Do JWs see the org falling apart?

i have been away from the jw cult for many years.

i don't have any family i talk to that are in it.

so i don't know if the jws as a whole are seeing the cult fall apart or if they or the majority of them are head in the sand la la la the end is neigh.

It’s a social club at this point and for the older Witnesses there just coasting, that’s fine for them. They already supposedly made their living. Let them stay there.. But, if somebody is young and has to make a living and function in the real world around sane people - they better get the hell out of there, in my opinion.

When I left after the 1995 Generation teaching, I was well into my working career so I didn’t leave for that. I left because I couldn’t stand any more BS. I also was tired of the phoniness and intrusive behavior, etc.. I had no more tolerance for this worthless unpaid ‘second job’ as I saw it.. I knocked myself out making meetings on cold week nights after a day’s work. For what??

The JW religion wasn’t necessarily ‘falling apart’ yet.. I just had enough and was Done with it and so began my ‘Fade’.

it would sound like they are hinting at a change in thinking.. in my opinion, any such change would be yet another slap in the face to faithful pimis along with those other recent changes.. there are so many heartfelt responses on that thread and a lot of justified anger.. don’t know what to say except that i’m so glad i never listened to the religion all those years ago.

As far as the religion’s propaganda statement of “what would Jehovah want you to do?”: I have never believed the God of the Universe was interested in my secular job..This is purely an invention of the hateful Witness religion itself. Nothing more.

God help me if I had listened to those people back then. I am glad you are finally retired. I understand you worked longer to catch up - but at least you caught up.. Others on the forum are in a terrible predicament today in 2025.

This hateful false religion could have ruined my life if I had followed their ‘edicts’ years ago. I didn’t and they hated me for it and made sure I was not invited and was gossiped about.. I was scoffed at as the ‘low hour publisher’. Well, I’d wear that badge proudly today. My hours were well spent where they should have been - on secular jobs which provided a retirement.

Again, would somebody care to tell me what kind of Retirement income does working in the full-time ministry knocking on doors for 30+/40 years in the Jehovah’s Witness religion provide to anybody??? What would that monthly Dollar amount be???☺️

I didn’t know quite where to put my latest post but it does in some way relate to Retirement:

I just saw a thread on Reddit about somebody talking about their recent CO visit and referring to it as “Knucking Futz..” which it sounds like.

An anecdotal story was related about a sister who couldn’t get off her job one day to attend an assembly. She ends up quitting her job…but gets an anonymous letter in the mail essentially telling her somebody is giving her a great deal of money, etc. so no financial worries.

AGAIN, there is this never ending ridiculous theme of trying to convince JWs to quit their jobs! Only in this case there is the ‘hope’ planted in somebody’s mind that an anonymous benefactor might drop a pile of money on them! Anybody who falls for this garbage of quitting their job is certainly not planning for their retirement. I hate to disillusion anybody but I have never heard of the religion supporting anybody - (unless maybe if you’re a GB member who knows too much!)

If the ‘new system’ is anybody’s retirement plan — Good luck.

This is the same shit I heard there decades ago but Thank God I never listened.

hi to all, i have been away from the organization since the 1980's and as it seems, i haven't missed a thing.

i have seen a deterioration take place that is continually getting more dramatic than i have ever seen.

the thumbing down or the minimizing of spiritual food is reason enough that people are starving for something good.

TRUTH AND JUSTICE:

Hearing all this makes me glad I was not born into the Witness religion and have no family there. How unnatural this all is to anybody outside! You also saw that ‘lack of love’ that I experienced.

I came in as a young adult and had my hard knocks and criticism because I had to work and support myself.. But, this was merely a walk in the park compared to some JWs experience of being shunned by relatives! How awful.

I ended up finally leaving the JW religion after their 1995 Generation teaching… No more nonsense for me! I was glad to reconnect with my non-JW relatives and rejoin the human race.

