  Is there something wrong with me?

  i just read david_10's thread "my mother died..." 13 years ago i called my mother, after i had left the lie because i'm gay.

  i hadn't been disfellowshipped at that point, but she told me she didn't want to keep in contact because "being homosexual is one of the worst things.

  " i told her ok and have never tried to contact her again.

  Although not being in the same situation as yourself I thought I could contribute. My mum too is a dyed in the wool dub. When I knew that I could no longer pretend that everything was alright and go along with what she demanded it scared me more than the elders scare me! It took me about 3 years and then finally I worked up the courage to tell her. Her reaction floored me. She was more reasonable than I could have expected. Of course she was extremely upset over it and still is. Her reaction surprised me though.

  Ultimately I wish you peace and solace on your path.

  in an earlier post i spoke of a young relative who is 16 and pregant and wanted me to help her get an abortion without the knowledge of her parents.. well i got the young girl to speak with her parents.

  i accompanied her.

  i wasn't 100% comfortable with my advice to tell her parents, because they are both dubs to the letter and dad is a hot head - he and i had numerous fights as kids growing up.

  at some convention sites, there will be protests by apostates.

  at other conventions, apostates will covertly slip in and leave messages on cars.

  however, not everyone has the fortitude to protest nor the time.

  mine was for giving a sister that i grew up with the watchtower that dealt with birthdays being on the same level as anniversaries.

  she quit going because she could not understand the societies position on birthday's.

  the elders were mad because i knew how she would react and they thought i did this to cause problems.

  Because my breasts were distracting one of the elders. He had already cheated on his wife with a young pioneer sister some years before so I guess they were scared it might happen again. Of course it was all my fault. Damn my D cup breasts!!!

  i have been making jewelry for as long as i can remember.

  for a few years i earned a living making jewelry and traveling to art shows to sell it, i even had one of those liitle carts in the mall when i was 17...ran it by myself.

  i stopped making stuff for a while but i have recently restarted my business and it is taking off!
