75 years is tremendous...and in all honesty I would agree that it would be daft to find anything negative in that story, it made my day.
I am puzzled as to why its been posted with the request not to be negative....that request in itself indicates that the poster automatically expects us to come out with a negative comment, that in itself is negative. Explain please?

Will the Society come up with new prophecy to cover the lack of growth now?
by AK - Jeff inwas following mary's thread on the wt study of the annual report - what a hoot!.
in follow-up; for years we have heard that the org's growth was 'proof' of the 'truth'.
do you think the org will come up with some obsure scriptural/prophetic understanding to explain the reduced zeal for the 'kingdom' now?

replaced Holy Spirit in the second baptizmal question since 1985. Perhaps there was a hostile takeover or something, and the FDS has assumed the role of Holy Spirit. That is why they can say that elders? are appointed by "Holy Spirit",
It was more than a hostile takeover...you think about the corporate raiders of the 80's....they all now work for the WTS, not a lot of people know that.....lol

Also lack of will for carrying the burden, lack of commitment, irresponsibleness, indolence and decline of moral standards. That kind of characteristic features for worldly have in some extent affected negatively in our activeness.

by diamondblue1974 ini was reading the thread about the prospect of the wts releasing some new light shite about a prophecy to fulfil the fact that they are not growing and it brought back a really horrid memory, unintentional i know but horrid nonetheless.. the co visited the congregation were i was from and after the obligatory song and prayer, it was announced that the co needed to speak to us urgently on a local needs issue.
he came onto the platform his look was sombre and melancholy (nothing new there then).
he said he had an announcement from the governing body and that their had been a law passed that day which banned jw's in the uk that the usa and other world governments had notified the wts that they were to follow suit shortly.

He said he had an announcement from the governing body and that their had been a law passed that day which banned JW'S in the UK that the USA and other world governments had notified the WTS that they were to follow suit shortly. Now I wouldnt say I was strong as a JW but this caused me some concern. Everywhere was deathly silent, you could have heard a pin drop, and even the obligatory baby in the toilet had stopped crying...we hung upon every word he said for that whole three minutes while it sank in what was possibly happening. (I must say i was wondering why it hadnt been on the news that day but listened nonetheless).
The thoughts about the big A now being round the corner or in the blink of an eye (as they put it) came to mind, the thoughts about whether we had been good enough, whether we had been good christians and so forth....then the bastard put the congregation out of its misery by saying that this wasnt really the case but it was to make us think.
Now I am sorry but this was f**kin sick, the sigh of relief was resounding throughout the hall and the congregation buzzed afterwards with how powerful his talk was....personally i felt like we had been mentally abused and played like a group of fools; that became for me the part of the start of the end....but has anyone else had similar experiences?

They will probably say that Jehovahs work is nearly done and that they should work ever harder to
bring in those who are interestedsell more books and hopefully bring about the end to this system quicker....the sad thing is...people will believe it. -

I think he probably is proud that he has a wife with a brain, any real bloke should be...although I would lay a bet on the fact that this isnt admitted when hes at the Kingdom Hall where he's being taught that his wife should be subservient...I wish you luck in rescuing him.

My experience has been similar to Crumpets actually although we dont argue about it at all; in fact we dont argue...(I do as I am told NOT) but she does actually wonder why I didnt see the WTS for what it was earlier.
This has to be common with people who have never experienced what we have; what needs to be explained is that breaking away from something that had so much control over your life is extremely difficult and that whilst you are inside of it, it is hard to see the wood for the trees as such.
I am blessed with a partner who tries to understand and will always take the time to listen without judgement or prejudice...wouldnt be with her if she was any different.
