Jehovahs Witness and Disability

hello all- i am putting together a directory of resources from different religious organizations that address the topic of disability and have had a difficult time finding anything from the jehovahs witnesses.... i am wondering if anyone out there knows of anything in the area of disability- websites, organizations, people??

the kind of thing i'm looking for is under the 'faith group specific' section here at http://www.faithability.org/directory/ i'm not really familiar with the jehovahs witnesses teaching on the topic, but our neighbors were jehovahs witnesses growing up and they were great neighbors to my two younger brothers with disabilities- i just want to make sure that i have a good and accurate representation- any help is appreciated.

I was in a congregation years ago that had a sign language class every Saturday afternoon at the KH, for the benefit of a deaf sister who only had a few people to talk to because no-one else could sign.

I always thought that was a weird thing to do - take a name directly from a Bible verse, and then point at the verse and say "Oooh, look! It's talking about us!"

Kingdom Halls for sale!

this is my first post.

a week back,gary buss started a post on the gb's claim to assembly halls and kh's in the new org.

book.i find this interesting because the kh in the city i reside in has been up for sale for the past year.

There was a lot of upset from the locals who had paid for and built that KH themselves and did not see one red cent from the sale....it all, of course, went to the WBTS.

Is this for real? The WTBTS can legally take possession of property that someone else paid for?

JWs and breastfeeding past infancy

my jw mother breastfed my sibs so long they remember it.

one she stopped feeding when she went to kingergarten; i kid you not.

my mother justified it by saying moses' mother breastfed him until whatever age and the bible encourages it.

A child seeing a female breast is more likely to be adversly affected by a hysterical prude making a fuss about it, than by the sight of the breast themselves.

When I was in preschool, the teacher actually invited a friend of hers with a baby to visit the class and give a demonstration of how mothers breastfeed. Not sure what the point of it was, but I don't remember being particularly traumatized by it.

can anyone tell me the date when the wt teaching of fds's appointment over master's belongings became an official doctrine of the society?

was it a new 'truth' revealed in a wt circa 1914/19, or was the doctrine developed piecemeal in hindsight because subsequent events seemed to indicate it?

We know this is the correct interpretation, because the FDS says so. And we know they are the FDS because they have the correct interpretation.

Dubs putting smiley faces and scriptures on notes they send you.

i am not necessarily referring to the scriptures they quote in greeting cards.

although this is enough to make you barf because it makes the person sending it out to be so "spiritual" (whether they are or not) and also it makes a false impression that they love you (whether they do or not).

what i am really referring to is when one of them needs a favor from you and they send you a note and put a smiley face at the bottom and quote some scripture.
