You are right DragonLady, there is definately something up with Mnb77. How can someone reason that what God did in the Hebrew scriptures is just. If that is in fact "just" then it should be no problem to knock of a murderers family because we wouldn't want their genes spread around like a bad virus.
I sometimes wonder if the Hebrew scriptures are even about the All Powerful God most of us believe in. It kind of rings of Egyptian beliefs, As well as some of the other pagan beliefs at the time. I do believe in God, but I am leary of believing all the terrible murders and massacres in the Hebrew scriptures are from the Most High God. Most christian religions believe the Israelites were God's chosen people, but didn't most people in that time believe they were superior with their Gods.

after all these years of going to meetings, what did the average jw learn?

1. god's name is probably jehovah or yahweh .
I learned not to love or appreciate yourself. That everyone else is more important and that you are at the mercy of the elders. That being mentally healthy and having self-esteem might cause you to think too much on your own and create spiritual sickness.
Family is not to be trusted about anything. That you are essentually "alone" if you have questions. There is absolutely no one you can talk to about it without being reported or labeled.
If you DA yourself, you are at fault for not having family and if you would just smarten up then your JW family wouldn't have to suffer.
hi everyone.... i was "raised" as a dub and got baptised in '86...so in total i had been a jw for over 20 years.
i came to realize that the "way of life" i was living was in fact made up of mostly lies.
i started "questioning" the borg about 6 years ago and finally came out with almostatheist last sept. i know in my heart that they are mostly wrong and very legalist.

As you do more research not only on JW's, but also othe religions you will find that ALL religions have some things right! I personally don't think that everything the witnesses believe are wrong.
I definately think that when they impose on each persons freedom of thought, concience, life etc and think that they have the God given right to do so then they are WRRRRRRRRong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that anyone who grew up in a system like the witnesses are always going to have problems adjusting to finally totally realizing that JW's do not have the one true right religion. No body does. It is still going to come down to each individual not each individuals religion. God doesn't care what organization you belong to, just what kind of person you are in this life.

this is my first chance to post here since last thursday, so here it is.
amanda and i arrived at approximately 5:45 pm, and parked in the walmart parking lot.
amanda bought a folding chair and something to eat, as she just got off work.. we walked across the street to the kingdom hall and stood on the shoulder of the road.
I wish I could have seen the elders reaction. I also wish I was brave enough to do something like that!!!!!!

were they hard asses whether they were jws or not?
My stepdad is an elder since I was about 10yrs. We had a very messed up family as well it was a step family. I have one sister who is married to an elder and after I DA'd myself she decided to pioneer(guess she thought the devil was goin to get her). My other sister is missing and no longer a JW ( really wish I knew where she was). My 3 brothers are all JW, but are barely in there. None of them associate with me though(because I'm evil).
None of my JW family have anything to do with me now, but my mom and stepdad will stop ;in once a year to see the grandkids. My family are all good people just very very very messed up people and yet they think I am the one that's a mess. Whatever!!!

i was wondering if anybody feels like i do that if i hadn't been raised a jw i would never have embraced the religion.
i know it's easier to say in hindsight after i know the truth about the org but honestly i don't think i would have given them the time of day.
i'm not a religious person or even a spiritual person and being a jw always caused a conflict in my mind.
I doubt it because I question things too much and want solid answers( something I was nevr given).
I also wished I could have been in sports and encouraged to get an education instead of "pioneering" and "getting married".
I asked my mom if she thought she had really prepared me to live in the real world. And then I asked her how if I had married a real jerk and had 6 kids how I would have been able to manage life with the information she passed down to me.
I seriously and highly doubt I would have commited much of my life to this religion
