Class Action Lawsuit in Wrongfull Death against the Governing Body
by frankiespeakin ini'm not very knowledgable about legal things but would there be any profitablity in a class action lawsuit in the wrongfull deaths caused by the governing body's enforcement of a "no blood transfusion allowed" policy which used the threat of disfellowshipment.
couldn't close family members sue and win?

It would be very difficult to prove evidentially that the GB caused the wrongful death because the clauses contained in the Medical Release are voluntary and because the claimant has died they wouldnt really be able to argue that they were forced into it when they have signed a voluntary release document like a living will. His or her estate would have to prove that he was coerced into signing the document under duress which to be honest i dont think would hold much water.
Of course there are some exceptions but the case would be an uphill battle not only because of the WTBTS stance of litigation (ie not settling) but because of the evidential difficulties too.
Brilliant idea but a long shot i fear.

Were the doors locked at your KH, during meetings?
by JH ini remember a time when the brothers locked the doors during a meeting.
if you arrived late, they had to come and unlock the door to let you in.
i also remember a time when they weren't locked.

Does the Governing Body Have Any Real Friends They Can Trust Now?
by frankiespeakin ini would think with all that the governing body is faced with that they must feel some form of isolation even at bethel.
they must worry all the time that soon thier little world will come crashing down especially with the brutal exposer the internet is providing.
i'm also sure that they wonder who will be the next to turn states evidence against them in some legal case they face now or in the furure.. with all the very clear information on the internet exposeing the governing body thate soon some higher up will get deprogramed that have been privy to some very damaging information perhaps from the accounting or the legal department that could send thier asses to jail.

I rather view the GB as like Caesar (was it Ceasar?) when his politicians assasinated him en mass by each stabbing him several times until he was dead.
The GB is exactly like that...as soon as the time comes those of any sense will do exactly the same and get their knives in deep. Let that day come soon...metaphorically speaking of course.

Bye-bye love
by wanderlustguy ini had to say goodbye to my s/o yesterday for the last time.
it has become more and more apparent to me that the reason we were together, at least for me, was that i sought out the same type fo restriction i had on my as i grew up and stayed in "the truth".
i posted about this before, but not like this.

Well friend it seemed that your problems were far deeper than religious differences....sounds like deep routed insecurities...and lack of trust...if these things cannot be resolved then it might well be that you have made the right decision.
Sorry your hurting...hope things improve for you

For those taken from us by the Witnesses . . .
by cruzanheart inwhether by death, shunning, or some other means: here is a candle in their memory.
though gone from us, you are not forgotten and you will be forever loved.. for my dad, who killed himself two years ago today:.

A side benefit to exiting the borg
by AK - Jeff inmy wife and i made the fade in the past year or so - a side benefit is now beginning to become apparent.
our adult daughter, who was somewhat estranged due to being df'd has come back into our lives.
[we never did completely shun her, as we never agreed fully with that, but it was always strained because we were under the guilt trip].

To the contrary, Jehovah's Christian Witnesses are a faith based on love. (John 13:34,35; 1 John 4:6-12)
Oh please....
Open your eyes...any religion that practices shunning for the reasons they do isnt showing love; throughout life we find friends some better than others...when a friend falls off the straight and narrow the answer isnt to distance yourself from them it is to support them and do your best to get them back on track and if they dont providing it isnt something totally abhorrent then you accept them as different and you respect their position.
Disfellowshipping is supposed to be for those who are unrepentant sinners against God....not the WTBTS... God and even so i know of a number of occasions where people have committed immorality (as the dubs call it) and genuinely been repentant....but still been shunned....wheres the love in that...again open your eyes friend.
