Hi again, Maybe the problem is, (or was) that the organization put to much emphasis on sex and all the do's and don'ts and made it something mechanical, rather that a natural and pleasurable act. It seems that they were obsessed with it. I've heard that when groups are obsessive about it, it is an indication of some level of sexual disfunction on the part of the leadership. I believe that may be true. seek2find

The "Marital Due"
by Lady Lee ini wasn't sure whether to put this in scandals or beliefs and practices.
it could easily go in either.. this topic has been discussed plenty of times.
it seems to me that this is a much bigger problem in the jws than most people realize.

Lady Lee, Your comment on this subject make me think of a lot of couples I knew while I was a witness. A lot of them had been maried many years and many people thought that they had good mariages. Behind the sceens tho it was a mere facade. I remember hearing one older lady quoted as saying she "couldn't wait till the old Bastard died". I think the root of the problem was that the Organization encouraged this type of thinking. They tried to make rules that the Bible didn't contain that discouraged couples from experiminting with lovemaking techniches that could have enhanced the womans pleasure. The focus was always put on just the mans. I knew of several cases when a Husband would have an afair and it seemed that the wife got the blame because she wasn't "giving her due". When in reality the husband was just a skirt chaser looking for an excuse. seek2find

Their totaltalitarian way of yeilding authority may lead to their fall. Such has happened before in govermental regiems such as in Romania in 1989. Or even like the fall of Solomons rullership in Bible times. In any case I feel the clock is ticking. It's just a matter of time. seek2find

You can see how they look at Jw.org. and clicking on the study edditions. The public and study editions are completely different magazines. The study copy has 4 or 5 study articles and a few filler articles. The public one has more articles targeting regular people. The articles do seem to be getting worse as far as writing quality, but maybe it's just me and my "critical attitude" seek2find

The name Jehovah and the April Study edition of the Watchtower
by seek2find inin the 1st study article of the april watchtower, a statement is made about some apostates opposing the use of the name jehovah.
i would like to seriously ask this question to lurkers and active witnesses.
why is it that in the new world translation the name jehovah apears in the greek scriptures (aka new testament) only 237 times and yet in the watchtower magazine between the years of 2000 to 2006 the name jehovah appears an average of about 3000 times per year?

This apostate (ME) would like this question answered. Listen up people at Bethel if you are listening. Why, if the name Jehovah is so important did the apostle Paul not use it even one time in his letter to the Phillipians as printed in the NWT? If an elder or some good witness today wrote a spititualy encouraging letter even a 3rd the length of Phillipians and didn't use the name Jehovah at least once, he would be viewed as wierd at least, and maybe even apostate. In all, seven of the Apostalic letters in the NWT do not contain the name Jehovah. Why? And also as mentioned, why did Jesus never use the name in any of his prayers including the model prayer? seek2find

Are apostates really opposed to using the name or is the Organization obsessed with it? And the more important question is, is the organization more focused on the Old testament God and his name than on Jesus Christ which is where Christians should be putting their focus? Paul said at Phil. 2:9 that Jesus had been given the "name above every name" So why is it that in the same years of 2000 to 2006 we only find the name of Jesus used in the watchtower about 1500 times per year on average? seek2find
