by kittyeatzjdubs inso me and my boyfriend were discussing this last night and i wanted to get y'alls opinion.
when the org crumbles and falls how do you see it happening?
i like this idea: the fbi raids bethel, finds a bunch of illegal stuff (money laundering, list of known and active pedophiles, etc.

Do you believe in the power of prayer?
by cab1000 intoday, i was talking to a close family member....he owns many stores of a business...he was telling me about a huge deal going down for him, in his favor.
he is an elder.
a lot of brothers work for him.

Prayre is just another way of verbalising what the mind and heart wants...if you pray about it, it usually means you have proactively done something about the situation. People like to attribute their successes to a higher power because it makes them feel loved and cared for, the reality is that we make our own way in this world, with of course help from those we enlist.

"If WTS is so intent on recruiting new members then...
by rebel8 in...why are they also so intent on kicking people out?
you'd think they'd want to be more lax in order to keep their membership numbers up.
"--question asked by my non-jw husband.

Witnesses get a kick out of the exclusive nature of the org...it's easy to justify the mass numbers evacuating the org as those not having a fit "heart condition"...cramped and narrow is the road leading to life etc. This is a core difference between the WT & the Roman Catholic Church who are more than willing to bend their rules to maintain their numbers in order to keep their coffers full. I remember clearly those talks from the platform about the gap between the "world" and the org should be clearly widening, as the "worlds" standards get lower, and the WT standards remain the same, this has a continued elevating effect and a setting apart of the witnesses as the only pure religion blah blah blah;-)

Did you Ever Dream About Armageddon?
by Englishman injust the once.. i was 19 years old.
i was stll fairly pure except for the odd escapade that involved just a touch of finger-pie.
so there was some semblance of guilt hanging over my head.

OH god yes, those were some of the most vivid dreams ever!. I remember one particular dream of Harmageddon I managed to repeat in the exact detail on 3 seperate occassions, who need cable eh'?!! Those dreams were always similar to the 'artists impressions' published in the Revelation Book or similar. There were always shattering earthquakes...strangely enough I always found my self on the broad and spacious road leading to destruction!! I remember feeling really disconcerted that there weren't many people around, and my family was nowhere to be seen. It never felt like a potentially liberating experience...oh the memories...in contrast to nowadays where I dream mainly about sexfrog

Hello all! New (In)Active Member!
by technics1200 innice to meet u. i have been a lurker on this forum for as far back as i can remember.. i was brought up as a fairly devout jehovahs witness since the age of 5.

Wow that's some experience T1200, certainly not the typical ex-jw experience that's for sure! As twisted as this might sound, alls well that ends well...this situation, although highly unpleasant, may have served its purpose in that you've been able to question the most fundamental structure in your life. Despite that they have your record on file, you have certaihly achieved greater mental freedom outside the org. It takes a long time to rid yourself of the affterefects from the org, but fortunately we're still young enough to move on and re-create something of ourselves. All the very best to you. luv froglet

Why don't people put anyting in ther bio????
by Lehaa in.
was just looking at the depression post and looking at pepole's biography.. why doesn't a lot of members put anything in there bio.. i undersatnd that many may not want to be identified, but i think bio makes it easier for us to undersand each others history.

There are no doubt similarities in the hierachical structure of both the RCC & WT, however the College of Cardinals are extremely well educated men and some avid pollitions. If you've had a chance to visit Vatican City, the Vatican museum and the Sistine Chapel you will see what a rich cultured history the RCC has (not advocating the abmonable storing up of wealth, the pope's art collection has been valued as priceless), compared to the WT which has a short sad history and hopefully future...frog

What religion have you changed to now that no longer a witness?
by AK - Jeff ini know many have rejected the idea of organized religion.
i teeter on that myself.
but i have toyed with hooking to a little country church with some friendly people to associate with.

I'm dabbling with the philosophies of Tasoism & Buddhism through my studies at Uni. I believe there can be great physical and mental benefits derived from meditation, but feel absolutely no need to attach myself to an organised group or congregation...still working through it. froglett

Frustration
by Chia init just blows my mind.
i am an adult, and i can't go out without getting the third degree.
i can't have a phone/internet conversation without being interrogated and/or watched.

Frog
Amen to that babe! I remember at 22y/o my eldest sister would expect to be able to contact me 24/7 to keep me in check. If I had my mobile off I would cop the 3rd degree the next time we spoke! I was one of those people too that so many felt they needed to keep in check, that initially was one of my main causes of frustration which caused me to leave the org and get my own life! These people are bored remember, you are a far more interesting subject to them, than they are to themselves. We should be flattered I guess?!? I guess they feel that they can sense that you must be in some sort of "danger", the closer you walk to the fine line the harder they'll try to pull you back into line, so I guess it will only get worse before it gets much better:-) frog
