Wow! What an amazing kid! And an amazing mom, to make sure this happens. You are right to be proud of both of them.

had a pleasant surprise today whilst listening to my local abc (australian broadcasting commission) radio station to find that the presenter was talking to a garry, with an american accent, regarding jws.
i began listening subsequent to the introduction of the segment, but eventually worked out that it was in relation to the person appointed to head a political party in queensland happening to be a former jw.. the discussion centered around garry's involvement with the jws and various activities in which the dubs are infamously known.
garry left a good 'witness' for ex-jws.. at the end of the segment the presenter thanked garry busselman from (such and such) in the u.s. and i thought, that name sounds familiar, and, sure enough, it is our very own garrybus.. it would be interesting to learn how garry came to be invited to discuss the subject.. cheeses - keeping up with current affairs..
Gary is a riot and one of my favorite people!

me and the wife both.
for our you know, pre-marital bumping of the fuzzies.
all of those years of guilt she had- she's shocked that all she got was a slap on the wrist.
"I've often wanted to pull a pair of my own out of my pocket so that I could add emphasis to my own deep thoughts."
"So we will, you know, learn our lesson and not have premarital sex with each other again."
Hilarious Jimmy!
But seriously folks, this thread brings up a point that has long bothered me. I believe the correct statement is: I was privately reproved. A matter is brought up, and it is dealt with. No one is actually "on" private reproof. (Any ex-elders here who can confirm this?) So why must there be "punishment?" I don't think it's about readjusting a sinner at all. I think it's about creating fear of being publicly humiliated. And about power...the power to do that to someone.
A decent person would've said, "Mrs. Jimmy, this happened a long time ago, you are obviously sorry about it, let's just move on."
And, as someone else said, how does removing the ability to participate in the meetings help anyone? All it does is make the meetings more boring and tedious!
I'm sorry for the stupidity that you are going through, but glad it wasn't worse than it was.

i wanted to share some very cool (in my opinion) news.
in two months i will have been gone from bethel for 14 years and attended my last meeting 11 years ago.
i spent 11 years at bethel sacrificing all of my 20's to the borg and finding myself at age 32 with no resume or real work experience.. it has been a tough haul with the majority of my energy going into building a career.
Congratulations! It's wonderful to read something so positive and encouraging. Thanks for posting that!

saw it was her on the caller id.
mil: silence.
mil: i am looking for mrs ak jeff [spoken as if she had no idea who the man who answered the phone could be].
I'm so sorry Jeff. They talk about walking in Christ's footsteps and then act like that! Like you, even when I was a hardcore believer, I had a hard time shunning people. It just didn't feel right.

greetings all:.
i just want to say howdy and thank you .
.
Oh Cadellin I so feel for you! The crying! I thought I was going crazy too (note name, Ha!). I can remember sitting at meetings thinking, "why doesn't this bother anyone else?"
Regarding your husband, how does he husband feel about the changing blood doctrine. With some of the other stuff, a person can say (even if I don't agree) that it's not that big a deal. But the policy on blood is often life or death! That is one thing that finally got through to my husband. If these men keep changing things, if they keep getting it wrong, why are we letting them make life or death decisions for us. Does he know that once upon a time they said that transplants were cannabalism? Then they changed it.
Wishing you well, Cate
i have been reading this site for a while now but have never posted.
i am an ex-pioneer, who left the organization 15 years ago.
i served as a need-greater in a foreign country and when i came back i walked away.
Weldome! Many of us have family whom we would love to see wake up. In the meantime, this is a good place to heal.

"Examine the evidence for yourself..."
Well, good grief! That's what I was trying to do and then everyone got so upset!
