  it seems that this year is flying by.

  here it is thursday again and time for our weekly vigil for outnfree.

  please send your good thoughts, positive vibes and prayers tonight starting at 8:00 central (9:00 eastern, 7:00 mountain, 6:00 pacific) to brenda ryan (outnfree's real name) in the detroit, mi metro area.

  hey ya'll, t was announced this morning at the breakfast table that there are two new members of the governing body.

  they were formerly "helpers" or "given ones.

  " anthony morris raised a family and then went into the traveling work.

  Is Clairvoyance evil or a human trait?

  the society taught that psychic ability and clairvoyance were of satan and the demons.

  they equated these characteristics as unchristian and to be avoided.

  therefore, they are linked to ouiji board, wiccan activities, and even the seer that saul visited to conjure up samuel in a vision.

  Can you give some more info about this evidence?

  The stuff I've read on quantum physics dismisses these sort of pseudo links as a distortion of the actual theories & principles, exciting and fun as they seem. I hear of research every now and then but never yet has there been one speck of evidence - here's hoping. Its like religion and God, you believe or you don't - pure faith.

  I agree with Brenda about animals sensing things, and humans have similar abilities. I'm less convinced about the conclusions or explanations people draw. Personally I believe these connections with animals are more to do with body language than anything more mysterious (eg is horse whispering just about an animal reading people) but I'm not DOGmatic about it. I think that is quite a long way from what people would describe as clairvoyance.

  If there is anything in it at all, I'm sure its quite natural, and nothing to do with Satan or demons, which I am quite sure do not exist. My two penneth.

  Rang my JW friend tonight to confirm I;ve posted a job reference for him. Couldn't resist telling him this news, & said remember - you heard it from me first, announced this morning at breakfast...I have friends inside Bethel.

  He said but all Bethelites are united and faithful. How could they talk to opposers? He asked when he would find out through his congregation, I said I dunno, but if you wanna know anything, just give me a call. He was so confused he let his guard down and discussed religion with me for an hour.

  I hope I scored a few home runs tonight.....I truly love this guy, we had been closer than brothers for 35 years until this year, when the bogeyman took him away.

  I am a Christian who has never been a JW. I happen to agree with Hibs personal opinion about the spelling of words, as mentioned in an earlier thread. But that is my personal preference.

  With respect to you, and her, that is not the primary reason why this thread has become so argumentative. That is more to do with behaviour in expressing a view in an insulting and dogmatic way.

  Whether an opinion is right or wrong is not the issue. At issue, is the idea of not allowing others to hold a different opinion. And scolding them in a superior way not in accordance with my understanding of Christianity.

  Dear all,

  I know Hibiscus started this thread, but perhaps enough is enough. What do you say we let her have the last word, and lets all move on? May I quote something from The Watchtower of all things to make my point:

  it-1 p. 429 Cheek

  Jesus had given his disciples counsel: "You heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’ However, I say to you: Do not resist him that is wicked; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other also to him." (Mt 5:38, 39) Here Jesus was not teaching pacifism or denying the right of self-defense from bodily harm, but he was teaching that a Christian does not need to pay back blow for blow, retaliating, taking vengeance. He was inculcating the principle of avoiding quarrels by not replying or reacting in kind. A slap on the cheek is not intended to injure physically but only to insult or to provoke into a fight. Jesus did not say that if someone strikes a Christian on the jaw, he should get up off the floor and hold the other side of his face for a target. What Jesus was saying was that if anyone tried to provoke a Christian into a fight or argument by either slapping him with an open hand or stinging him with insulting words, it would be wrong to retaliate. This is in harmony with the statements of the apostles, giving further emphasis to this principle.—Ro 12:17-21; 1Pe 3:9.

  I am the only one on this thread you promised to respond to, and I am still waiting. That's how the JWs treat me too - I'm getting a complex .
