Some scriptures about the Deity of Christ did it for me such as Isaiah 9:6 Titus 2:13 and a few others, but it took a while for the accumulation of other things also. Then the UN thing and the child abuse cover ups and the lack of love I was seeing. Seeing the town of Greensburg Kansas being wiped off the map and very little if anything being done to help the victims by the organization(because there wasn't many witnesses affected). We had been to a circut assembly in Pratt Kansas that weekend and had just driven through Greensburg that afternoon The day the Tornado struck. We had no idea we would never see it the same way again. After the storm almost every other church in my town did something to help the victims. We did nothing. I would have much rather some of our donated funds have gone to helping the victims rather than paying to settle the child abuse suits. That's it folks! That was the final straw. seek2find

What Gilead Taught ME
by AllTimeJeff inthey mean the leadership.
all of this is code for: one who is not ready to really study and accept how the leadership of jehovah's witnesses use the bible to their own self serving means.
but to be fair, jw's teach that most all of these characters refer to the leadership of jehovah's witnesses, the governing body.

I appreciate what you have said. And I agree with you, that being a "mature" witness really means swallowing whatever comes from the leadership without questioning. I really like what you said about "Christ brothers" only being them. I seems so obvious to me now, that Jesus words in Matt. 25 seem to be talking about just average sincere people including children (like the poor and starving ones in Africa). Why else would he have used the term "The least of these my brothers" Anyway good post and hope to read more of your experiences. seek2find

How long before You tube is banned?
by seek2find inhow long before the society bans members from you tube?
like they did myspace.
it's true they didn't outright ban it, but they heavily implied it was bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's tackled more indirectly rather than directly. Remember how the Sept 07 KM took on the subject on independent Bible study? I expect the same here. It would be an indirect subtlety worded message that didn't come out and condemn you-tube directly. Maybe in an article like "How do you spend your time?" In which the "dangers" of "spending excessive amounts of time" online and engaging in "creating videos" would be mentioned. Might even be incorporated in a meeting part or an assembly demonstration. I feel that all such efforts will be futile because the first place doubters are going to go for answers will be the internet. The Watchtower, as we no it, its days are numbered. seek2find

The videos posted in the last couple of days got me to thinking it might be soon. Like the video of the guy named Brian in Connecticut who disassociated after some time being a JW apologist. And the one yesterday by the Band in New Orleans that did the music video about life in Paradise Earth. Even the positive videos I'm sure the Society frowns on. Remember the music disk that was being distributed a few years back that contained Kingdom songs preformed by modern artist and then an article came out in the KM that said the organization "did not approve" of them. They don't want the witnesses getting any spiritual encouragement or motivation anywhere except from them. They want complete control. Just like Warren Jeffs and Jim Jones seek2find

How long before the Society Bans members from you tube? Like they did myspace. It's true they didn't outright ban it, but they heavily implied it was bad. I see the same coming about you tube. To much "dangerous" information there. Sorry if this has already been discussed. If so I must have missed it. seek2find

I agree with what Minimus said earlier in this thread. If I were you, I'd write her back and tell her how glad I am to see that she's at least was open minded enough to read some of your material. I think I would ask her some thought provoking questions, to see if I could stimulate her thinking a little more. Maybe something like: "In the Bible the Person who became the Apostle Paul was very dedicated to the Organization of his time. So much so that he even engaged in much hatred and violence defending it. But did that make him right?(see Acts 8:1-3 and Phil 3:6)" I think I would keep it upbeat, and not be critical of her. Dale Carnagie said in his book "How to win friends and influence people" that criticizing never works because it just puts the person on the defensive. I believe he was correct. The reactions of many here who read her comments seem to confirm his statement. "Criticisms are like homing pigeons, they always return" In contrast, Love for others seeks a different course. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." 1 Cor 13:4,5 (NIV) seek2find

announcement at service meeting last night
by isaacaustin inlast nite at my parents service meeting an announcement was made regarding the new triple meeting.
they said that no one can go over their allotted time at all during the tms.
if the bell rings you are to stop immediately- not even finishing your sentence.

It's funny they get so worked up about someone going over on their talks, when some people who give the closing prayer think they have to summarize the whole meeting in their prayer. I know some people who gave prayers that were as long as talks. Probably like the Pharisees did in Jesus day. seek2find

For those who are Christian here. I have the following to say. Wouldn't it be great if the ones we love would Give Christ as much attention everyday in their every day life as they give the CO when he visits? Thinking back over the years I was a witness, I never remember any witness ever talking about their relationship with Christ or about how they benefited from a daily Bible reading and quite time. Everything always revolved around the organization and it's activities and representatives. They were always glad to point out how good the daily text was, but not that quick to talk about their personal reading of Gods word itself. Based on the ones I was acquainted with I'd say less than half even did daily reading of the Bible even if they were elders and servants. The organization officially says it believes Jesus words at John 14:6 Where Jesus says he is "the way and the truth..." but then turns around and says they are the truth. Which way is it? Just something on my mind today, seek2find

Should "Kool aid man06" apologize to every Christian who listened?

I personally don't feel the need for an apology. I also don't expect an apology from Simon for allowing a wide range of viewpoints here on JWD (Thanks Simon!) With regard to Rick. My only hope is that he would re-evaluate where he is going with his efforts and Ministry. Maybe he can find some constructive ways to introduce a more positive message, and promote true Christian beliefs. In other words, Perhaps talking a little less about what's wrong with the Organization (we all know about that) and talking about and promoting what is a much better alternative. Peculiar NWT rendering: System of Things
by Athanasius inthis morning at church i read the new testament lesson, which was ephesians 1:15-23, from the new revised standard version bible.
verse 20-21 says:.
"god put this power to work in christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, (21) far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come.".

A favorite of mine is Heb. 11:13 the NWT uses the word "land" and all the other translations I've compared use the term earth. But the process is reversed at Psalms 37:29 seek2find
