what was the reaction to princess Di's death in your cong?
by highdose ini know it was over ten years but it occured today that it was the first time i was shocked by the reaction of the the dubs.
the general opinion seemed to be that yes it was "sad" ... but actauly it was very good news that she had been killed now, because that meant that she would get a resserection!
and of course seeing that she had led such an immoral life, she would never have survived armargeddon had she lived!.

A friend in England said they were actually advised not to go in service either on the day of the death or the funeral.

Do dubs intentionally mess up other people's holidays/birthdays?
by rebel8 inmine does.
goes way out of her way to stir up trouble, conflict, and manipulate the former and non-dub relatives into not having a nice holiday.
goes to extremes to do so, and is at it again, right on cue..

When I was a kid my family usually did a disappearing act around the holidays.
Yeah, I do that too. Figure I've put in enough time and appearances to take Thanksgiving off. I've heard of some halls rescheduling meetings to give the folks a much deserved night to themselves. Never experienced it myself though. Good for them. I'm sure if this gets kicked upstairs there will be a cease and desist letter coming down soon.

How Many Here Were Turned Down For "Privileges" Because You Weren't "Exemplary"?
by minimus inour odd body of elders would not allow the one person who wanted to mow the lawn at the kingdom hall to do this because he was not getting 10 hours in a month, he was only getting in 7. seriously.. were you ever told you couldn't have a "privilege" because you didn't measure up to their lofty standards?.

I was not allowed to carry the mikes because I was attending college...living at home, making the meetings and service, but attending nonetheless. Stupidly, I succumbed to the pressure from a pioneer at the time to quit school and pioneer. I quit college and told one of the elders. He smiled and said I would be "truly blessed" for my decision. Next meeting I was carrying mikes.

I've been spiteful also against some others that I know have done wrong (according to the society's rules) yet hypocritically put on a facade of spirituality in the congregation. Especially when their conduct has been personally injurious to me and caused me pain. I go back and forth whether to turn them in just to make them squirm and feel the heat. At this point I'm thinking I won't do that, like it was said above, karma's a bitch and they have to live with themselves the rest of their lives.

did you go on the ministry in bad weather?
by highdose ini can remember being in the freezing snow and so cold my fingers were numb, i desparatly wanted someone to invite me in, just to warm up even, but no one did.. i got soaked on countless occasions having been dropped off in some remote corner of the territory, trying to find shelter in a thunderstorm.. i got burnt to a crisp in just half an hour in a uk heatwave, of course no one was at home... they were all far more sensible and had gone to the beach!.

To be fair, it depended on who you were grouped with. Some were super cool and would just drive around, go to breakfast and get coffee. Others were Nazi's that apparently felt we should adopt the post office's motto.
These days, if its pouring rain or ridiculously cold to the point of possible physical detriment, I stay home.
On a related note, does anyone remember that Awake or WT picture a few years ago that showed a family in the door to door carrying umbrellas in the rain?

Welcome Aggie.
There are so many parallels between our life stories that it's almost scary!
