Not really. Witnesses were always shallow back assward to me. I maintained most of my worldy friends because quit frnakly they were more of what a friend should be then any witness. There was one I really liked and was close with but he is inactive now too... Hmm I see a trend.

Being Marked
by TheOneBuck inpardon my igorrance to this but i do not recall ever hearig a talk markig someone.
i have been publicly reproved before but is this the same thing.
when they mark an individual do they mention their name, or is a talk of generalities and people can point out who they are talking about.

Brooke... I have heard of that junk before.... but yet it is for a witness to go to a wedding if the people are not JW at all...No need to get started
Dustin - Man I know what you went through having a non-JW g/f. Making talk about stress... wow. The constant feeling that you are letting Jah down, the hope that they would just convert, the sadness of them when you had to say no to holidays. the constant compromise that we had to do with either them or god. The nightmare where are we going to get married..... My god it is amazing I stayed sane for so long with all that junk.
I did not get a lot of pressure from the elders becuase when the were shepparding me I told them that no where in the bible does it say I can not be doing this and Gods word directly is more important to me then your interpertation of it. Man I felt so bad for loving this girl because they tried to make me think it was wrong. I should someday tell her sorry for all the BS I put her through because of this religion. God bless her she tried her damnest that is for sure.
That brings me to today I guess, kind of hoping I am making the correct decision to leave or is it because of my own waeknesses that I am deciding to leave. I am sure like everything else, time will answer all questions huh...

What's The Main Concern For A Jehovah's Witness?.. How About A Christian's?
by minimus injws clearly don't seem to be like other "christian" religions when it comes to their mission.
a jw's mission is simply to preach.
taking care of the ill, doing errands for the elderly, visiting other members----these are not priorities to a witness.

If ANYTHING gets in the way of the "ministry" or meetings----they are from the Devil.....How different from Christ Jesus!....
I would say this a bit jaded... actually a lot jaded, but I agree preaching was the most important thing. In every KH I attended it was encouraged that we helped and visited those who were elderly or who were sick that were JW of course. I did take a lot of slack for helping out in the community a lot. I volunteered to help with inner city youth on the weekends. I organized special things for the homeless and this was frowned upon because I could have been using my efforts to preach. In my mind and heart the best witness I could ever do was help those in need and give back to the community. I am sure I brought more praise to Jehovah from people who came up to me and asked what "Church" I went to as I handed them their first hot meal in weeks in many cases then if I would have spent all day knocking on empty doors.
I am still a firm believer in this... the best preaching you can do is by displaying christ like attitude in your every day life, not nessacary preaching at people.

Law and Order
by jula71 indid anyone catch last night?s law and order?
the plot was about a cult that had a history of child molestation and when accusations surfaced, the leader said that kind of thing is not tolerated and those involved were expelled from the church.
hmmmm?who does that sound like?
-
TheOneBuck
I know where you are going with this, but this can be applied to just about any of the major religions out there IMHO.

RIP..... There is a lot of good that has come from this unfortunate tragedy. It is really good that people are talking these things out with their family and loved ones.
