I knew a couple once that moved to serve where the need was greater. They thought Jehovah had answered their prayer and led them to the new assignment. Only problem was they came back a few months later broke and homeless, when "it didn't work out" seek2find

I think I may have accidentily pitted the POs wife against her husband...
by cognac inwell, you know how the whole thing came out about only using the "society's literature" came out a few months ago?
well, a few days later i went up to the po to basically tell on myself that i used strongs concordance and exactly which website i go to for a lot of my research.
he said that was fine and that the society was just avoiding people spending hours on non wt literature just either wasting there time or trying to prove the society wrong.... ok, so fast forward to this past weekend, i was over his house with my husband for dinner.

Dear Cognac, You may know this already, but the E-Sword computer program, which is a free download comes with the King James bible keyed to the strongs concordance. All you have to do is hover the mouse over the strong s number and the definition pops up. It's a very useful tool. The address is www.e-sword.net seek2find

SO proud... Wife brought COC as reading material on a road trip...
by Robert7 inwe had a little family roadtrip last weekend, and my wife brought coc to read in the car!
she read quite a bit of it... .
what was great is she really sees it as not the truth.

I'm so glad your wife read the book. My wife destroyed my copy. Burning it piece by piece in the barbecue grill. Among the things that got me in the book was the revelation that the work in Mexico was being restricted for years not due to government persecution as I had been led to believe. But it was really that the organization had voluntarily registered as a cultural organization. They could have had full freedom all along if they had registered as a religion and put property ownership aside. It seems to be the same type of mentality that led to joining the UN as an NGO. seek2find

The Slave is sooo concerned about Great Crowd
by senora inso yesterday i bump into a jw i knew since i was a little girl.
so she says to me... at our last local needs the brother said that the faithful slave is soooo worried about the great crowd... so i was like why?
and she says.... because the great crowd is so diisobedient, they just don't listen and the great tribulation is upon us and they are worried about how the gc is going to make it if they are so disobedient.. i felt like screaming.. did they ever think for a second that the gc is sick and tired of them making all of these crazy demands on people's lives who are adults and but yet not allowed to make decisions for themselves or think for themselves?

Personally I think we need to have new light on the Faithful Slave Teaching, and that the Slave mentioned at Matt. 24 is the same one that Jesus mentions at Luke chapter 12 on Luke goes into a little more detail and breaks the slave down into individual slaves some who get many strokes and others that get few. Luke's account make it clear that the slave spoken about are individual Christians and not a class.(see Luke 12:42-48 especially verses 47 and 48) seek2find

Would the Governing Body ever suggest ...
by sacolton inthat active spouses should leave their "non-believing" or "apostate" spouse?.
the reason i ask is that when i asked my wife if she would follow this doctrine should it ever be activated.

Hi I believe, as Blondie has pointed out, they already have. It's not a direct command, but is allowed as grounds for separation. I also may be faced with this issue in the future. I believe the elders encourage the mate to leave once they share their "apostate" views. That should be a red flag to all concerned that something is wrong. The real truth should never be afraid of the lie! If apostates are all about lies, why fear them? If you have the truth. As we all know though, the real lie is that the Organization has never had the "truth". If they did, they wouldn't be afraid of the internet and the information available there. They would have been up front about the UN issue and the child abuse scandal. We're expected to admit our mistakes while we allow them to attempt to cover theirs. It's the ultimate hypocrisy. seek2find

That's sad Renee, it makes me think about Ray Franz's analogy of the "Iron fist beneath the velvet glove". I wonder if he'd be willing to tell a bible study or return visit how he treats you? They (The JWs) look so nice and warm and friendly on the surface. But after Baptism a different side shows, the cold unmovable steel beneath the surface, is cruel cold and hard. Paul told Timothy about people having no "natural affection" the witnesses use it to describe the "world" but as you have shown here, it sometimes describes them also. seek2find

606 BCE vs 607 BCE
by seek2find incan someone point me to a post or a site that discusses the switch between 606 to 607 as the date for the destruction of jereuselam.
i was reading in the 1921 book the harp of god, and noticed that as of the date of that publication 606 was still being used.
i'd like to know exactly when the change occurred and what the explanation was.

Jehovah's Witnesses Are NOT Conscientious & They Don't Really Care!
by minimus inwitnesses try to make it sound as though they are very very conscientious people.
they care about you, your spiritual welfare, your everlasting welfare....but nothing could be further from the truth!
if they truly cared, they would see to it that they reached people to give them the lifesaving truth.

What amazes me is how much emphasis is put on "going out in service", but how much time is actually spent at McDonald's or the local donut shop, or running personal errands, or driving 5 miles to that call that's always not at home. But at the end of the day they feel happy and satisfied that they "went out in service today" and attempt to make others feel bad because they didn't. How many of the reported hours are spent in unproductive activity? seek2find
