Badges for Conventions

each year name badges are handed out at the kingdom halls for those attending the upcoming district convention.

i have always refused to wear one but this was not a major issue as i would say only about 50% wore them anyway.

however i noticed that as the years went by more and more 'brothers' were wearing them including during the lunch break in the city centre concerned.

Question from a non JW...
Last year, my son and DIL and Grandbaby stayed at our place on their way to the DC. I noticed that my sweet little Grandbaby had her badge on. It had her first and last name on it, and underneath that were the words "Godly Obedience". Now, I have major issues about my son and his wife and the baby even being involved in this cult, but just seeing "Godly Obedience" really turned my stomach because although I don't know much about JW's, I do know that most of the obedience isn't to God. Anyway...I'm rambling here...my question is is there some sort of different "catch phrase" on the oh-so-necessary badges every year? Does the phrase somehow reflect the main theme of the convention that year? Just curious. Thanks!

yeah they print the theme on the badges, some are so corny that i was always embarrassed to have mine on outside of the hall lest someone think i was a freak

My DC invitation is delivered today

a car full of sisters whom i've known for years showed up today.

one got out of the car and asked if i got my "invitation".

she let me know that they were supposed to give one to everybody.

Did your family treat the DC as a vacation? That was STUPID, Yeah because going there was SOOOO MUCH BETTER than Disnyland

Mine did, but I did too because at least when I was younger we would stick around a day or 2 extra and see the local sites and usually it was either montreal or toronto so that was cool. by the way anyone know where spanish convention for western new york (buffalo, rochester, syracuse, etc) congregations this year?

i remember the rush to the lists when they were posted and my dad (elder) was a good dub and never called to make reservations until the list had been posted.

Yikes, there was a tract in my door

so i just went out for the mail and a folded up tract falls out of my screen door.

they must have rung the bell while i was on the treadmill.

i found one in my door too, but they didnt even really make an effort to talk to me, i was in the backyard mowing the lawn so i didnt hear them, and they saw me when i came back but they just kep walking. (i used to pretend to knock back in the day)

Does items considered part of the "Occult" still scare you?

if i met you and you saw that i wear a pentagram and often speak about tarot and rune, and mention how i do magick and you saw that i have a wiccan calender on my wall and there are statues around my house of gargoyles, dragons, and other things no good witness would be caught dead with.

would you be okay with this or does your mind still see these items as demons?

i a an adult, i can accept people being judgemental of these items and i do come to expect it, especially with my own personal background in the religion.

no, my wife has a few books on witchcraft and astrology etc. but I do still have nightmares every now and then about demons.

Do you think that the WTS is going to "collapse" and there will be no JW's?

do you think that there will come a time when the wts will be a thing of the past and people will look into their history books and say "oh yeah those jw's were around for over 120 years and now they are no longer around today in the year 20___?

" my friend thinks that jw's will not collapse and will probably get "stronger" with time.

i hope not because i am just sick of the whole wts and jw's religion.

at first i thought that michael made a deal with the others but now i think that maybe they are controlling him somehow. i dont think libby is dead, maybe about to die and she probably won't survive but i think she will be able to tell what happened, plus they have to give us her backstory, maybe they will give her backstory while she is in a coma kinda like tony soprano in the second episode of this season.
