i have been reading all of the feed back for saddler and the others.
i too have been in a relationship with a jw for a little over a year.
i love her very much but all the abuse i have taken over the pass year from her elders, uncles, grandfather...etc has really taken it's toll on me.
I married my worldly boyfriend. We have been married for 12 years and had 3 children together. Just to warn you, that if you are not a witness and you are married to this witness girl, she is subject to you until the elders require something of her that you don't agree with. In that case you become invalid and she becomes subject to the elders. They will say "Jehovah requires you to bla bla bla" to her.
To quote my elders about field service when my husband was against it-- " He will either put up with it or he will leave" It was like my husband and father to my children was just extra baggage.
Best of Luck Anyway

ok, it could be a motorcycle or a truck too.
I wish I had a few pictures of the "exotic" cars we drove. We were farm people!!! We owned a very very old Renault that had a crank start on it. Just imagine 6 kids and our 2 parents piling in and out of that at every meeting. Cheap on gas though and dad found it in a field somewhere- the cost $200.00. Another plus, if we couldn't start it with a key we could pull out the crank and manually do it. If all else failed, we push started it. OHHH great times!!!
Then we had a bright yellow voxwagon. The problem-- dad was a skunk trapper!!!! Guess what we smelled like at the meeting. Yes my parents were freaks. How did he ever become an elder?

my daughter from california called me and said my grand daughter from arkansa called her and no longer wants to be a jw, that she is a pot head and has a boy friend and wants to be emancipated and to top it all off she wanted to talk to her grand paw (me).
in her words, "i don't want to be a jehovah's witness and put up with that shit.
i don't beleive that shit.
Reckless,
My dad was demonized by the witnesses for being apostate. When I looked him up finally and pursued a relationship with him, it was extremely important that he was a good listener.
Also it took a long time for me to be sure I could trust him and that he wasn't evil afterall. Last time I saw him I was 4, finally phoned him when I was 19.
Good Luck with your relationship.

i am the youngest of 6 children (the only on that is out)and between us we have 12 kids.
the last i knew only one was still attending meetings.

Out of 6 kids only 2 are out. Actually my WHOLE family is still friggin in. That means all the aunts and uncles and cousins- close to 30 family member.

do you think a jw man or woman would make a better spouse for someone compared to a "wordly" person?
not that many jws would want to marry non jws but it would be interesting to discuss such an issue to see what comes up.
some may argue that a jw spouse is more likely to be loyal and gentle but there are also many pitfalls with jws.
My husband chose me partly because I used to be a witness. He felt I would be least likely to cheat on him.
I think if you asked him now about his reasoning back then he would probably smack his forhead. I did get reinstated and he eventually go through to me by his
good humour and logic. It is all good now, but our marriage was FULL of problems for at least 5 years and then got less and less.
As a JW wife I think I was loyal, but seriously screwed up. I don't know if it would have been any different the other way around. Thank God I will never have to know.

today i phoned our hospital to make arrangements to deliver the new booklet by kerri louderback-wood.
i spoke with someone from administration about how the witnesses have been misinformed about blood and that i felt the medical staff should be aware of this.
i was told that they have to provide medical care for a wide variety of religions and beliefs and must not take a side.
So I asked them if they were aware of the Bethany Hughes case in Calgary and that the doctors involved with her care are being sued.
You should have heared the change in attitude and voice coming through the line. All of a sudden she was quite interested, gave me the appropriate name to contact at the hospital and was looking forward to seeing it.
Now my question so that this booklet doesn't get thrown in a pile somewhere. I want to attache a note that may grab the attention of the person this book is sent to. What should I write?
I was thinking of just putting the Bethany Hughes case in it since Calgary is not too far from us- They would be very aware of this. Our town is a small city and most times doesn't deal with these types of issues, but I want people to know what is wrong with the whole JW blood theory.
I also have 2 friends who have had some association with JW that are willing to give out 2 booklets, but of course they are going to do the anti-witness thing with the JW they know first. Then hand them out to the annoying JW that comes to their door and won't take NO for an answer.

looking back at the 10 or so cases of disfellowshipping i recall, i think only 1 was due to the orwellian borg spy system.
he was ratted out.. all the other cases were actually "confessions" by people that otherwise would have gotten away with it.
i am wondering is these percentages.
I was ratted out by my pious mom!!!! She was so disgusted in me. She went into my house knowing Iwasn't there and read a letter I wrote to a guy.
I wrote about our night together. Imagine coming home to my house being invaded by my mother going through my things and then telling me how
disgusting she is. Watch out for elders wives, even if they are your mom. I guess I always knew she couldn't be trusted.

i've been lurking here a long time.
one of the topics that i rarely see disscussed is how many of you parents beat their kids because the religion told them to?
if so did you really beat your kids (after reading from the bible) or did you ignore the rule?
My step-father has told me as well as others in the cong that my stories are a LIE!!!! My sister-a JW elder wife and my half-brothers heared him say it and are stunned that he
won't admitt we were treated very badly. Of course because I am no longer a JW he CAN say I am lying because no one will come and ask me about it. His son----my half-brother
beat me almost every day and admitts how bad he was to me and is sorry, but again my step-dad told everyone I am lying. My mom won't stand up for me either.
Now as an adult and raising my own children, I did get help to learn how to handle kids because I had nothing to judge what is normal discipline for children. I still feel much anger
for the abuse I lived with, but am doing pretty good now. There is no way in hell I would ever not believe the stories of abuse from some of the ex-witnesses.
Most of our abuse was mental, but there was physical abuse and we were told to lie since my step-dad was an elder. (my mother told us to lie).
I remember hiding because I was so scared of his rage. He through me in a closet for sucking on my brothers soother when I was 4. His spankings were so bad that we couldn't sit for days.
My sister was thrown through my gramas glass door(breaking it) then had her arm twisted and thrown down the stairs. Just a few examples of presiding over your family properly.
Sorry, but feeling a little bitter right now and just needed to post!

after my dog chewed the internet cable and left me off line for 24 hours, i got inspired to post this topic.
have your pets caused damage in your house or even beyond?
my dog also chewed and ruined a couple of shoes and a ten pound note (around $18) that fell to the floor without me realising this.
I had a dog that chewed up my brand new linoleum(sp). She chewed most of our baseboards also. The linoleum was pretty much the last straw for him as I was at my witts end with him.
The dog we have now is put in a kennel if we have to leave and if it is for any length of time he comes with.
