You mentioned that you were not able to see the page becuase it was not found? Try the 3 rd post of mine above yours...it should work. I figured out the url was wrong because I added an L after the HTM part.
I still dont quite understand the quotes part before the http part....do I want to put the WHOLE url in quotes, or just http in quotes?

This subject has always been one of the many subjects that I could not justify by WT teachings enough to believe it.
I remember the many explanations given to show that the number is to be taken literally. One that still stands out was the reasoning (or unreasoning) that the number has to be literal in order to contrast with the GREAT CROWD...in other words...little vs big. That line of reasoning never did satisfy my quest for truth in this matter, as did none of the others mentioned....it just did not make sense. And it still does not make sense.
i've narrowed it down to three choices:.
bonnie raitt singing..... "that summer night in texas, baby.
too hot and wet to sleep.
I cannot narrow any one line down, but I've always thought Billy Joel's JUST THE WAY YOU ARE was the most romantic song ever heard.

Here is the truth about the origins of the Am I A Bad American story.
I belong to some political disscussion groups, and I remember when this first started going around last year. Some said it was by TEd Nuegent, others said George CArlin. There are also many varients of this article going around too, some not as politically correct as this version is.
The real author of this story is a guy from FreeRepublic.com. It first appeared in FreeRepublic.com in Sept of 2000. It has since spread, picking up title changes and additions since it caught like wildfire and was forwarded in emails.

Admitably, the article was posted by a conservative right winger, an attempt to express his particular views. While I personally agree with some of it, I have discussed and argued about alot of it many many times this past year in my political groups.
I am always very hesitant to believe emails going around internet at face value, as most of them prove to be hoaxs if you do the research to find out. While this one was not really a hoax, it was just embellished and given improper authorship, it is still interesting to see other's views on it.

i'm sure you all have some good comical stories of pple farting during prayer or other quiet times during meeting.
as a personal experience of mine, the night before i had eaten a frozen pizza, doritos, and some old chocolate milk.
this combination produced the worst smelling brew i have ever had.
LOLOL....too funny.
We had bookstudy at a brother's house. The bathroom was right off of the living room where we all were for the study. The door to the bathroom did not muffle out the noises, unfortunatly. My best friend at the time was very sick to her stomach. She had a sudden urge to use the bathroom during the bookstudy. She got up and went to use it. The older brother conducting the bookstudy was slower, and had lots of long pauses and gaps while he was conducting. A long pause ensued. The entire bookstudy was treated to hearing my best freind blow out the bathroom,,,,and we heard everything, my poor friend was very sick! No one could keep a straight face.
She eventually was able to laugh along with us a few months after her horror wore off.
one of the things many of us faced as we left the wts was the loss of respect from witnesses that we may have really liked.
some may point to us as those who have lost jehovah's spirit and blessing in their life, and are suffering the consequences.
these can be hard issues to face.. yesterday i was discussing these ideas with a psychologist friend, and later with my wife.
Most definatly we are looked down upon after leaving. Alot of my former friends feel pity for me. My x feels that I am very weak for leaving. I feel the opposite, I feel very strong for leaving....it was not easy at all.
It is funny, all the uncomfortable looks I get from the ones i see in the store, etc. It used to bother me, but now, I feel pity for the JW's. I kind of get a kick out of how my former friends react....I will purposly go through the line of a JW working at a store, just to see how they react! Sometimes it is so funny, I can't help but laugh.
personally, i like under 6', muscular, dark eyes, curly dark hair.. self-confidence is a must, as is laughing at my jokes!

I like all body types with the exception of skinny. Man must have some meat on him. As they say, "Bones are for the dog, meat is for the man (WOMAN in this case)".
As far as height, I like my man taller than me, which me being at 5'2, that usually is not a problem.
All eye colors and hair colors are good, but I do have weakness for brown eyes, they eyes of passion.
A man who is confident in his manliness (not concieted, though) is a big turn on to me. He also MUST LIKE TO BE CLOSE AND CUDDLE. I have always been attracted to men a little on the conservative/old fashioned side...seems to me that while they are generally controlled to the public, they are quite different in private! LOL
He must be strong in spirit and be loyal and protective of those he loves.
A man with a kind heart to animals and children will definately get noticed by me.

No and Yes. No, as a faithful JW, I look back and really see that I did not believe in God back then. I was using the JW's as an escape from my insecurities and problems. I just took what I was told as "truth" and did not question it, as I was in fear of losing the (imaginary) security of belonging to something. I was told that God was jehovah and blah blah blah and this is what I was supposed to do to be happy and to make others happy. I never had the real oppourtunity to allow myself to explore what God is and if God exists.
I agree with one of the above posters. Once you have been through the JW's, you have learned to be cautious. You have taught yourself to be careful as to what you believe, so as not to fall prey to another hocus pocus medium.
This is where my yes comes in. Now that I have been able to freely think on my own and examine the concept of higher powers, I have been able to come to at least some short term conclusions. As of now, I feel that there MAY or may not be a god. If so, this god really doesn't have a lot to do with humans. But I equally believe that the concept of God may just be a human invention. It may be that god is what you make it in your self. It could be your state of spirituality.
I think the question of god may be one that takes perhaps a lifetime to find out. Perhaps one will never find answers. The more older I get, the more I realize as others have stated, one doesn't really need God in order to live happily and productivly in life.
Sometimes I feel that SOME pple who believe in god are taking the easy way out. Putting blind or so called-proven faith in God can be looked at as a cop out as compared to searching for meaning on one's own. It is possible to have meaning in life without god, but one must work hard to reach it. Does what I just said make any sense? lol
Is there a God? That is a question only we each can answer individually and can ultimatly only find it out for ourselves. It does bring comfort to know that others do feel the same as you do, and have the same struggles as you did in order to get to where you are at. That is the beauty of sharing insights!
