This reminds me of another problem with Arian (JW) doctrine about the nature of Christ. If they believe Jesus is God's son, then that would make him at least 50% God by nature, would it not?
If he was 100% man by nature, then his father must have been Joseph, not Jehovah!?

Sirona, Excellent post - I used this line of logic on my JW friend. He was completely stumped and kept trying to change the subject. By the next day he claimed he couldn't remember any such conversation.
Terry, Once again, a smashing post, except...their own history is much more effective than rubishing the Bible in order to expose them.
I accept that the Bible contains errors, but not many and not serious ones in the underlying messages. There were many errors in copying by hand, but modern scholars have reliable methods to establish almost 100% what the earliest copies said in their original languages.
There were also frauds (one verse in a source used for the KJV) (the NWT) are just two examples. Your point about flooding the market sounds plausible, but is in fact wrong.
Millions of Christians reject the idea that the Bible is infallible or verbally inerrant, so proving inaccuracies in some copies or versions is no big deal. There are more definitions of inspired or God-breathed than the JW/fundy definition.

met w/2 elders today, we had a nice visit, and talked about a few things, like why i dont go to meetings, etc etc.
told them of the lack of love in congregation, the society constantly using loaded language to put guilt trips on the r&f,.
the sept article on actually enjoying yourself vice beating in doors and telling people something they dont want to or could care less about hearing.
The PO I was 'studying' with seems to have dumped me. We only met once since the day I tripped him up over Romans 13, and he admitted JWs had never got any messages from God.
The next visit he was colder, and gave me a pile of mags to read. I sensed that was the brush off. I am always amazed that they refuse to study with those truly interested in Bible study, and prefer to knock on the doors of uninterested strangers.
Similarly, my best mate won't discuss religion with me, although I want to. He ignores my genuine interest in Scriptures and the JW religion, but prefers to knock on the doors of disinterested strangers.

Doesn't the two hours question miss the point. IF.....Jesus is God, or God's son (ie at least 50% deity by nature) then it wouldn't really matter whether he spoke for 2 seconds; 2 minutes; 2 hours; 2 days, months, years, decades, or millennia.

I see your point, up to a point, and I have less experience of JWs than nearly everyone who posts here.
plenty of lifetime members who experience "love" long after they are newly inducted into the religion.
Despite kind acts etc - how can it be "love" when they are well aware that the experience of this "love" would come to an abrupt end if for example they were disfellowshipped. My point is - that is not "love" (or perhaps it is what the thread title would describe as Third Rate Love)?
