  Sociopaths - What's Your Story?

  first - some facts about sociopaths.

  1 out of 100 people are sociopathic and they are rational people.

  they are not deluded.. 2. they display a lack of conscience, an inability to feel remorse, and above average intelligence .

  Even back when I was a ‘believer’ I was aware of JWs who were con-artist types.

  Did I have these instincts because I was not raised in the religion and worked? Who knows? All I knew was there were people there who were full of sh#t and I avoided them.

  I also feel that even though in the world you will find con artist types, I believe they are over-represented in the religion.

  Again, I blame the stupid culture there with ‘no boundaries’ and being told you should ‘widen out’. But, what were you widening out to? ..I’m not being targeted by people who are desperadoes or crazies. (In case any aren’t aware, people with serious ‘issues’ were brought into the religion the last two decades. They did this to fill the empty seats in the halls.)

  The demographic in the religion has changed for the worse.

  I also think the culture of the religion inadvertently creates very adept Users. People may not have joined as one but they become one. Some of them now are older and more desperate and they don’t feel shame..All these are reasons contributing to why I’m Glad to no longer be in this religion.

  Gossip

  question for former elders:.

  how much of your time was spent quelling gossip and rumors floating around.

  i'm not talking about csa type stuff, just regular insignficant stuff that people occupied their time over..

  Everything you say is true, especially the part about if a JW is not liked by another their reputation will be trashed..I also agree that the religion encourages snitching and gossiping. In fact, they go hand in hand.

  Also what you said about knowing elders and MSs’ who divulge things is sad and I have known about this all along. There is No confidentiality and certainly No accountability.

  I will say this though: I knew of old time elders who would Never do this. But the old adage about ‘the chain is only as strong as its weakest link’ holds true. It makes No difference if five elders are ‘by the book’ and discreet and there is One who doesn’t care and opens his mouth!..The secrets are out and the cat is out of the bag.

  But, the heart of the matter: in my opinion I truly do not believe the Witnesses REALLY care about confidentiality or anybody’s privacy. They are the antithesis of privacy. They only give lip service to the idea of privacy. Anybody who believes they really care about the average R&Fs privacy, dignity or rights has been fooled.

  Gossip

  Elders didn’t ‘quell’ anything.

  If anything, they told their wives. Then these stupid women told every douchebag pioneer (who actually felt entitled to know EVERYTHING about everybody). I’m not exaggerating when I say everything.

  I came to know gossip of a very personal and embarrassing nature about certain people there. This could only have gotten out if some elder opened his mouth. Somebody revealed a tidbit that some stunted born-in in the hall was a source of much gossip and made sure any new brother came to know the dirt on people. I believe this person came to know these things from their mom who was an older pioneer and heard much!

  Also, what happens when an elder leaves or steps down? What happens to all the confidential info they came to know? They aren’t held to the confidentiality standard of an attorney or a doctor..The JW religion is a silly thing..So, Everybody is at the mercy of an ex-elder’s discretion. This is assuming he even has any.

  I hope nobody believes they have any confidentiality in this stupid chaotic religion/organization or whatever you want to call it. Anything about anybody has been repeated by many ignorant and unaccountable people.

  Dating in the Org

  you men, who were brothers in the congregation and you were dating sisters in the congregation, did you find that they cared more about how you made them look in the congregation than they cared about you?.

  you women, who were sisters in the congregation and you were dating brothers in the congregation, were you more concerned about how he affected your status & how you were viewed in the congregation, than you cared about him?.

  Yes, I would have left him too after that slap.

  What an awful position to be in: to be held responsible for somebody else ‘looking good’! Never mind all his rules and regulations..There is so much garbage women put up with in a marriage. It’s having a boss for your whole life!!! It’s bad enough about verbal abuse and having to deal with bad personality traits. But, once somebody raises their hands, it’s Over. It wouldn’t matter if I were living in luxury and/or had kids, I could not stay.

  I know about life not being ‘all roses’ but having peace of mind is priceless.

  In times past and even in other parts of the world today women are dependent on men for the food and shelter over their heads. They tolerate Everything!..I wasn’t raised a JW and am grateful I live in a Western country and was able to support myself and Retire.

  More importantly, I’m Glad I never listened to JW busybodies who tried to interfere in my personal business back when I was younger.

  ROAD TO NOWHERE:

  I am sorry about those you mention with ‘relative poverty imposed by beliefs’. I’m glad I NEVER followed these ‘beliefs’ or teachings!

  Definitely the churches of Christendom give more support..The JW religion gives nothing to anybody!!!
  

  Any ‘help’ a person would get would be because somebody takes up a collection…They would even have the balls to go up to people criticized as ‘bad association’ because of having a career or full time job and ask them!!..Yes, they’d be cornered by some chump with an envelope. This is why I’m GLAD I’m no longer there!

  Hopefully, this widowed sister in this fictional JW fantasy situation had a husband who provided well. Otherwise, she’s going to have to get a J.O.B.

  Maybe if she’s lucky she won’t be shunned by certain married women in the congregation (as is the custom) who will now see her as a threat as a youngish attractive woman.

  Regarding JWs commenting on staged photos of fiction as if they were real:..

  It is the the same annoying stupidity that I saw years ago at the book study when people would comment about a drawing in the book as though it were an actual photograph taken in the First century!

  Do these fools actually listen to themselves?? There were no cameras or video recorders back then. It’s as though Witnesses have tricked their brains. They want to believe some ‘magic’ occurred and what they are seeing is genuine and not modern artwork dreamed up by some brown nose at bethel.

  RULES & REGULATIONS:

  This type of thinking is what causes JWs to become heartless and stifles human feelings. It’s this type of heartlessness which can make it easier to shun their flesh and blood family members.

  The religion doesn’t want people to grieve or be absent from the indoctrination sessions. They are afraid if this person stays away and gets comfort from neighbors or other non-Witnesses, they might not want the religion anymore. That would be their greatest fear: another one lost.

  Yes, I saw on Reddit that Denmark will not honor the ‘No Blood’ cards.

  Maybe they are afraid that in some cases those forgotten cards carried in a wallet may not really reflect what a person’s current beliefs are!

  Suit, shirt and tie

  i always hated suit, shirt and tie and wondered why men of all walks of life should be forced to wear these uncomfortable clothes and spend the money on them.

  it should be remembered some of the worst people wear them, like creepy joe, putin, dirty corrupt frauds in business, law etc.

  Just my opinion on men’s clothing: I always thought ties were awful and I can understand why some men hate them.

  I like the look of those untucked shirts on men.

  I also like the look of the un-suit type of suit. It’s more casual but looks put-together. As for those tight pants: I don’t know how flattering they are - especially if the guy has skinny legs..Maybe just a little looser without being baggy.

  Why is it when one person attack you on a forum thread eveyone likes to pile on?

  i have noticed this on many many forums.

  so i don't have this forum in mind for this topic.

  so you may have noticed this also, but many times on threads once someone does an attack or a negative comment about someone, or the way they write or anything else on the thread, everyone else seems to just pile on by reaction not thought.

  Wow, that response was uncalled for! Can somebody say ‘arrogant’?

  There have been posters that have passed through here over the years. Some see themselves as intellectuals who are tolerating everybody else who they perceive as beneath them educationally or mentally.

  Usually at some point they move along. I doubt if anybody really misses them.
