something i?ve wanted to ask you all for a while.

had you 100% denounced jw doctrine to yourself at the time of your leaving the org?

i know many have said that specific issues prompted them to leave i.e., wt membership in the un, silent lambs/child molestation policy, malawi political party card issues, inconsistent changes in doctrine i.e., 1975/1914 generation not passing?new light begets old light begets new light etc.

An interesting read - having only just (about a year) left the routine meetings and rounds of talks I suppose life is good so it can only get better. I feel duped - always thinking one day I'll see loved ones resurrected, i'll be able to learn skills in the 'new system' that would perhaps take years in this -all the flaws I have will somehow be rectified when I'm perfect. Dream on!!! We would all love to be in a world like that but unfortunately we are dreaming - those are the hard parts for me. I still believe in the Bible but as to promises - I don't know. As time goes by - spiritually speaking - my trust may return in a loving God.

Living life and filling it with meaningful activities and love of family will eventually rid us of the demons and indoctrination of the WT. Thinking of you - your adopted mum alw x

i wasnt brought up in the org. like most of you, i was conned when i was 29, i remained there for 22 years. just this year i havent been to meetings and am fading as quietly as possible at the moment.

for the first 9 months i had feelings of i wonder if im wgong their right, only this last 2 or 3 months i feel the indoctrination has loosened its grip. i believe im moving on fast now, not as much guilt etc.

i put this down to reading c.o.c. ray franz, and steven hassans releasing the bonds, and of course being able to view and participate on this site.

a point to consider too is i was an adult when i joined, you and others were like my children, "brought up in the truth" maybe it takes longer for people who were younger and grew up knowing no different. adults like myself were older ,and maybe not as impressionable.just a thought.

just 2 months ago i said there was no way i would celebrate b.days, xmas etc. now i dont care, so i think im on the road to recovery already, i hope your road goes as fast.

my wife and i are new here too and i have to tell you it has helped us heaps to be able to read others posts who are in a similiar situation to us.

i can see already that you have heard from ones in the same situation as you are.listen to these and decide yourself what to do and i hope it all goes well with your mum.

Move on...

as i was taking my shower this morning i was musing about certain posts i had read the day before.

the one about the tampons just tickled me to no end.

crazy stuff people will do to enforce whatever crazy ideas they have about human sexuality.

just thought of another occasion, confession time for me, please dont be too hard on me.

when i was a m.s. an elder took me under his wing so to speak and was teaching me the meaning of the ministry.each sat after f.s. we would do "sheperding calls". each week we would think of a witness that we thought we could help spiritually speaking, so this week we visited a certain older sis,who had a reputation for the drama queens so to speak.for about an hour we heard of all her pains,aches and creaks.she just went on and on,and on.

when we left we discussed her ailments and decided she was putting it on a bit.

3 weeks later she died of a heart attack, i felt so sick that i didnt take her seriously,i was upset for a long time.we did advise her to go to doctors etc which she did but they never found it. i had a lot of love for that old sis, and i still think about my bad attitude not taking her serious,so anyone who says to just move on, i agree with mrsjones5 they are the ones to move on.

mrsjones5,i too like you think that some of these MOVEONERS, need to stop and think more seriously before making sweeping statements like move on.

ive noticed this site has a few of these.someone posts a traumatic experience, (at least in their mind)and someone else posts,something like "forget it move on".

this reminds me of a situation in a cong i was attending some years ago. a sister was having trouble attending meetings,she had young children to look after, and when she did attend a meeting,she was often seen at the rear of hall crying her eyes out.

enter the loving shepherd with words of wisdom,empathy,and oozing with love. he said to her you need to get to meetings regularly, get out on field service regularly,study more, and even better still,pioneer!stop moping about and get on!

the sister about a week later attempted suicide,fortunately, she was saved.we all found out later she had been depressed for a long time and was having problems with her marriage.

my point is most of us are not quallified to give advice and sometimes opinions on serious subjects,we may however offer our help but i think it unwise to tell anyone who is going through a traumatic experience to "move on".

this information is taken from thesis by peter strawhan, 1984, re jws in australia in ww2.

rees was head of jws in australia, who were banned 1941-43.

jws contributed 10,000 to war bonds from cash accumulated during ban, reported to knorr july 1943. rees: ?of course the fact that we took out the bonds has not been publicized, but we have seen to it that the government officials such as security, army, manpower, etc, know of it.

it has to be the NET, it is so powerful.

without the net and sites like this one i would still be having guilt feelings about fading, however learning the real truth about the truth i am now feeling like a normal human being again.

jws are told repeatedly not to spend time on the net on such sites as this, yet .... how many jws comment on here??? not to mention the ones who just browse the site!

curiosity killed the cat! curiosity helped me to see how i had been fooled by the org.

after 22 years i still find myself humming or whistling the funeral, sorry the kingdom songs.my wife used to say to me when we were still in, "do you know what you are humming?" and it would be a xmas tune or happy birthday tune, now its "do you know what you are humming?" and it will be a k.tune. what a reversal.lol.

no.13 i still cant shake saying the truth, but i will take blondies tip and in future ill say the lie.

no. 14 brother and sister, i suppose time will help.

firt of all, a bit of background.

i'm 26 years old, am a math major/english minor senior on a full scholarhip in college, was raised as one of jehovah's witnesses, babtized when i was 18, left at ~ 22/23, am now agnostic/deist/confused.

i was raised on a farm in a witness family.

It was a heartwrenching story but very well written and thought out - I believe you have the guts to go along in life and enjoy - something a lot of us have difficulty with - the future holds a lot for us and life is precious. I am so glad you have come to the board - I'm sure (although you have found a few negative comments) you will get lots of encouragement and positive feedback - continue posting - look forward to your many posts.
