i was 19, a pioneer, and a mini-serve.......first literature, then territory, and account servant at 21.....of course a janitor/window washer too (not that there is anything wrong with that!...it paid well!
).....i turned down elder as i am very non-judgemental....but almost did it so i could let everyone off in committees......geeze how i wish i had been in in college gettin laid............oompaundercover inspired this thread btw........

Baptised at 13, pioneer at 17, pointing "sisters" to the available stall in the restrooms at District Assemblies at 18. That was when I peaked.
PS: For awhile we sisters had a tag under our name tag that said "Attendant." That was changed to "Restroom" when someone pointed out that no one who wasn't a "brother" could have such a "lofty" title.
Why not just say: Cate/Pioneer/X-congregation/toilet monitor!

i have been here over 2 years, some of you for many more.
i come and go with postings.
there are so many fighting history with current marriages to jw's, time put in as elders or what ever title you held.. some of us grew up in the worst possible time period,....description is not always possible here.. sometimes i feel we can;'t get beyond it.....we just keep talking about... is that bad or is that ok?.
The longer I am away from the borg, and the more I talk to my new friends who have no knowledge of what being a JW means, the more I am aware of how weird our lives were. That being said, I think we do let go, but little by little, and depending on our personal circumstances. I have some friends who have moved on quickly; perhaps they were never as invested as I was. For myself, it is a slow process.

this isn't especially thought out on my part, but i wanted to put this out there.
it's more about elders, and how some who had to handle judicial committees could at least be as reasonable as possible, or total idiots.. many have been mistreated by a jc.
in fact, i bet that just by agreeing to disfellowship someone, i have contributed greatly to a few peoples emotional and spiritual misery.
I think for many elders, it is the one place in their life they have power. I believe one elder I knew used his position as PO to try to impress his "wordly" father, who had wanted him to go to college and become a doctor. (Not that this particular nut job could've done it, but I digress.) I think this desire was one of the reasons for his dictatorial approach to "shepherding."

today, as i wait for the grout on the kitchen floor to dry, i began to ponder...... i wonder looking back just how insensitive to reality i could have been to have spent the vastness of my youth and midlife believing the obvious lies of jehovah's witnesses.
though i enjoy my freedom, i have no foundational background upon which to prop it.
though having a sense of being reborn, that rebirth has taken place late in life, and has left me feeling somewhat empty.
Not stupid at all. Perhaps disoriented. Having left the way of life I lived for my entire life, I find myself feeling that way--disoriented, I mean. Everything had been planned out--no surprises. Now, while having the freedom to think and do whatever I want, I still find the adjustment difficult at times.

my mom died 18 years ago tonight, she was 65 years old and had ovarian cancer.
she was a jw until the end.
my daughter and i, who do not attend meetings, are listening to some of her favoriate music tonight and having a seagrams 7 in her honor (her favorate drink, on ice, hidden behind the canister set in the kitchen).
Gram: I'm sorry I missed this on the 27th. I'm glad you could remember her with a loved one. Condolences on your loss.

there are several places on the internet where the hypocrisy of jehovah's witnesses is on full display.
what i am about to write is not new, but it is on my mind, so i thought i would write about it.
(disclaimer, i am an agnostic writing this, using the bible against jw lies.
