Well I strongly believe in grey area, nothing is as black/white as it appears. I find this the hardest thing for me to deprogram, and that there is several sides to every story. Anyway back to the question. I would love to find a religion/church I could go to to thank God for everything he has done. I know that I do not need it but in a way it makes me feel better. As the one poster has said everytime I go to one, I find somehthing wrong with it. Maybe it is not even wrong, just different from what I still hold on to from the my JW days.

Man there are a lot of these stories....but the most intesne..
I was inactive for a while in my youth from like 12-18 and I was out i service for like the 2nd or 3rd time. A visabily intoxiacated guy I was talking to just kept poking me in the chest, I was cool at first and said listen we will leave. He then took me by my arm and said F-you Mother F...er you woke me up you will listen to what I have to say. I just hauled off and clocked him. The man went down and I went to kick him when his crack -whore of a wife came out screaming she was going to call the cops. I said go ahead you you piece of sh.. they should be out doing their job and getting pieces of sh.. like you out of the community. The pioneer brother I was with was just shocked.,... he didn't say a word at all just took me back to the hall to get my car and went off.
Oh well... I tried :-)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TERRI SCHIAVO CASE?
by Mary inthere is apparently no chance at all of her ever recovering from her present state, but do you think she should live or die?
for myself, i think she's better off dead than living---no, existing---in her present state.
i for one, have instructed my family to let me die if something like this ever happened to me.

NewLight2:
I was not calling you out at all, and after re-reading my post I sounded like an ass and for that I appologize. I did check out the link but I agree with the poster there was nothing there that overwhelming to make me think different. Bottom line is, if I was dying I would want my SO have the final say, not my parents or the goverment. My question to others who support her, how do you know she is not miserable now and is hoping to die? Is that not inhumane as well. Plus, by removing here feeding dude is not a cruel painful death like many are saying. In fact is painless peaceful death.

Yesterday was a bad day!
by purplesofa inyesterday i had a bad day.
i know what depression means now.
not so sad, not so mad.

Sorry to hear you going through such a hard time. Depression is one of the hardest things to deal with. All the advice you get is generic and people usually say to stop thinking about it or to get over it. I am sure you wish it was that easy huh. Well now is the time to be a little selfish. Do what it is that you need to do, want to do. Focus on the things that make you happy. Also, a big thing that helps me when I am down is pray. I am not sure your feelings on a higher power or not, but if you still believe in god.. then try it. Hang in there and use this board to vent, there are a lot of people here who are willing to listen and help..
((((Big Hugs))))

Lot of the "facts" you just spit out were opinion...if it is your opinion great but do not state here are the facts accusing her husband of such horrible things when most of it is just pure specualtion.

I fully believe in God and Jesus. As far as religions go, I do not think that there is one that has the "truth". I think all religions have its place and even the org is good for some people. I personally have not found that religion for me yet but can not say I am looking to hard either. I am very thankful for everything god has done for me and I thank Jesus daily for giving his life for me. Maybe I am wrong about god and Jesus, but that is ok because I am at peace and happy with it. Plus believing in God is a whole lot easier for me to accept then evolution that I was taught in HS and during my undegrad days.

Give Reasons Why You're Happy That You're No Longer A Witness
by minimus inone reason is that you don't have to go to boring meetings 5 times per week and field service where you knock on doors knowing no one will answer.
-
TheOneBuck
Actually there are a lot of superficial reasons why I am happier, but the biggest thing is just having the abality to have true compasation for others. When I was in the organization I never really felt empathy or sorrow as I do that I am out. I have a complete different outlook on people and I am actually touched more and more willing to help others then when I was ever in the org.

Can anyone help with info to refute only 144,000 going to heaven?
by The Leological One ini've recently shown my wife this forum (she's a df'd jw who does still hold fast to jw views).
she's been really depressed and feels down on herself constantly because she wasn't a better witness and seems to feel she has no hope of a personal relationship with god now that she's df'd.
i was a little upset a moment ago trying to get her out of her depression by pushing my point of view that the wt is full of $hit regarding a great many number of things, the least of which that only 144,000 people are going to heaven/effectively can be saved.

by telling her the views that were depressing her were wrong to begin with
Who likes being told they are wrong.. Make yourself visable when you do research, so she might sit it. Actually do some research together and see what you think about the 144,000. Do not rely on others to tell if it is right or wrong decide for yourself. I think if you both go into it with an open mind you will be amazed at the outcome... not only hers but yours.
