My thoughts are with you. I've never been in but those close to me are about to be baptised and I feel ill and obsessed with doing something to help them. The harder I try, the deeper I seem to push them in.
Please persevere with ISofCF. Its one of those books that has some difficult chapters, then when you press on some simple truths just hit you. There is so much in it that I have read some chapters three or four times and still see amazing new points. Take care, stay strong.

according to the witnesses and romans 8,many of the witnesses denie being a part of the spirit of god, especially considering romans 8:9...........yet.......according to 1 john 5:1....first word in that chapter.....whoever, meaning all of us.
so it's fair to say is everyone who believes and loves him is a believer and therefore are son's of god.

Just had my 1st visit from a JW (big gun) & made follow up appointment. I may be in out of my depth. How long before he dumps me?

they didn't laugh much.. i looked on the internet and found that in 1935 you had 52,000 partakers, last year you had 8570..according to the wt, 1935 was the cutoff date for new anointed, after 1935 all are replacements.
lets assume that in 1935 the average age for an anointed was 35 yrs, probably older, but this is convenient.
Speaking of maths, can someone remind me which thread pointed out something that would suggest there had to be at least 144,001 annointed? Read this two or three weeks ago.

i noticed a change in the talk from last year.
Been thinking. After my 1st memorial/1st KH visit, I asked my friend about no one there being under the new covenant. And that the New Covenant was just for the little flock, remnant of the 144,000. This was his 3rd memorial, soon to be baptised, and he repplied to me - is that what the speaker said? are you sure? I didn't pick any of that up. Hw was also careful to make a distinction between apostles & disciples.
It occurs to me today, that apparently all JWs since the original evening meal were under the new covenant, and all partook of the emblems until 1935, when Rutherford changed the rules. So for 17 years after being appointed the faithful & discreet slave class, even that class didn't even know that their class existed. Until 1935, the faithful & discreet class (then all of Jehovah's Witnesses) did not believe in two classes of JW Christians. My brain hurts!

Thanks for the replies. I think the early Christians were very different to JWs. I found a quote by the pagan Emperor, Julian who worked hard to get his subjects to honour his gods, but failed. Julian?s ancient writings give us the best indication of how God?s early Christian witnesses behaved to their brethren, and also those non-believers. Julian referred to Christians as ?atheists? and ?godless Galileans? for they worshiped one invisible God and denied his gods. Julian wrote:
?Atheism [ie Christian faith] has been specially advanced through the loving service rendered to strangers, and for their care and burial of the dead. It is a scandal that there is not a single Jew who is a beggar, and that the godless Galileans care not only for their own poor but for ours as well; while those who belong to us look in vain for the help that we should render them.?
