Its hard to predict, it seems like there are so many things that should have destroyed this religion over the last 100yrs and yet they dont die, "hierba mala nunca muere".

The Future of WTBTS: A prediction.
by Spook inin light of the recent statistics and change in awake publication, i have the following thoughts:.
1. the work in western lands is steady or decreasing.
2. foreign territory in western lands is increasing proportionately.. 3. therefore, the established, wealthier population of publishers in western lands is decreasing more rapidly, being replaced by foreign/special language territories.. 4. a majority of the financial support for publication comes from the decreasing base of wealthy western culture.. 5. the pressure for material in foreign languages is increasing.. 6. the cost of the preaching work is increasing, due to #5, and the increased costs of transportation due to oil prices, and the economics of electronic transmittals reducing the global demand for shipping.. 7. a large portion of the most zealous young peple switch to foreign territory, reducing the activity of established congregations in western lands.. 8. due to #7, #1-6 will increase in the future.. i predict: (1) further seperation of printing and operations into branches.

Have JW's set other dates since "1975" are have they quit fixing dates?
by booker-t init would seem that after 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975 that jw's would do as judge rutherford said and stop fixing dates but i was told they suggested other dates since 1975 failed prediction.
do any posters out there know of other dates suggested for armaggeddon that jw's claimed after 1975. i was talking to an elder the other day and he still insist that "apostates" started the 1975 rumor and some dedicated jw's fell for the rumor and that the wts never said 1975 was the end of the world.
he also claims that the wts only said that maybe the world would end but that they never said point blank that 1975 armaggeddon was arriving.

It is implied here to take 1914 and project out 70 (1984) or 80 (1994) years. JWs informally had used the generation of 1914 and the 70 to 80 years in Psalm 90:10 to calculate the end. Notice what the WTS says in 1978. And just the opposite in 1969, 1968, 1967.
*** w89 8/15 p. 14 Opening Up the Way Back to Paradise ***
World events since 1914 harmonize with the prophecies uttered by Jesus Christ and thus prove that Jesus has been in power since then. For over seven decades now, the people of this 20th-century generation living since 1914 have experienced the fulfillment of events listed in Jesus? prophecy found in Matthew chapter 24. Therefore, this period of time is nearing its end, with the restoration of Paradise on earth close at hand.?Matthew 24:32-35; compare Psalm 90:10.
In themselves the days of our years are seventy years; And if because of special mightiness they are eighty years, Yet their insistence is on trouble and hurtful things; For it must quickly pass by, and away we fly. PSALM 90:10Now I get why they waited until 95 to make the change, they were riding that prophecy out until the end, just hoping, PRAYING, that would be proven right.

The position that the JW's take against seeking psychological help is outrageous. I remember when I was in the even suggested that you were putting yourself at risk for demonic possession if you saw a therapist. I have a sister who has been out for a few years now but has really struggled with the guilt etc. , she doesnt know the truth about the truth. she suffers from depression, bordering on suicidal. my parents are aware and yet they still discourage her to seek proffessional help, they think that all she needs is to come back to the org.

thats cool. i used to always count 8-10 hours way back in the day, then i just stopped turning in a report. but i also told them i dint want to be a JW anymore. I didnt realize at the time that i was DAing myself but they basically didnt accept my 'resignation' I think as a favor to my elder father. i havent read all your posts but enough to know that you are living on the edge. are you considering going out "with a bang" a la LittleToe? If you do, may I suggest at the memorial, that would make you an international living legend.

Cruel Joke by Circuit Overseer
by diamondblue1974 ini was reading the thread about the prospect of the wts releasing some new light shite about a prophecy to fulfil the fact that they are not growing and it brought back a really horrid memory, unintentional i know but horrid nonetheless.. the co visited the congregation were i was from and after the obligatory song and prayer, it was announced that the co needed to speak to us urgently on a local needs issue.
he came onto the platform his look was sombre and melancholy (nothing new there then).
he said he had an announcement from the governing body and that their had been a law passed that day which banned jw's in the uk that the usa and other world governments had notified the wts that they were to follow suit shortly.

what an ass, but you got to admit its kinda funny in retrospect that they all fell for it. i bet he laughed about it as soon as he got off stage, he probably jacked off later thinking about it.

A 1914 generation question
by Pwned ini was around in 1995, barely, but i dont remember any talks or articles where the new light about the generation of 1914. did they change w/o coming right out and saying so,or was there a talk.
especially in regards to the mission statement or whatever in the awake, did they make an announcement or did they just hope no one would notice?
i just cant believe that there wasnt a mass exodus after that, my family never mentioned the change to me, i didnt even know til years later on this site.

I was in the same cong for most of my life but i moved in 94 and stopped going in 95 for totally unrelated reasons so i guess i really have no idea how many in my cong left, but i just know my family seemed unfazed.

it was so funny growing up looking around to see if anyone was going to partake. i always used to pass the wine close to my lips just to see my mother almost jump out of her seat. there was only one guy that ever partook in our hall, he wasnt even an elder and was only like 40 (in the early 90's), i dont think anyone believed him. i used to always ask my dad how people knew and i could never get a straight answer, it was all sooo mysterious, too funny.

i dont understand why people become so blindly defensive when people present conspiracy theories, believe them or dont its up to you, there's no point in trying to convince the other that their belief is wrong. just dont post and move on.
personally i have always thought that the whole 9/11 thing was just a little bit too convenient but we probably will never know the entire truth. the conspiracy theories that people get so riled up about probably have as much truth to them as the official US govt version of events.