If estranged JW relatives are reaching out you might want to be friendly but be careful because it might be about dragging you back into the religion.👎👎👎

I have been Out for ages and luckily never had any family in the JW religion so I wonder.

But, the few active Witnesses I sometimes keep in touch with have never admitted anything like this to me anyway. Nope I never heard them suggest the religion is ‘falling apart’. If anything, they try to make it sound appealing, like I’d want to go back!🤣. I doubt Witnesses would admit this to somebody who is Out.. But, I do wonder what they say among themselves.

Old WT books

so, here i am going through boxes and boxes of old wt literature.

i’m stacking it up from 1940’s to 1990’s.

i also have quite a few gems, like one 1917 studies in the scriptures.

People on here really had some amazing collections of Jehovah’s Witness literature both old and new, etc. including phonographs and records from the religion’s early days! Amazing.

I give you all credit for wanting to sell them and maybe get a few coins back for all the wasted time spent in that religion!.. I wouldn’t have had the patience but then I didn’t own anything too impressive like some on here who had several generations of family in the religion.. I came in as a Catholic.

I disposed of my JW ‘library’ a little at a time even taking some things with me when I left the house and put them in recycle bins, etc. I was so angered when I learned the truth about the ‘Truth’.. There was one particular thing I tore into many pieces: an inscribed song book from when I was baptized as a JW.. Of course, now I only recognize as legitimate the baptism I got in a Church in infancy for which I have a certificate which can be used for ID.

third study article....as people moved out of jerusalem before the romans attacked on 70 ce...perhaps there are gonna be instructions for us today about us ...leaving possessions and houses...and moving to a different place.!!.

Regarding the 1975 thing, they have selective memory loss. I was not yet in the religion and might not have gotten involved if I knew about this!

Witnesses are not encouraged to research the religion’s past, and there might be many JWs today who know absolutely nothing about what happened before 1975.. Many Witnesses today never heard about all those who quit jobs back then (notice that theme about getting people to quit their jobs - which they tried to get me to do when I came in some years later).

Those JWs back then got into debt they never expected to pay back, sold their homes and/or gave away(?) possessions and went to where ‘the need was great’ or pioneered until the End, etc. Then when the End didn’t come by New Years Day 1976 - all these gullible Witnesses had to start all over again! Some left the religion.

This would be so tragic if something similar were to happen again today in 2025 or so. But, nothing would surprise me when you are dealing with ignorance in this secretive group that hides its history!

Somebody mentioned that the Witness religion sounds more like Jonestown every day.. Some are worried about their PIMI relatives following strange direction.

Last summer I watched a YouTube video by Life After Religion where he mentions JWs possibly being told to ‘walk away and abandon their belongings and go into the wilderness’ or some such language 🙄.. Oh Please!.. I visualize something weird, to say the least - resembling a science fiction movie.

I remember those days in the Witness religion maybe the 1980s(?)

There was a rash of dramatic stories of JWs who had to get rid of suspected demonized things because of strange ‘occurrences’ in the house after these things were brought home. . Maybe these things were bought at garage sales or were secondhand furniture gotten off somebody’s curb. Who knows what to think?🤷🏻‍♀️

I cannot imagine that many of those hard-core pioneers of the 1980s are still full-time pioneering today in 2025.

I remember those people my age group then who criticized me for working full-time! They lived on the edge with part time jobs, etc..because they were expecting the End at any minute.. Certainly they would have been forced off the pioneer list over the years because of pressing expenses of living in this world.

Examples I heard of were couples who needed medical coverage desperately and so one or both needed a ‘regular’ job that provided the needed benefits.. What people fail to mention is that young people might get away with having no medical coverage for a time (unwise as this may be) because they are young and relatively healthy.. So, Time and aging bodies forces people to deal with reality!

Even back when I was a ‘believer’ I always felt the only people who should be pioneering were retirees or kids on summer vacation. Again, I’m Glad today I kept that job and didn’t follow the crowd in the Kingdom Hall.
