How do you know when you've found your calling?
by love11 inwhen i first left the jw's i didn't know what i wanted or who i was.
i've went through about 100 different career options that i liked.
i think that i've finally narrowed it down (for the millionth time) to pick this one career field- psychology.

You must go with what you are interested in before anything else...thats the key; i have been where you are now although much younger...make your decision and stick to it...even if you dont pursue a career in what you studied you will be much more employable given you had seen a project through to completion academically and acquired the academic skills needed in todays world.

Call me cynical but its a publicity stunt if you ask me...
Its like the criminal who is due for parole who suddenly finds Jesus.....yeah right!!!
In fact putting it bluntly its quite ironic thats he back at the meetings given the WTS problems with paedophilia...perhaps now they have busted his ranch and playground hes searching for new venues.

JW Mother Mourns Pope's Death
by homme perdu ini was surprised to discover how my mother felt about the passing of the pope.
she mentioned even though he is different (regarding religion) he is still human and death is always something painful.
i overheard her discussion with my grandfather and she said he did good things and jehovah can grant him resurrection.

No Sorry that is wrong- They believe if you heard the truth ( their truth) you dont get another chance
Thanks to everyone for their comments regarding the question i asked....things are a little faded given ive been out for such a long while...
Back on topic...
Its right to be sad about the popes death if you are that way inclined...I dont know him personally or have that much knowledge about his life but apparently he did some good and was an inspirational leader. He will be missed by his followers no doubt.

I am an official apostate.....nearly.. and I'm loving it!!!!!!
by Gill intoday, whilst shopping, i ran into an old school friend of mine that i had been quite close to.
i used to write her 'sick' notes for her, so as you can imagine, we're friends forever now.. anyway, she tells me that she is studying with jehovah's witnesses again.
i think she expected me to be thrilled with this news.

Bible Reading Leading to More Doubt Than Faith... :(
by jeanniebeanz inok, it?s taken me longer to get my thoughts together on this than i expected, but here is the reason that i have come to have doubts in the divine nature of the bible; its failure to show that the god it describes is abiding by "his" own standards.. for example, according to 2 peter 1:20, the entire bible is inspired of god.
the main attributes of "god" are that "he" is love (1 john 4:8), "he" is just (deuteronomy 32:4), and "he" has all of the power (revelation 7:12).. with that in mind, my first problem with the bibles authenticity is that this ?loving god?
murdered the entire world of men at one point in history by drowning them.

I always bear in mind that it was written by imperfect men for an ancient culture
Spot on...how the WTS can say it provides modern day solutions to everyday problems is beyond me...even at its most simplistic levels its supposed solutions are totally impractical, sexist and downright illogical.
Good point, great thread.

i thought this site suppose to be kind to one another!
by sad and lonely ini just recently join this site because i was looking for a friendly place for witnesses to go and chat.it's ok!..but i seen a lot of witness bashing.there's another site i want to get into, that's also a site for the witnesses.but i don't know what po means.and that's the only way a true witness can get in.i think maybe there is where i want to be.because i don't need to be in a site for witnesses, where its suppose to be friendly.yet witness haters are coming in.i haven't heard any witness bashing anyone in this site..but yet its the other way around.

Slightly off topic here but I thought the JW stance was that everyone will be ressurected who have died irrespective as to their beliefs; some to a ressurection of life and some to a ressurection of judgement. Cant remember too much to be honest but the general consensus was that everyone who dies before the big A will get another chance!
Am I right here or not??!!

Being Marked
by TheOneBuck inpardon my igorrance to this but i do not recall ever hearig a talk markig someone.
i have been publicly reproved before but is this the same thing.
when they mark an individual do they mention their name, or is a talk of generalities and people can point out who they are talking about.

I agree totally Jez.
On one hand they suggest that you should stay away from gossip but on the other they are encouraging it; seems to me like double standards. You can gossip but only when we tell you can and only about the topics we tell you can gossip about
