i'm curious, when you made your decision to leave the org.
did you do it before or after looking at this kind of internet sites?.
in my case i made my decision without ever looking any of this websites.
I left along time ago and just recently joined this site in 2005.
i casually mentioned to my jw friend yesterday that the local paper carried the ap article on jws.
he asked what it was about.
i just said "something about the changes in the blood policy over the years.
...and then sometimes, all it takes is that one little seed! If he comes to you about your links then you know, it worked!
someone give me the words.. .
my brother's wife recently had a baby.
she was df'd shortly before their marriage but is attending meetings.
The court ordered that as long as my parents shun me, they are to have no contact with my children through my ex...all JW's. This is regularly violated and I can't afford to go back to court to continually regulate this.
My ex-husband broke a court order 1 time and that was the last time. This may sound stupid....but I carried my court papers with me at alll times. (I live out of state from my ex, I couldn't take any chances)
He refused to give me my child....I called the police and showed them my papers. I explained that he is one of Jehovah Witness's and he is breaking the law. They immediately went to his house and they talked to him about returning the child to Ms _____ . If not then I would be able to file a complaint and call my lawyer the next day.
About hour later, I received a call from the police that Mr. JackA$$ is returning my daughter. Problem solved!
my wife and i have been married for over 10 years and we have three sons.
she grew up in a jw family.
he sisters, brother, mother, aunts, uncles and other extended family are mostly jw.
He sisters, brother, mother, aunts, uncles and other extended family are mostly JW. ........ She was the only one in her family that was not formally baptised as she rebelled against the religion when she was growing up.
Welcome! Since your wife was never baptised, I can't imagine that her family would have shunned her. ?? But there are people on here who 'stay in the religion' to avoid being disfellowshiped and have a relationship with their JW family members. That is the only thing that I could think of that she would want to go back.
But you certainly came to the right place and I'm sure that others will give you better suggestions.
Good luck to you and your family!

i have always wondered how seriously they took this dispensing doctrine thing.
do they all get together and actually pray or just have meetings?
ex- bethelites say they wrote doctrinal articles for the watchtower or awake.
Trojan,
You compared Bethel to the movie 'Island'. I watched that movie and the ones in control told the people how they should act, what they needed to eat, what to where...that was a good comparison.
So tell me, you're like the charactor Lincoln who starts to question the ones in control and the compound where they live? I won't mention anymore about the movie or the ending...in case there are ones who want to see it. But that was Awsome.

because of their shunning policy how many family members or good friends did the watchtower take away from you?.
in my case, i'd say 4 good friends were lost because of the watchtower shunning policy.
luckily, i had no family members there
Son and daughter-in-law .... just recently my new grandson.

as a devout jehovah's witness, mrs. merle is prohibited from celebrating her birthday.
but a week from tomorrow, relatives and friends will flock to the camoset village country living mobile home park in johnstown to attend a super bowl party that just happens to feature ice cream and cake.. "that's why we're calling it a super bowl party," explained her son bob merle, 73, who lives just five trailers down the road.
"we don't celebrate birthdays, but we have to celebrate 100 years," said mrs. mechem, 78.
I had to read the entire article to make sure that it was the same Johnstown that I know....I was born there.
Being that she is a JW in Johnstown (it's a small town)....I bet ya, my mom knew her.
At age 100, she deserves to celebrate her birthday!

if you haven't already, please read the thread richie's elders: deaf?
dumb?
if you haven't read it, you won't get the following.. so last wednsday night, after the fine spiritual feast prepared by the governing body and delivered by their "spirit appointed" waiters, i was approached by an one of the brothers who served on my judicial committee.
RR - When I read your post 'taken in the back' I thought, oh no 'it's counsel time!'
"But Richie, the reason we found it necessary to speak with you tonight is that your expressions of plans to attend college might be swaying some in the congregation. Several parents have been trying very hard to encourage their sons and daughters to regular pioneer once they finish school, but apparently, your firm stance about attending college, which we respect, might not be exactly encouraging to your young brothers and sisters.
What are they going to do to you if you do start to talk about it to other? Your next post will read 'Taken in the back AGAIN !!! '
Good for you...keep up the good work! haaa
