What is the current Watchtower "rent charge per publisher" for Kingdom Halls in the USA???

i was following a few threads in reddit from current pimo jws complaining about local announcements regarding halls being short on their per publisher "rent payments".

third gen and i have been out pomo for a while...so how much is this charge now?

could this be part of the recent push to get people to "come back" or get re-instated...if it even is online and 15 minutes of service per month?

That’s a good point and I hadn’t thought about that one.

They certainty would want people back to give $$. They need brothers to be elders and hold microphones. But, they also want people (women) to do favors for people there.

In the old prosperous days when I was there they tried to enlist ALL the young women to do favors for affluent older people and other Users there.. I was viewed so negatively because of my job that I made sure I said NO.. But, there were plenty of other brown noses and pioneers who said yes.. Good for them and they probably got invited to those ‘special dinners’.

The demographics are different in the JW religion today. They have had serious population loss and this is really their fault as they literally pushed people out, in my opinion..(I walked out).. Most of those affluent older people I remembered have passed away.. The die-hard Boomers are seniors now and are probably the ones looking for assistance of all kinds now!

i swear, you can't make this shit up!

for years and years growing up in this cult, i had to constantly hear from my parents, from the stage, in the literature, about "keeping your eye simple", not being "materialistic", not "having a showy display of one's wealth.

" of course, this never seemed to apply to the wealthy business owning elduhzzzz who ran and lorded it out over the congregations, but i digress.

I totally agree that people have the right to question and criticize religious leaders - especially if anything about them deviates from the high moral biblical standard that they purport to have.

We can’t forget that many people on the forum may be active Witnesses (maybe even a few exes).. who have these religious leaders on a pedestal. There’s that holy mystique they confer upon them… I, myself, never believed this nonsense about anybody there - even when I was in the religion.

That’s why you sometimes see downvotes when somebody posts something hard-hitting that seems ‘irreverent’ to these sacred cows. Some posters don’t like it.. Too bad.. That wouldn’t stop me from speaking my mind.

Nah, I like my watches even though you can look at your phone for the correct time.

But, my watches are more down to earth price-wise. My most expensive one is just over two grand purchased two decades ago. I believe that it is in poor taste for religious leaders in any religion to flaunt riches in the faces of the public.

Good for you (BA2) to enlighten everybody as too many Witnesses are painfully ignorant about everything in the world around them.

At least a college educated person might have some idea if they are out of their depth. Not so an ignorant JW: they just go blundering on..

I thought of something even though it is not related: this Norway thing might confuse some uneducated JWs here and there as to what they ‘can get away with’ with regard to shunning and perhaps even going beyond what they should say in particular situations. It does make you wonder what actually happened in this instance(?)

after full understanding and decision by the state administrator, full confirmation in the appeal case by the ministry of children and family affairs, three victories in the injunction case, a full victory in the district court, we now faced a loss in the court of appeal.

Yes, I believe what you say about the org ‘moving on and leaving boomers scratching their heads’…I am Out many years so I have no contact.

I think anyone with functioning brain cells should not only be embarrassed to be a JW - but they should have been out the door by now.. I do realize some are ‘stuck’ because of family who will shun them.. It was easy for me to ‘Fade’ years ago because I was independent and had no family there and was not held ‘hostage’ by any connections.🤮 Thank God.

Maybe they won here but who knows what will happen in the future(?)

One thing is certain: more of the public have been exposed to what the JWs are all about if they didn’t know already. I still think they are going down quickly. Doesn’t matter about new policies greeting people who are DFd/removed OR visits to long time Faders/ Inactive people to entice them back because they are looking for $$ and people to do favors.🤮

When the die-hards/Boomers are gone I think the JW religion is pretty much done and will deserve to join the list of defunct American religions.

since i faded i've told a few people at work about having been raised in this organization but i found that most people don't really get what it is like at all.

they just focus on not celebrating holidays as if that is the worst thing about growing up jw.

i didn't explain much because it's too much for most people to handle.

DESIROUS OF CHANGE & BALAAMSASS2:

What I would like to stress to all the born-in/ raised-in Witnesses/ex-Witnesses is that the religion was not honest and up front about what they were. Very deceitful.

This is how somebody raised Catholic like myself was roped in.

Did you know that I was told everybody was equal there? 🤣 I was also told they had ‘no clergy class’ when they do, in fact, claim ecclesiastical privilege in courts of law. Simply, they have a plain clothes clergy.. At first, I didn’t think it was a religion per se..

I personally was only interested in ‘end time prophecy’ and that was it.. Some liars there made it sound like they ‘cracked some code’ in the Bible and I was ‘in the right place’. 🙄 Anyway, it was all lies.

After the honeymoon period was over I saw all the mean-spirited judgmentalism.. When I refused to quit my full-time job to appease these people (and refused to do favors for Users) they made sure I was ‘marked’ and hardly invited anywhere.

So, it wasn’t necessarily about being ‘gullible’. If I had been very gullible & quit my full-time job then I would be in very bad shape today.. Thank God I never listened!

Are you the poster with the elderly dad still in the JWs - and you don’t want him to wake up so to speak? Sorry if I have the wrong poster. Yes, many people tire of posting at some point and ‘move on’. Others love coming on here.

I have been on here a long time. My favorite topic (the religion knocking jobs/careers) is becoming more obvious or relevant as yet more Witnesses reach retirement age unprepared and the results are disastrous… But, I suppose I will run out of steam at some point.

While I would never bring it up first to strangers because it makes you sound like a loser, if somebody mentions it I will say that I was a JW for a time.

I would say that I came in a young working adult because I was led to believe they are something they are not. I would also say they are anti-career and I thankfully never listened to them.. I would say I finally left because they went back on one of their major teachings (Generation - 1995) and were just stringing everybody along!

I have no problem believing Job or somebody like him existed in antiquity - even if there is no grave marker…

The reason I believe the JW religion likes to distort the story of Job is that his story is about extreme suffering.. In fact, suffering so horrendous that most people wouldn’t want to live through it.. The JW religion knows its members have suffered (maybe not exactly like Job) and it doesn’t want to hear complaints. Imagine that? It knows its predictions didn’t happen and many are suffering with poverty because of bad advice to not plan decades earlier for their senior years.

The religion wants to instill guilt so its members will just shut up.. Just my opinion about it all.
