I have always wondered what the pot smoking rules are of JW's living in Amsterdam. If its legal, could you get disfellowshipped for doing it? Also curious about here in the United States, if you legally got medical mary jane, could you smoke it ?

perhaps i would.. struggeling with doubts of course, but going to the meetings and turning in 2 or 3 hours on my report every month like i used to.... what about you guys?
Like other have said, the internet really opened my eyes to how crazy witness beliefs are. Up till I found out about 607, the U.N and false predections I even defended the BORG when others talked about them. Once I found out all that's out there, I realized that I was in a cult and the freedom from being out is just AWESOME!

The old proverb goes, that anger is like a hot coal that you want to throw at someone. Only thing is that you are the one holding it and getting burnt. Or as the wise Yoda once said Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering.
Many of us still hold on to our anger towards the Society and those still members. Only when we replace anger with compassion and love can we truly be free. Just my 2 cents.

this, as hear-say, has been my understanding that the catholic church at some point in the early centuries disguised st.mary as being an adulterous woman... only to have her sins' reproved from the salvation of the world by y'shua, meshiach.
it's been said that the particular scriptures, in regards to her surfacing as almost bein' stoned to death, about mary magdelene were actually put into the scriptures by the catholic church themselves.... mary magdelene... adulterous woman, saved sinner?

I spent a good deal of time discussing her in my World Religion class. Most historians and scholars believe that she was not only an apostle, but one of Jesus closest associates. When Paul became more influence, his writings promoted that Mary Mag, was not an apostle but a prostitute whom Jesus felt sorry for and forgave of her sins. Paul was an admitted self-loather, a self mutilator whose teachings put women in a subservient role and was kicked out of the early church twice because they thought he was a Roman spy. This teaching was not promoted by Jesus, who viewed everyone as equals.

i wasnt the most academic of children although i had some capability but i could read quite well by the time i was 4 years old at least for my age; i have always read as a child and still read now as an adult both professionally (research) and for pleasure.
i have always been able to write too...and pretty much advanced as well as my peers did in school...perhaps i am lucky, i certainly feel like i am when illiteracy amongst adults and children is rife at present...however.. i remember when i was 16 the wts in the uk were pushing through a scheme teaching those who were not as able to read and write...and an elder in the hall made a point of coming to me and suggesting that i should actually attend the training!!
!....i explained that i could read and write well enough and didnt need to be taught basic literacy... he said that i might learn something new and should respect jehovahs order of things and show appreciation...i did decline his kind offer rather abruptly....but wtf??
When I was first dating my ex wife I meet with an elder whom I had a close relationship with. I told him I was going to start dating her and that we would follow the society?s rules. He said that it was fine if my intent was to marry her and not just dating for the sake of dating. 3 months later I get hauled into an elders meeting with the same elder and 2 other elders. It seems that my dating an older woman that already had a child was poisoning the hall. (I was 17 she was 20 with a 1 year old son.) The elders said I had to stop dating her or lose my privileges. According to the elders people in the hall had a problem with me dating her and I was stumbling others. I went nuts and started screaming at the elder who originally said it would be ok for us to date. The elders reply was that they didn?t think it would be an issue at the begining but now it was so we had to end it. Well instead of breaking up with her, I went out and got engaged three months after I turned 18 we got married. Funny thing is that the elder that told me to date her, then not to, ended up marrying us at the kingdom hall.
Well as you can imagine the marriage didn?t turn out to well and after 4 rough years we got divorced. Almost every one of my friends went thought the same situation. We all dated each other and ended up married in our late teens early 20's.
i know many have rejected the idea of organized religion.
i teeter on that myself.
but i have toyed with hooking to a little country church with some friendly people to associate with.
I have found myself drifting towards Buddhism. It's a wonderful way to live yourself without the relying on a "church" to tell me how to live my live. Zen Buddhism has helped me calm my inner voice and become at peace with myself. Most importantly it opened my eyes to see how closed off my life was while I was in the borg. Anyone who hasnt tried mediation should give it a shot itsgreat.
