i know this has probably been discussed before, but i would like to take a poll of your thoughts as to what you personally would do, disassociate yourself or just fade over time.
i've been in the process of "fading" myself since november of last year, (last meeting in january, and never going back).
i have been considering making it official though by formal letter of da.
Here is another element you might consider.
You say that you mostly care about your sister and keeping in contact with her? If you were to DA yourself the family may put pressure on her if she attempts to keep in contact with you. And if she has to resort to be sneaky about her association with you it could be quite stressful for her.
Where if you remain as a fader then those pressures won't present themself.

Anewme I've watched you go through an almight struggle on this board as you've battled through those barriers you had. And you've come out shining and glorious!
How is hubby finding things now? Is he happy that you have come through this ordeal as well as you have?

This reminds me of a story from some years ago. Where we were renting we had a wild turkey living in our backyard. It was really stupid - what a turkey! LOL.
Anyway we also had a Ministerial Servant in our congregation - a real wannabe. A real turkey... And so we named the turkey after him!

As if it is! As if you would be let off scott free from field service. Are they STUPID?? You could easily prove that it is a COMPULSARY part of being in the religon.
I despise the leaders of that religon.
i just had a very enjoyable, insightful conversation with gregor, "the kool-aid man".
i learned some things and shared some things, and i think we are both the better for the conversation.. i think it would do everyone a lot of good to occasionally remember that on this forum, due to the limitations of the medium, we can really only see a weird sort of 2-dimensional person (sometimes only a 1-dimensional person) through the posts we read.
i just wanted to let everyone know i am glad i am getting to know gregor.
I love meeting posters from this place. It reveals a new dimension of their personality. Sort of more 3d instead of 2d. If that makes sense.
I've had the pleasure of meeting & reuniting with Mr & Mrs BlissIsIgnorance, Mr and Mrs Ozziepost, DarkKnight and ladyfriend, Mr and Mrs ALW, Mr & Mrs JW83, Uncle Bruce and JWFacts.
Each encounter was a great time. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each person a little better. Every time I meet someone I go away looking forward to my next encounter with someone from the forum.
I've also spoken on the phone to Misanthropic and keep in e-mail contact with her and GoodGirlBadGirl.
Gregor seems like a fab guy too!

its both an exciting and scary time for me but i did have one important question to ask:.
stilla, you may benefit from hearing what happened to me.
I was almost 30 years old and had moved out of home to the other side of town. I faded from the meetings and never heard from the elders.
One day I was spotted by a JW holding hands with a 'wordly man'.
The elders then got on the phone to my mum and emotionally blackmailed her until she gave them my address. They then turned up on my doorstep. Luckily I wasn't home. But my flat mate was and they got my phone number... (sigh)
When they called I was polite and thanked them for their interest but told them any visits from them are unnecessary as I am doing fine. (Mind you they couldn't get that through their thick heads). I didn't let them get to me (that they could tell) and finally they ended the call.
I've never heard from them again

i remember some time back where someone mentioned they got a telemarketer call on their cell phone.
it must be happening or about to happen big time and soon.
today, my financial statement came from my credit union and there was this note in it.
In Australia they have this scam going where your mobile (cell) phone gets pranked (rings once and hangs up) you ring the number back and its a recording telling you that your eligible for a prize. But you have to ring a 1900 number ($$$$) to get the code. Apparantly its all legal too. Scum bags
they can't all be on vacation.
