Apparantly not a very interesting topic.
Maybe I should rename it, Governing Body admits, "This is all bs, the truth is, Russell just did alot of acid"
so what is the jw version of the events that will take place in "the last days".
here is how i understand the jw version of things.. 1. beginning of last days.
christ returns (1874, then 1914) (we are still here right?).

i was never a dub.
i was just curious what you all thought when you read those two verses in light of the claims that christ returned in 1874, and then in 1914, as well as the predictions of 1914, 1925, and 1975?
yeah, yea, i know.
So how do you think a hardcore dub would react, if I put those verses to them directly in the context of a study?
What sort of response could I expect?

Yeah, yea, I know. The light will grow brighter. But that was for the righteous? These verses are talking about "false Christs", "false prophets", not the righteous. Matthew 24:23-26
23 "Then if anyone says to YOU, ‘Look! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. 25 Look! I have forewarned YOU. 26 Therefore, if people say to YOU, ‘Look! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; ‘Look! He is in the inner chambers,’ do not believe it
Luke 21:8
8 He said: "Look out that YOU are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time has approached.’ Do not go after them.

1. Beginning of last days. Christ Returns (1874, then 1914) (We are still here right?)
2. The Great Tribulation
3. War of Armageddon, Satan imprisoned
4. Beginning of Millenium of Christ's rule, and resurrection of dead.
5. End of Millenium, Satan
6. Final temptaion, and judgement.
7. Satan Killed, and everyone who doesn't accept God's rule.
8. Nothing but having picnics, drinking ice tea, and petting lions with all the other jws from here on out.
Help me out. Am I missing something? Do I have the order of events correct?
the wts started getting everyone ready to ditch generation teaching by .
1: putting in the greatest man book where christ talksof the sign (you know there was a picture of a space sattellite) - so armageddon will come in the lifetime of those who see the fulfilment of all he predicted.
damn!

this week i had the priviledge of getting together with some ex-jw's on 2 different occasions.
during the week a friend that i know from email and an ex-jw support email group came to my area for a work conference.
it was so great to finally meet her and talk.
Ditto MJ.
Count your blessings. At least he will consider negative aspects of the org.
He probably has a lot of fears keeping him in place. Do you know what those might be? Have you addressed those?
Along with the ones MJ suggested, I would recommend the WOrld Wide Church of God denominations. They are JW clones. Go to www.thercg.org. These guys even beleive in abstaining from blood transfusions as "an administrative matter".
I think it is good for dubs to see just how many groups teach the exact same doctrines, and use the Bible in the exact same ways. The doctrine is a big part of their "claim" of divine appointment.
Also there are books on freeminds.org to help refute some of the jw teachings.
Sorry if this is stuff you already know.
a few of you may remember when i came to this site back in sept. i was seeking advice about my bf who had been studying with jw.
well i hate to say it but they won.
after being together almost 2yrs we broke up.
The pain I feel is horrible and I can't help but feel this is all my fault. When he first began studying I left it alone as no big deal. Now I kick myself in the but for doing it.
Boy do I know that feeling.
so last weekend was my last district convention.
i plan on breaking the news to my wife real soon.
nowadays even at the meetings my blood pressure raises and my back gets all tense as i sit and listen to some of the stuff we are supposed to believe.
Hey I think.
So you are going to tell your wife? Are you going to try to help her leave first? Just curious. Once you are an apostate, she won't talk about it. Right?

i have been doing some more research and thinking about the topic of salvation.
what got me working on this, is that i have been conducting a bible study, with my family.
i decided a good topic would be the overall theme of the bible.
I was wondering when you would chime in, Little Toe.

Of course I don't mind you commenting Narkissos. I always appreciate your comments. I was just trying to limit the, "there is no jahoba so who cares" from cluttering up the thread.
Actually I do have a simple, "lets read the Bible" type study with the fam.
The reason why the "overall theme" of the Bible came up, is because my wife was freaking out. They went through the "Keep on the Watch" brochure, which is apparantly a big, scary "It won't happen in 1914, 1925, 1975, or necessarily during this generation, but the apockeeclips could happen ANY DAY!!! Are you ready!!!??? Is your family!!!??? Better go to more meetings!!!"
So I decided to address those concerns respectfully by covering the overall theme of the Bible, and our next discussion will be on salvation.
Thanks for your thoughts.
