  Sponsoring Kids

  i sponsor a couple of kids in the third world.. how many do that?

  i reckoned that i could easily give some of the money i spent on booze and do some good.. what bugs me is that i want to go and find the little ones and rescue them from their hell.

  then when i see how many children are suffering i get all upset and want to drink again, because i can't see that me doing anything is any good.. maybe i should just get rid of the tv.... hb

  My boyfriends sisters family (phew) sponsored a child through Christian Childrens Fund on behalf of their children. They did this to help them appreciate how some people are not as fortunate as themselves. Since then they have had heaps of correspondence from the kiddy and the family go between them. My boyfriends brother-in-law (phew again) went overseas last year and had the opportunity to meet their sponsor child. He said it was one of the most beautiful experiences of his life. It was really like a second family. He was able to see the improvements the family have thanx to the sponsorship. There was a big celebration in his honour held in the village when he arrived.

  I think child sponsorship through some charity funds really does make a difference. Me and the boy are going to sponsor our own kiddy too...

  Jeff that is great news.

  As an ex witness you tend to be more cautious about getting involved in any organised religons so I am sure she has found a church that fits her spiritual needs.

  Although some ex-witnesses choose not to get involved in any religon (and as far as I am concerned that's great if thats who you are as long as your a good decent person) I have found a great local church. Its so different to what I ever expected and there is never any pressure or guilt trips laid upon me.

  It can be such a disappointment to find that an organisation you held on a pedestal doesn't live up to the standards it claims to have. You are not alone in your experience and feelings. I am confident that you will find a terrific support network here and people willing to answer any questions you might have. I too am a fader from the Borg and although it was difficult at first I am the happiest now that I have ever been.

  Thanks for taking the time to collate that material. I found the whole thing very interesting and important for any christians to assess thoroughly.

  Despite that I don't feel that a persons sexuality should have any bearing on their personality of people should judge them for it. I believe that a person should be acknowledged for who they are not what they do. The whole gay/straight thing has never been an issue for me. And I think your lovely anyways.

  I'm sorry to hear that your finding things difficult and frustrating. I wish I could say something completely profound and appropriate for your situation but I am stumped.

  Hope things look up for you soon. You've had some really positive thoughts to share in the past for myself personally and others so you certainly deserve the good things.

  my sister wrote me a letter telling me how she's going to all her meetings.

  she has two personal bible studies a week, goes to two book studies a week plus all the other meetings.

  first of all my sister was a drug addict.

  Its good to hear that your sister has managed to give up her drug addiction. However I think I understand how you are seeing the situation. Its like drugs were filling a void in her life and now she is studying with the JW's and using that as a crutch. Its a really unfortunate situation. Sounds like your sister has been through some really difficult times and has a self confidence problem. I hope that you can continue to be a strong support to her and she can see that the blood ties you share are stronger than any religon.

  Well if we are counting since January I proudly declare myself to be one of the newbies!

  I was bored at work one day and decided why shouldn't I google Jehovah's Witnesses to see what comes up. (Too scared to before because I was scared of all the evil apostates )

  But then being the ditz I am it took me another month to realise why I couldn't do anything on the site after I registered. I had problems working out what my user ID was...

  I'm getting there but!
