Mary, are you sure he doesn't know that you've left da troof? Perhaps he does & wants to encourage you to return? Were you ever diss'd? I guess it depends on how good of friends you once were as to whether there's any chance he could overlook your now being out. If he's just been "appointed" and elder, I dare say he must be pretty hardcore. If I were you I'd be straight with him, tell him that you've left, and that you feel very confidient & strong about your decision, but that his friendship once meant allot to you and you would still love so see him, but that the balls in his court.
You'll make the right decision, in the end there's no wrong one's, but being upfront & maintaining your dignity is the most important thing:) frog x

Wicked idea nic:)...although if info isn't taken direct from the WT CD-rom & anyone can be a mod then the site might not have a great deal of credibility. But, it is still a great contribution to the www, and could potentially build up over time to have a loyal following:)...Remember to randomly re-post links to the site on JWD to remind peopel it's there. thanx for taking the initiative, frog x

i dont get the mags anymore, but im glad to be able to keep up with what's being said in the wt through your weekly comments on the wt study.. i would think it might get tiresome to wade through the bs in the articles week after week.
im sure it takes a lot of your time to research, then type your post.

Take your time with it BW, don't send it till it says all you need to say cause you probably won't get another chance. Sending off your DA letter can be a really empowering experience, might help you to draw a real line in the sand.

Arrogant JWs are more annoying than normal arrogant people!
by Jordan inthere's a guy, he's a regular at work, none of the staff like him, he's particularly arrogant, it just so happens that he's a dub, he thinks he's superior to everyone else, always has done, even though he's been removed from being an elder twice, is a known wife beater, one of his daugters is an unmarried mother, and his other son was reproved for mooning in a church yard recently.
he telephones the shop, we're rushed off our feet, it's leading up to christmas, i end up taking the phone call, and he, somehow, instantly knows it's me and says "jordan, you should pick up the phone quicker, i'm driving, you can't be that busy!
" that comment really pissed me off.

I can only speak of one in particular, and that's my uncle (once long-time elder). He's otherwise a good man, but he has the most painful arrogance about him when he feels he's being pushed into a corner. I believe it's probably been part of his persona since pre-"truth", but is exacerbated over years of believing that he has the "truth", and must ultimately be right. It drives me nuts, so I try to avoid controversial topics as best as I can with him. Natural arrogance+JW=SUPER ARROGANCE.

About a Funeral i went to...
by Dune inso i went to a funeral for a classmate that died recently.
she wasnt a witness, so the service was in a church.
it was crazy cause, i saw all these people i went to high school with and most of them were crying, even the "jocks".

Dune you're absolutely right of course about a serious lack of sincere love inside the congregations, and even sadly amongst many jw families. It is bloody hard work to re-build networks when you leave everyone you've ever known and loved behind. I'm pretty sure that most of us here will have had similiar dark thoughts about who would come to our funerals if we died today, and who would be truley sad to loose us. I know this is easier said than done, but I guess it's up to us to put good people back into our lives. We can cry forever for the injustice that has been done to us for having been robbed of family and life-time family friends, and we could almost be forgiven for that, but in the end its no way to live. To me it doesn't so much matter what age you are when you leave the org, you still have the rest of your life ahead of you. There are plenty of good and sincere people out there, who love us and admire us for our strength once they get to know us. x

WE JUST LOST OUR DEAR GOLDEN BOY
by juni inwe lost our loving golden retriever, coach, this week.
he has been very sick and we did everything we could for him, but our last show of love for him was to have him put to sleep.
he was only 6 1/2 yrs.
