JW love is conditional love. Period. Once I got into a discussion with somebody about the conditional love shown by the dubs. She said well: "all love has conditions". I said: "yes, in the sense that you are not going to break into your neighbor's house or assault him, etc., yes those are normal unspoken conditions of your relations with people in general".
But in the case of the dubs it has to do with performance on your part. Anybody who says otherwise is only kidding themselves.

by Evanescence inhi ppls!
i found on the watchtower sight under the topic "how can you find the true religion?".
that it mentions, "the most outstanding mark of true christians is that they have real love among themselves.".

Walter:
I feel sad that you were so hurt. I hope some good comes to you in life for all the good you did for others!
Unfortunately, the dubs wanted us to let our guard down and so it was easy for us to be taken advantage of. Why, they also told us to "widen out" too! Never mind that you might be widening out to a con artist!!
It made me bitter to see people I know being taken advantage of over and over again because they thought they had to do this to be christian! -

Do elders/PO's really care?
by buffalosrfree inin 2003 a elder who happens to be the p.o.
of my wife's congregation visited me, a real nice guy, but i knew he had gotten the letter from the borg.
anyway like i said a nice guy he promised to call again real soon that was prior to the memorial of 2003, well the memorialo of 2005 has come and gone and he still hasn't come back to visit.

Your comments are right on - especially the one about having "mature sisters" help single mothers or even just single women.
I have also observed that if a publisher (male or female) has mental health issues they won't touch him with a ten foot pole. -

Sadly, I would have to agree considering today's work ethic and morals. I know there are exceptions to the rule and you will read a wonderful story in the newspaper now and then about some hero who does something noteworthy and gets recognition for it.
There was a time a nice guy would be appreciated, but that was long ago when people were god-fearing and had a conscience. Now, a nice guy (or gal) has to watch his/her rear. I think people have contempt for the nice easy-going guy. They secretly think you are a shithead! This rule applies in the religion and out of the religion. There is always somebody looking to take advantage of your "niceness". In fact, aren't there books on the market designed to help people to get-over on and influence other people? The dubs just love when you are nice or easy-going. Then they know they have a live one! -

Do Jehovah's Witnesses Have The Reputation THEY Think They Have?
by minimus inwitnesses believe they are special.
the publications give many examples of how wonderful a witness was viewed upon by a "worldly" person.
kms tell of how so many praise the witnesses for being so "different".....what would you say is the real way people view jws??

No they don't. In fact, I worked with a man who knew another witness and was of the opinion that they attracted people who either came from dysfunctional homes or had psychological problems.
Hardly flattering. -

Did you feel their togetherness and nosiness put you in danger?
by LongHairGal ini know it is an odd question and maybe i am not phrasing it right but i felt with their cult of confession (not just to the elders) but with everybody knowing each other's business it could be a danger.
for example: let's say you were a person who kept a lot of money hidden in your house and you made the mistake of telling one of these wonderful friends - what guarantee did you have that they wouldn't blab it to the wrong person and you could get robbed or something?
i always felt with them that i shouldn't let the right hand know what the left was doing.

I always felt with them that I shouldn't let the right hand know what the left was doing. I never entirely trusted them not necessarily because I thought they were dishonest but I felt they were stupid and somewhat jealous.
I learned to be secretive.

Sweet Tee:
I could never understand why they wanted to control every aspect of your life until I realized that they do not want thinking people of any kind.
They want you to ask what shoe you should put on first. They must realize that once you start thinking you are out of there. I guess simple thinking leads to critical thinking!

A relationship with God or the organization ?
by vitty ini have been thinking about this for a while, so here goes.
when i was in the "truth" i truly believed in god, i prayed and tried to do what was right ( wt style) then when i started reading stuff and the experiences on here it didnt take very long before i knew the "truth" wasnt true after all.. so after 20 years as an adult that i spent in, it litrually took a few hours to come out.. ive asked myself how and why did this happen?
and so quickly.. at first i felt i still believed in jehovah, but if the wt was wrong, where did that leave me.

Greendawn:
Thanks for enlightening me about their early days. I don't remember if I read this anywhere and just forgot.
The thing that always got me was how we were expected to just accept if somebody said they were annointed. This and many other things they said could never be proven. For example, when they would say they were the fulfillment of a prophecy. But yet I am supposed to just believe it because somebody said so?!

So, they wouldn't tell you where they were and you wanted to go to a meeting??
The sick part about this is that I know of an instance where a dangerous person called a hall inquiring about a certain sister and some idiot told him her whereabouts.
Go figure.
